Sorry if this has been requested before but I'd love to see a Sound Effect/Designer Artists React special. Maybe with a guest who works on sound design in films who can put a spotlight on the process, provide insights, give us their top sound effects and generally tell us how sound and visual effects work together on a scene. There are so many amazing sounds in cinema that deserve some attention. To name my favourites:
- The pod race in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
- The alien appears scene in Alien (1979)
- The beach scene in Saving Private Ryan (1998)
- The bombing raid in Unbroken (2014)
- The Balrog (specifically its roar. It's like a hot furnace) in LOTR (2001)

Eternal Sunshine has some of my favorite Cinematography and use of VFX of all time, glad these guys are finally taking a look at it!
you might want to check older episodes, they already went through a few other scenes in that movie
Very telling that the “simple” stitches at 13:54 impress the artists the most. Awesome stuff. And fully in service of the story and enabling the director to achieve what he was looking for.

Don't get it. Isn't that one shot? Or did the shot jump from 1 camera to the other because mirrors?
@@meekofortin14 Look at the top of the screen. They expertly stitched from one shot to another right in the middle. As the guest was explaining, they would sometimes switch out certain parts of the actor's performance with a stitch, just picking and choosing which moments they liked of each take. They used her passing the frame as almost a wipe cut.
Usually actors play multiple shots of same scene. And in post they can use parts of each but with cuts noticeable by different angles. In these cases they did that but "stitched" in a way that is seems it's just one take from same camera
Oh man! Birdman! HELL YES! We studied this film in film school because of how crazy it was made. The cuts are the FINEST, CLEANEST cuts I have ever seen. So incredible to watch.

ANOTHER BANGER EPISODE! Guests such as Are Khanikian are the ideal guests. The level of knowledge all 3 of you bring is just fun to watch
Absolutely, and if you close your eyes and listen to him speak the dude sounds exactly like Prince Oberyn from GoT

It's one of my all time favorites, can't watch without crying
Yea still one of my favourites, the way they capture dream like state, and the realism of the real word, so you can feel the distinction without exposition. Also Joel is just fantastically acted the whole cast did so well to capture a very realistic vibe of their characters, which makes the dreams and music all the more surreal.
Eternal Sunshine and Birdman are both so good. If you haven't seen Birdman it's a great watch and an experience you won't get from most other films. The cinematography is great, the writing is funny, it has this manic energy that's captivating, and it's such a unique experience.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is my favorite film. I've seen it several times. But this is the first time I realized that when that fence disappears, it's in the middle of the street, and the characters are in a new location.
Birdman is my favorite movie of all time.
Hearing these insights into how it was made was priceless. Thank you, Corridor, and THANK YOU, Ara!
There’s a 25th anniversary edition DVD of Star Trek: The Motion Picture that Paramount gave to a special effects studio to RESTORE the effects they had planned for originally during production, but ran out of money to shoot. It got so well that I had a hard time distinguishing where the restored effects began and ended. We’ve all seen effects added to a story that didn’t need it, but I’d never seen effects that were originally planned restored to the story. I think you guys works love it.
Eternal Sunshine is my favorite movie with some great overlooked VFX. I’m stoked to watch this.
This was the most mind boggling episode in a long time, I can't believe how damn hard so many of these shots would have been to do. And so glad to see you guys react to Birdman! One of the best movies of all time imo.
Flight of the Navigator from 1986 was one of the first movies to feature CGI chrome objects, image based lighting and morphing. Also, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory looks like CGI with the squirrel attack but they really trained squirrels to attack a stuntwoman.
Honestly training a team of literal attack squirrels is pretty on brand

I've watched Birdman many times and those hidden stitches have taken me out, I had no idea, incredible work
Been really stressed lately but now I get to watch vfx artists react and not worry about my stress for a few minutes
Recommendation: For a classic VFX shot, have a look at Danny Kaye's ON THE DOUBLE. In the beginning, it looks like a simple split screen, but one character breaks the split and it's not immediately noticeable how it was done. It's pretty cool!
I think y'all would enjoy reviewing a movie called Velocipastor. It's a brilliant deconstruction of bad movie tropes and has some truly jaw dropping vfx.

