- Let’s just get this out of the way, this season we had 3 episodes with Jay and NONE of them portrayed who Jay really is. They wanted to say he was a changed man when all he really did was unreasonably not go home to his wife and hangout with Voight all the time out of nowhere right after he asked Voight to trust him and let him handle stuff so it’s his way and not Voights way. Then they show that he is becoming voight? What? Showing a summery of what happened between them and that they’re hanging out a lot cause they were in a rush to write him out? Trash.
I am absolutely heartbroken and in disbelief that we’re not going to see his face on our tv every Wednesday on our favorite show. He was my comfort character and the reason I started watching PD in the first place. I’ll be forever grateful for all he’s done on the show. They left a door open for him to come back…maybe? I just have this terrible feeling that they are going to kill him off, off screen and end the whole thing cause the way he said goodbye was different.anyways, I’m still holding on the little hope left. But him not being a regular on the show, that is hitting me hard…

I cried so hard...felt like piece of me was just crushed. It's so amazing how emotionally connected you become to a character.....Jesse and Tracy is dynamic
Terrific episode but I think it needed two episodes because this was rushed. We needed to see Jay say goodbye to the team, people he loved. They needed a bit more time with Hailey and even though I am not a big Upton fan, I felt so sorry for her. It was such an emotional scene and I cried buckets! Halstead/Jesse is my favourite character so it will be hard to watch without him. Good luck in whatever Jesse does next. I shall be following him.
@@ginger6643 I thought it would happen end of the season this feels just wrong had absolutely no time to say goodbye to the character, watched jay for 10 years and now suddenly it’s like bye bish see ya never. People loved his character heard he’s leaving and instead of weening the character away it’s just dropped like that plus the goodbye was shit. Would’ve liked seeing him say goodbye to his brother ya know
@@Melanie4 I agree they should have shown him saying goodbye to his brother and the team! Im looking forward to his directing an episode but I hope the door is open for Halstead to return. I don't like watching it without him, it's not the same.
Literally crying, this was painful, kudos to both actors 👏
I think that there is a sad irony to be appreciated here with Jay being yet another individual who grows as a professional under Voihgt's tutelage, but ends up broken and going too far and having a sad or bittersweet ending at best, such a was the case with Erin, Antonio, and o the more extreme side Olinsky. They are all so committed to the job through Voight that they end up losing sight of the effect it has on their own lives.
Great episode regardless...Jay was one of my favorites on the show...he will be missed.
I hear you, but, it's one thing for Jesse/Jay to leave the show, quite another to leave Upstead as well. I get so emotional 😢 with this type of ending, at 69 I think I'm getting too old for this.
It was absolutely heartbreaking but in a way, I understand Jay ' s decision. Thanks God he was not killed. Forever missed. This was the best relationship. I don' t know if I would like Chicago Pd without Jay. Thanks for this video!
The way Hailey kept her distance when he was doing everything and the team would look at Hailey and she is just like nope

Am I the only one who thought the way he left hayley was selfish. I get it he was going through something and needs this to be better, but the fact that they're married and he kept pushing her away. Like shes your wife. And he tells her last minute hes leaving, like all he could ha w said was hes planning to leave chicago and go back to the army before he finalised the decision.
They did something like this on MacGyver. Where Jack Dalton left to go overseas to catch a bad guy. Then later on the team found out he died

tbh Jays character never recovered from Erin leaving, it changed his whole dynamic, and the dynamic of the show, its been poorer for it

They should have moved them bought or just killed off his character if he isn't coming back. It will be really dumb if we get a time jump and they say how: ''He died doing his job in Columbia'' or something like that. I do understand the actor, because this is a 10 years of his life and he wants something more. But the storyline should have been define in a different way.

Is Jay leaving for Bolivia voluntarily or is he forced to go there. I mean making a decision like that its confusing because he is leaving Hailey by herself. Hailey could have left with him why didn't she. Also why did he resign
He didnt like the type of person he was becoming. So decides to resign after he went rogue on an investigation and gets a job in the army in Bolivia. Yeah he literally told hayley the day he was flying out,which is silly he could have told her where his head was at. But I think it has to do with the fact he hasnt been himself lately and felt like he was going down a bad route so decides to leave and start fresh where he can become better. As for why hayley didnt leave with him,I think it has to do with the fact the actual actor who plays Jay, has left chicago pd, so him leaving to go to another job was there way to write his character of from the show
@@xxxmickyxxx3 Sorry, but being traumatised as a vet and going back to war doesn't make it any better. If you call it Bolivia, Afghanistan or whatever. This storyline makes absolutely no sense. They could have transfer him to another unit where he becomes seargant, somewhere in Illinois. Or become a member in the fbi.

He's leaving the army because of his ptsd, then joins cpd, then leaves because of he rejoins the army? What about the script writers? Are they on drugs? What kind of crazy storyline is that? This is dumb. Any other reason would have make sense. But this?
Did not leave the army because of PTSD, he was honorably discharged for medical reasons and almost every member of his unit was dead. Came back home and had to deal with PTSD. If you pay attention Will and Mouse mentioned it in some episodes and in S5 when undercover he mentioned it
@@dorcaskalambay414 He had ptsd and still has it. No way to discuss this with me. He might have left for medical reason but he already suffered from PTSD when he joined CPD.

He won't return. Except Hailey is pregnant or there is a strony reason to return. To me it looks like he's saying goodbye forever. The whole storyline doesn't make sense anyway. He came from afghanistan, suffered from PTSD, became a cop, later returns to Bolivia to work in a drug cartel with the highest risk to get traumatised again. Also he's married. They should have sent him away to work with the FBI but not at bolivia.

Can someone explain to me why jay leaved his job? I only watch chicago med and I just saw the last episode of med when will talks about jay but I didnt understand what happened to him. Why he doesnt want to work at pd anymore except for the obvious reason of the actor not wanting to work in the show anymore?

Because the actress still wants the job. Jesse Lee Sofer is the one who wants to drop the show after 10 years, it wouldn’t be fair to her to have to leave just to please the viewers

This is the most bullshit storyline especially since we know all the demon Jay came back from his tours with. He almost killed himself last time on drugs and darkness.
