What a gorgeous sweet lyric sound. Later, when the voice darkened as voices tend to do, the sound was as beautiful. The added “weight” to her voice was like gold on a cloth of luscious velvet. Mirella was an extraordinary vocalist.

Mirella was a great singer, but I don't think of her as being a strictly 'lyric' soprano. One of her roles was Tosca, which requires power in the high register.