Dude it is so weird I just read this, I just watched that movie an hour ago and it was awesome.
It reminded me of Kung Fury, just legendary vfx in a indie flick
It could have easily been an intentionally bad movie like sharknado which are boring and obnoxious, good bad movies have to be done earnestly as RLM have explained many times haha

I watched The Borrowers (1997) with my kids last night and was impressed by a lot of the shots, especially the one where the four inch tall Borrower girl walks down a dark corridor with a birthday candle for a torch - and the flame is the correct scale!
That moment where you're watching a new RUclips video, then immediately switch over when you see the new Corridor Crew react video...😁 that's just how much I love you guys.
These episodes are always so fun to watch.
I watched James and the giant peach the other day and thought there was some great effects in that, especially the rhino storm at the start and end of the movie.
Also the live action version of the little prince had shots that I thought were impressive for their time where he’s walking around a tiny planet, also a sequence with a motion controlled plane prop at the very start

I've said it before, but I'll say it again; i think it would be really great if you guys checked out some of the old practical and optical effects from the old toho Godzilla movies
I think you guys might enjoy picking apart some of the effects in the ghost rider films! Particularly the scene in the second movie of his jacket bubbling
Hey guys, I love this series so much and appreciate all the work you've done. I learned so much about filmmaking and VFX and knowing how this works and the clever tricks that are used made me love movies as a whole so much more.
As a suggestion: There is an old german movie "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" from 1943 (insane, I know!). I watched this movie as a kid and for nostalgia rewatched it recently. I was so surprised to see how well the special effects in this hold up, especially considering it's age. I doubt that there are crazy mind-bending effects in it, but i liked how the effects of an 80 year old movie hold up better than some modern ones.
I think that a really good film to react to is everything everywhere all at once because it has some really interesting VFX but also a surprising amount of stunning practical effects.
You put Steven Seagal into John Wick.
You put Adam West into the new batman film.
You put Tom Holland into the spiderverse.
You put back superman's mustache.
Please please please put Ugly Sonic into the Sonic films. :D
I would be interesting to see some more breakdowns of CGI of older movies. And one movie from my childhood that jumps to mind is: Evolution (2001).

My suggestion is not a movie, so I know this could be a challenge. But the official video clip for Up and Up by Cold Play is amazing in terms of rotoscoping, compositing, and color grading... Great episode as always, thank you for this amazing content.
It would definitely be great to see more music videos analyzed, as some seem to have a lot of SFX & editing detail put into them?

I love all of these episodes so much! The Eternal Sunshine segment made me realize that I’d love to see a 2-team competition video where you both have to film the same scene, but one team does it with cg effects and the other team has to try to do it practically.
Or maybe a vfx artists react where your people try to trick you with the effects they use on short clips that they each make?
Either way, keep up the great stuff!

As a recommendation: the directors of the Matrix movies made Jupiter Ascending, which isn't their best, but its VFX and art design is very cool! Would love to see a breakdown:)

For the next Bollywood/Tollywood episode I'd love to see an interview with V. Srinivas Mohan, VFX supervisor on some films you've covered (RRR, Bahubali, Enthiran, Eega). He'd have some insight on how large scale effects have been pulled off over the years with the kind of budgets Indian filmmakers work with and their larger than life ambitions. Pete Draper from Makuta VFX could also be great for the same, and both of them have acknowledged your videos before!

I love how that Rings of Power shot is so normal and uninteresting if you don't know about VFX, but if you're into it, it's mindblowing.

Love this, been a subscriber for a while and have watched religiously for some time but really would love to see a series dedicated to Music Videos and behind-the-scenes. Especially as some of the great directors of today cut their teeth starting out on music vids. Keep up the good work guys.
There's some stuff in Eragon about the dragon that I'd be curious to hear you talk about. Pretty rough movie, but I remember a story where they spent all their budget on the dragon and I remember it looking pretty good. (just anything with dragons I'm down for.) Also saw a great making of Dragonslayer 1981 recently and figured you guys would have a lot of fun talking about that.
I watched Dragonheart recently, which is ...fine... but to have a nearly fully CGI main character in 1996 was a big achievement. It's not perfect obviously, but it's a talking, expressive, dynamic dragon voiced by Sean Connery. I'd be interested in hearing about that one too.

