Cousins isn't mediocre. He was on pace to have a career year last season. I think McCarthy will be good but part of me wants him to fail just to stick it to the Vikings fanbase that hates on Cousins for accepting contracts that were offered to him. He may not have gone to Atlanta, but he wouldn't have remained in Minnesota either. The Vikings front office told him that they were going in another direction and would select a QB high in this years draft and basically offered a 1 year "take it or leave it" deal to Cousins. So he went for the big guaranteed money in Atlanta with the mindset that it would be 4 comfy years, 180 million contract, and gets to play in his wifes hometown until his retirement. But he never counted on the Falcons brass pulling the rug out from beneath him with the drafting of Michael Penix. It's a worst case scenario for Cousins, i wouldn't at all be surprised if Mike McCartney is already exploring potential trade scenarios for his client.

Kirk Cousins will go home and roll around in his hundred dollar bills to feel better. He'll be fine.

What do you think he was going say . When kirk put video out on tennis court , kwesi was offering another 1 year band aid ( basically).
Vikings do everything backwards.....this is when they could've gotten him at 85m gtd over 2 years and a 3rd year in fungible dollars ( whatever it may be ).
Kirk is an improving 35 year old qb with I believe his best 2-3 years ahead of him. KOC understands this - unfortunately half the fan base wanted to reset at qb ( who don't understand what they're watching ).
NFC north would've been best division in NFC and , arguably, the 2nd best in all of football.
The vikings would've glided into playoffs and making good on nfl decision on having vikes-lions playing 2 of last 3 weeks.
The rams would've been odd man out as they lost to green bay and 3 teams would've been in from the north if achillies didn't pop . Maybe a playoff win and out but would've kept kirk and this would be one crazy year in nfc north.

Listen, I know alot of football people ho by the Parcells " you are what you are " adage but there are exceptions and outliers to every rule.....that one too.
I think kirk has played for bad teams who were at least 7 pt dogs and giving up 30 pts a game in playoffs except the giant game where the D couldn't stop a nice bleed . They turned D.Jones into a montana-young hybrid . Kirk's qbr/ratinng/pff was through the roof.
When he first came to minny, he wasn't a polished top 10 qb . He got paid like one but wasn't and zimms toxic nature towards offense ( especially cuz) really unprecedented.
It's my opinion he's one now ( top 10 ) and vikings finally have a decent defense and actual oline that shouldn't be a bottom unit( G-C-G).
The injury is the only thing that maybe muddies the water .
      ....but that's me .
His second year under kubiak( clint) was where I saw a big difference in his play which was the year before KOC was hired.
