Not only are Woodpeckers products made with precision and with premium materials, but they are also packaged to perfection and everything you purchased is included. Also, customer service is speedy, so much so that sometimes I swear I get a reply before I send in my question. Made in the USA, too.
I was trying to make a lesser model work, but right off I had trouble because I could not get my hand around my drill chuck to tighten it. The two bars holding up the guide extended up above the guide, effectively blocking access to the drill chuck. Although I have not heard anyone point this out before, but the guide on Woodpeckers' model goes right up to the top of the support bars and there is nothing to get in the way when you are tightening the chuck onto the shank of the chuck in the guide. Although he did not talk about it, this fellow at least showed how easy it is to hold your drill's chuck while tightening it onto the guide's chuck.

Ordered one of these and waiting for delivery. Know it's going to be one of those tools which will rarely get used but when reasonable precision is called for I expect it to be worth it. Have tried a couple of drill guides and they quickly ended up in the trash.
My workspace is pretty maxxed out and drill press not practical. Very good video; covered the highlights and straight to the point. Look forward to using the guide.

They also make extension rods you can get and then you can go to the center of a sheet of plywood.

Would love to see you try out and test the hole saw cutting through hardwood or plywood with holding onto the jig. I noticed in other RUclips videos with the rockler version of this tool, it was really bad with the movement and shaking using any drill bit over 3/8". would love to see u do a video on the different types of bits including that yellow hole saw cutter u have in this video while holding it.

This is slick...I think I use my 10" benchtop as you do and this might be a worthy replacement. I had the Milescraft for a while and it just didn't live up to my expectations.

I had/have that one as well. I never use it because I can’t trust it’s drilling perfectly straight /90 degrees.

Nice and fair review - Thanks! Have you tried horizontal drilling? I need to align several pieces of 2"x"2 square wood rods and drill a hole in the middle for wires through 3/4" o.d. diameter pipe - wondered if this contraption can do it?

I haven’t tried, but if you search Woodpeckers review video they demonstrate horizontal drilling!

I bought this product when announced it's only seen the light of day when I unboxed it. Wish I returned it.

Nice unit. For the price I think a keyless chuck would be a good inclusion

So.. the one thing I grapple with on an expensive purchase like this.. is that I don't drill that often (maybe I should more).. but more so.. the set up time.. vs just putting the drill right on the spot and drilling.. in my hobby work I have never..that I recall had a problem with anything I drilled. I love the tool..and have had it in the cart a couple times, then I go back to.. $350.. for a tool I havent had to use yet in the few projects I have worked on.. how big a difference is this going to make? One thing I am curious about drilling is holes for speaker drivers that would be on a circle and inset (e.g. the material where the hole has to go is 1/2" deeper than the surface area the drill guide base would sit on). Unclear if this would help in situations like that given the odd circular surface.

I too put it in and out of my cart - though thinking it might be good for Horizontal drilling actually - not sure.

I was close to purchasing the Rockler drill guide ( the larger one with the 1/2 inch chuck ) and read some of the reviews and there were a lot of guys saying that the plate was getting stuck on the rods somehow where they had a very hard time pulling the drill back up. There were several saying that same thing. Have you or anyone else used the Woodpecker drill guide and had this same problem? I just found this brand of drill guide and not sure if they make a 1/2" chuck version but has anyone had problems with it getting stuck on the rods?

I have not had any issues to date with the drill getting stuck on the guide rods.

@@BrianWatersOutdoors Do you by chance know what the maximum drilling depth is for the wpecker?

There's no reason to fiddle with tightening the chuck on your Festool. Remove it and use the 1/4" hexagon socket behind the chuck instead; it will fit right on the drill guide's chuck... ;-)