The fire in rings of power is some of the realest I've ever seen
I feel like when it comes to VFX, if you make it look easy to the average viewer, you're doing it right... but when those who know what could be done and/or even guess it wrong and learn something from it, all parties benefit. I love this industry!
With star wars day recently, I would love for you guys to look at star wars the clone wars and get your insights and thoughts on that series and some of the current star wars animations.
You should ask why did they used Chat GPT 3 to create the fanfiction plot of RoP?

I'm surprised they didn't notice all of the obvious feathering around the Stranger's cloak. Even when watching it for the first time, it was totally jarring and noticeable to me.
Also the complete lack of ambient occlusion on the log when his head moves close to it in that second scene they look at.
Rings of Power: I loved it when Gandalf told the Not-Hobbits, "I am Iron Man".
Love your work, please do an episode celebrating your favourite 'long takes' or 'one-shotters'. There's a long history of perfecting the one shotter
Man hearing renowned vfx supervisors say that they watch this show is just so cool to me!
There's definite issues with RoP, but visuals (and music) aren't one of them!
Luckily for Mr. Khanikian, Corridor managed to extract from Rings of Power the few elements worth discussing, as otherwise the production value compared to cost was abysmal and frankly not worth mentioning.
Yeah, it might suck story wise but it has some great VFX

@@LuisSierra42 I agree, except that "some" seems insufficient given the investment. Besides, not mentioning the story, even some of the VFX appears at best mediocre measured against today's standards.
@@ngbr-mbI wholeheartedly disagree. The show has some of the best looking vfx ever put to screen, mainly because it uses so many practical effects and solutions. It’s truly a work of art, and regardless of whether people didn’t like its story, the talent behind this show on a technical level is second to none in today’s standards. That’s just a fact

Very professional, lots of amazing tricks to learn! Im really proud and happy as a fan of the show for this episode. You guys are going big. Every second of It its important. Thank you for the excellent work to you guys and the team. BTW i know this one Is special but i wish for More episodes with bad cgi! Sometimes the title says bad cgi AND there Is none. I dont want to sound like an idiot even thou i do but actually i learn so much when u guys react to the bad cgi because that way i get to learn how to NOT do certain things! Just a thought dont mind me of course! Much love guys!

It's a shame Rings of Power was so bad, it had so much potential for VFX artists.
The show is not _that_ bad. Only the writing's bad and everything else is pretty good. And it's not like the VFXartists' potential ended since there's a season 2 in the future.
what does that even mean lol, whatever you think of the show it has incredible fx work.
Well, I'm sure the staff were Payed well and other roles are now open to them so.. The liking of the show is subjective.

With all the cool stuff going into Rings of Power from the artists and tech, it still manages to look like something a fan shot in their garden. All the money sunk into that show is a travesty.

Having been a VFX Editor for a studio that mainly did Compositing, I got to watch the progress of them doing a performance stitch from different points in the same take and melding them together in the movie Dead for a Dollar.
That last Michael Keaton flying breakdown blew my mind. 🤯

The rings of power one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen
The first big explosion in the hurtlocker is pretty amazing and worth covering I think
My favorite part is when Guyladriel says to Elrond, "You're a wizard, Harry."
The cinematographer that set up the go pros on the rig while capturing those flying shots should have got a raise for the amount of time and work they saved in the future. Not even mentioning how much better the shot turned out by having all that authentic scene information to use.
Would love to see you talk about Small Soldiers, mixing real life, cg and stop motion! Love you guys!
I would love to see a TV show that was on the air for a long time and how the effects changed, like Supernatural, or Stargate where the technology of the effects changed over the 15 years it was on TV

I’d love a sports - themed episode. So much goofy CGI used for baseballs especially, but when you contrast it against well done shots it sticks out that much more.

A cool alternative would be a look into how live sports overlays and VFX works, like the overlays on a football field, or replacing advertisements on the boards of a hockey game for the live broadcast.
I would love to see an episode featuring Korean cinema. Like the sky replacement from Parasite, the robot from space sweepers, the zombies in Train to Busan.

I'm sure you've done Jason And The Argonauts before but I've just been watching it again, and its still better sfx than a lot of films today. Can we give it some more love, please? It's a ridiculous feat of creativity and ingenuity
