    Remember! It's important to keep you hands out of the way when using a nail gun. Sometimes they double fire and the second nail can drive the first several inches further, or even strait through your material, and if your hands in the way then it's going to hurt. Knots in the wood could also cause the nail to go were you don't want it to.

    Really enjoyed this episode. This is a brilliant solution for a custom closet! You explained each step very clearly & your systematic process was easy to follow. Choosing these materials provides great value for the cost & all of your well placed trim pieces contribute to a high end look. Thank you for sharing your pro tips. Each of the small details adds up to have a hugely positive impact on the finished project. I also appreciate your before & after photos. Taking them from the same perspective makes it easy to see exactly what changes were made. Looking at the pictures I realized the door on the short diagonal wall was removed & the vanity fit like a puzzle piece along that wall. At the opposite end of the room I noticed you opened the wall for access to the master bedroom. The lay out seems to have a highly functional & efficient flow. Now you've peaked my interest & I'm curious to discover what else you've done to modify the rest of the home. I've been involved with many aspects of renovations, on diverse types of properties. Some character traits I admire about you are, you have vast knowledge & you could stay stuck in the old ways but you lead by example & explore new materials, techniques & trends. You aren't limited to just doing the work but also have the gift of teaching. Patiently explaining to support & nurture those less skilled. To inspire, encourage & even take the stress off by sharing a laugh. We learn best when we're willing to risk failure on the path to grow wiser & achieve more. Even though you're a confident role model, you humbly admit you're not always perfect. That's OK because stepping beyond the confines of a familiar routine, is often how we discover new ways to improve our craftsmanship. Wishing you abundant Blessings!

    It’s absolutely stunning. We just recently bought a house and I am wanting to take one of the rooms and turn it into a dressing room like this doing the work myself. I was getting frustrated looking at the outrageous price ranges just for particle board and then I couldn’t see spending thousands on a designer closet makeover when I would rather spend the money on something else such as buying more vintage clothing to fill it. Plus I want to buy a few vintage looking racks for display. I just knew I could get an elegant look for much less and then stumbled on your channel when getting ideas to paint my own kitchen cabinets. I am also considering doing a brown paper floor which is considerably less than wood floor but can still get the wood floor look. I call it a paupers wood floor but it looks beautiful and unique when done correctly. We already have some oak wood hardware floors but I want something less maintenance in the rooms that have carpet.

    Awesome guy, cool channel... every EXPERIENCED carpenter/ trades person/ worker knows that 37:30 minutes/seconds into this video is ALLLL TRUE. Figure it out as you go even when you've done it a few dozen times...you still measure twice cut once four times until it fits right. Some days are like that; especially when someone else is watching you do it.

      Hi great information, but how would you fit those cabinet’s to solid brick wall?

    • @legarambor
      @legarambor 4 года назад +2

      @@Blue60 1. Drill a hole as big as the plug into the wall (plug for brick / concrete, just check in the store), 2. put the plug in, 3. place the cabinet on the wall, 4. use a hammerscrew or a screw to drill into the plug behind the cabinet, 5. voila. you're done.

    I like how when you make a mistake, you don't fade to black, you show the whole thing, warts n' all. That's what we call bein' real. When I was working we used to say, "Inside the line" "outside the line" or "TOL" (take out the line." It's fun to watch and see these little differences, as well as material and tools we didn't have when I was working.

    The piece of important geometry to remember here is that when trying to lift something that will be flush, or near-flush, to the ceiling is that the clearance is not the length of the board but the length of the diagonal from corner to corner of the board that will allow you to lift it to the ceiling!

Thank u, a mom of 5 kiddo’s doesn’t have much time to do much for myself, I was about to give up & leave crap closet-maid wire shelves up..they’re the worst

    Awesome video. Last fall, I designed a custom closet for my master walk-in but I haven't started on it yet. I was planning on buying some lumber, using pocket holes to put it all together, then priming and painting it but your method looks so much easier, cheaper and nicer. Glad I saw this video before I wasted my money and time. Thanks!
