      @@claygraves8201 I bet! We went to Rockport beach too, the water was the same. South Padre is on my list to visit soon.

    Crazy how flooded it gets there; rather surprising but it probably doesn't rain there that much...we always find it difficult when thinking about going to the beach and prioritizing Texas beaches over other states. But the chance to camp that close to the water would be a neat experience for sure.

      We were surprised it was flooded when we went. Staff said it doesn’t rain that often, but has been the prior weeks. We went to a NC state park beach which was really nice, posting that one later in the month. We really enjoyed visiting the coast of Texas.

      @@MrSTravelQuest right now we are at Caprock and will be headed to Palo Duro Canyon State Park in a few days. We don’t spend all that much time at the beach. My son is trach vent. But used to go to port aransas every summer.

      I understand, you know what park you might enjoy. Corpus Christi State Park, it has a nice boardwalk overlooking the lake. I’m making that video next 😊. Caprock Canyonks amazing, did you see the Bisons? They get pretty close out there. You will love Palo Duro, even if you just drive into the canyon. They have some great overlooks and you don’t even have to hike to see them. Safe travels and happy hiking!

      @@MrSTravelQuest it’s beautiful all the wildlife we have seen. Bison, Prairie dogs, owls,
      Rattlesnake, and so many tarantulas. I look forward to seeing your next video. We did a 7 mile hike yesterday. Taking today off. My pack keeps getting bigger lol he is 9 now.

      That’s a lot to see and hike. I have to give it to you and think it’s amazing you take your son on those amazing hikes. Which trail did you do? I know on Caprock the Haynes Ridge trail was no joke. You will love Palo Duro, it has great views all over the park.

    Really well done video, appreciate how you went in depth on the features/amenities in the park. TPWD should honestly pay you for this video to use on their site. Their videos tend to be a little... dry, and old.

    I got the worst sunburn of my life here. Haha. We were only there from about 10 am to 2 pm or so, and after swimming I sat on the tailgate and ate a sandwich and some chips. I continued to sit there until we left and got burnt to a crisp on my head and knees. Didn't even notice it until hrs after we left.

    We were there *during* that rain before you got there, I thought I was going to be carried out to sea, it was intense! Port A got slammed. Another top notch video, do you do video production as a career as well or is this just a hobby? Because they always are very professionally done 👍

      I can’t imagine how Port Aransas looks with heaven rain. It rained the week before and some areas was still flooded. Thank you so much for the kind words. The dream is to do this full time professionally. I’m an educator by trade, do videography work on the side (wedding/quince). Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I love making the content and sharing the great state of Texas.

    I've been to a couple beaches in Corpus Christi but never been to Mustang Island SP. It looks nice! The only other beach I've been to in Texas was in Galveston and I really enjoyed it but I want to go to South Padre this summer as I hear from many that it's the best beach in Texas.

      Rockport and Mustang Island were the first beaches we visited. We want to visit South Padre Island too. I hear it’s one of the best beaches we have in the state. I plan on visiting Houston State parks next year and visiting g Galveston beach 😃

      @@MrSTravelQuest South Padre is slightly nicer, but if you're in the central part of the state it's not worth the extra drive. It also tends to be more touristy/crowded. Port Aransas/Mustang Island is where it's at imo.

    If you’re fine just camping on the beach you can just drive into Port Aransas and camp for free at the beach. Just make sure you have a beach permit for your vehicle.

    WOW, that parking lot was really flooded when you were there. I wonder if they have plans to do anything about that.

      No plans to do anything about the flooding. They said it rarely rains that much. I talked to the staff before I left. HQ still being renovated after the hurricane Harvey in 2017. Then Covid hit and slowed down the construction. They were some of the nicest staff members I’ve met.

    I went there this may.The water was blue and clear but in this video it’s not probably because of the rain or wind conditions.

      It rained the week before and Saharan dust was in the air. The beach was still amazing, planning to go again next summer.

      Well duh it’s the gulf of Mexico not playa del Carmen. It’s still the ocean water where sediment gets washed up.
