    I had a 2009 V8 Vantage (4.7L SS) that I got for myself as an early 30th birthday present back in 2015. I'd wanted one since I first laid eyes on the thing. After my two year lease was up, instead of buying it out, I decided (with some convincing from the salesperson I was talking to) to trade it in on a 2014 E550 Coupe. I've since modded it to get 550hp/705ft-lb out of the 4.7L bi-turbo V8. And despite that, no matter what, I don't think I've ever been truly "happy" with the car. Don't get me wrong, it has been a great car; reliable, moderately practical, and unbelievably fast... but it doesn't make me feel happy in the same way, it's missing that special something that gearheads crave about a car. This video reminded me what my old Aston did that no other car does for me. I'd probably be happy even going down to a 4.3L V8 Vantage at this point, just to get back that magic.
    Great video.

      @James Parkes - agreed, the Aston Vantage V12 and V8 feel truly analog yet refined. Hard to put a finger on it. The suspension can be a little bouncy but driving it is not quite as tiring as a gated F355 - which with an aftermarket sound and that clink is blissful but takes more out of you.

    Disagree on a few points. Show me a car from 2005 that has a better interior. The suspension shouldn't squeak and overall it sounds like the maintenance is lacking a bit here.
    The design is actually now 14 years old, not 11. It's an epic car.

      M I Plenty of Lexus’s from that era have interiors with better materials, even if they’re not as aesthetically pleasing.
      Yes the suspension shouldn’t squeak, this car was primarily purchased to be rented out
      Yes the design is (still) stunning. I thought that was made abundantly clear.

      could agree more. that little ashtray door that is shown has a special rubber capped stopper screw on it so it makes a nice soft sound when closed. has at least two springs specially designed to give a soft-close feel with a neutral mid open touch and a slightly forceful full open. i couldn't believe how much design and engineering must have gone into that stupid little ashtray lid. oh, and it's leather lined too.

    • @dresdonfury
      @dresdonfury 3 года назад +2

      I chuckled when he said the interior hasn’t aged well and is cheap. It’s now 2021 and my 2008 has an exquisite interior, particularly given the high contrast Sahara desert leather and black front console. The mid console is equally nice with adequate leather shifter and solid aluminum lid over the leather trimmed cubby. Hell even the seatbelt buckle is wrapped in leather! The front console is indeed its Achilles heel especially given the nav system but who cares? Set it to stay permanently closed, install a mod to stream music and focus on eating up the road.

    for the first few minutes anyway (i couldn't watch much more than that) it's clear that this guy has no idea what he's talking about. the interior of this car even after 15 or so years of its manufacture is a glorious place to be. and its appointments are of top notch design and made of excellent materials. solid metal, and knurled knobs back light buttons, brushed aluminum and leather that still smells new even after a decade and a half.

    • @ClutchKickOfficial

      And that's what happens when you only watch the first few minutes, you miss the point. Interior design is top notch but the materials themselves are far from excellent. @Qiyuan Zhang The V12 manual is special for its relative rarity (only 345 exported to the US), increased power, more aggressive styling with lots of carbon fiber, raucous V12 sound. Having driven both I dare say the V8 is better balanced but the V12 is special in its own way.

      @@navchakravarti9164 Thanks very much for the insight! I'm not sure about the styling of the V12, TBH - too many vents on the bonnets for my taste. V8 seems to be a more sensible option (and much cheaper as well). The V12 is completely bonkers (in a good way). I suspect I wouldn't be anywhere near exploiting the full potential of that V12 engine. So now I'm leaning towards the V8. However, whether there is a huge difference in the noise department between the two would be another important factor. There's a lot of Aston Martin fans who've probably never even driven one hating when you say anything bad about it. But let's be honest, it's made in Britain which means the quality basically doesn't exist. I know it had a Volvo key, I didn't know the interior is from a Volvo BUT it always did remind me of it. it just really does look rather pathetic considering how much it costs. Jaguar's interior is very similar on my opinion and perhaps even better than the Vantage. Aston Martin is basically charging money for the fact that it's an Aston Martin. There's nothing else to it. It was never the fastest, never the most reliable, never anything. Always used parts from a Volvo, Ford, Mercedes and the parts they made themselves sucked. Yet people bought it. It just looks and sounds so good. ''Aston Martin V8 Vantage''...
