I love this build. Just my 2 pennies... buckle up and wear a helmet. One of my best friends when I was in my 20's used to build crazy rides like this. He usually wore his safety gear, but the one time he didn't he was testing a buggy he just completed a rebuild on and he flipped it. He had ridden this buggy a 1000 times with no instances before this last one and it killed him.
Yup - unless there isn’t much compression. My ‘11 Camaro SS like 11.8-12.0 NA and about the same on 150 shot of nitrous on >10:1CR. My 95 Volvo 940T with 8.7:1 CR boosted to 15psi, liked 12:5-12.7:1 AFR. Decked the heads to 9:1CR and closer to 12.0 made the most power.
Man, that is one cool ass buggy! I just love what you did to that motor and other stuff as well. That son of a mother has some friggin’ power! Loving your videos, keep doing what you do. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us all. God bless brother! ✌️😎👍
I would like to see how to get the upgraded high performance parts and the price for the 670 v twin engine that you built. And man you are a awesome fabricator. I watch all your videos
Big Red I freaking love you guys man. Bad ass.. one thing as well and it's such a big yet surpassed detail is you can still work on and tear down that 670 as it sits on the kart. No obstructions.. I can keep watching your videos from the first one to most current over and over all damn day never gets old. #RBG #GOKARTS #MINIBIKES #MANCO
Hey red it's January 27th 2021. My son grew up starting out on dirt bikes, and now I bought him a quad. A 2004 LTZ 400, I want him to have both options. This kid outgrows his sneakers every other week! But as you can imagine ATVs and dirt bikes and performance parts are not as affordable as sneakers and closing LOL! The stock Z400 suspension is not blown, and is good but not appropriate for his weight at 11 years old. I have been contemplating rfy Chinese adjustable air suspension?! If you could help in any way at all with which rfy front suspension and which rfy rear suspension I should order for the Z400 I would be truly grateful! I figured I would go this route, because I can always upgrade later and start to spend more money depending on his growth rate I won't talk about his interest because, I've created a monster LOL, his second word was throttle at one years old and I'm not even kidding. My wife thought I was crazy because I bought him a Chinese ATV with a weedeater engine on it and I would chase behind him pulling the safety cord because he would just cheese and hit the gas and go! but now I have a hard time keeping up with him! I let him ride my LTR 450, but I have to make ridiculous hand gestures and pretty much put the fear of God in him because oh, well the kid is extremely fast and progressing quickly, it makes me extremely happy but at the same time makes me nervous, this is a dangerous sport as you know, so it's a hard battle holding him back and allowing him to progress, such large and more powerful machines can easily get away from him and hurt him and that's the dilemma, I want him to have fun but you know what I mean! Maybe the Z400 might be too much but he doesn't listen he's a good kid. Sorry for the extensive message. We love watching your videos and even when we think we know it all, at least your videos can reconfirm things and we even learn new things. Thanks red I really appreciate it
That Thunder Jet is almost like putting a passing gear in. It takes the same main jets as the carb. I was surprised to see that carb work with a blower. S&S carbs work better if the engine is revving 1st. That is a awesome looking cart you built. Looking forward to see how the Thunder Jet goes. Great video
If you ever watch when you use PB Blaster look closely it eats the rust and oxidation vs. many other favorite penetrants. Ever wonder what WD-40 stands for... Water Displacement formula 40 and there used to be different ones you could get like formula 38 which was developed by NASA. So it's not a penetrant like PB but more like a fine lubricant.
Has anyone put a holley 1100 single barrel on a smaller engine and had success? I have only seen the boostedboiz run EFI with boost but they used ecotrons EFI on a 200cc.
The primary clutch seemed not to move at all in the video ( not sure if it was expected to at those revs) but i would have thought it would have moved in and out a bit. I suppose it would need to run out on the road perhaps.
@@RedBeardsGarage if that is a mikuni carb try adjusting the jet needle in the slide before changing jet size, might help keep afr's right at idle but let more fuel in with throttle input
Rule of thumb I've found with tuning FI. Though, I'm not sure how well it'd work with your setup: Aim for around 12.5-13 when tuning. It gives a little bit of wiggle room to keep from pinging.
Update: if you can get closer to 11.5-12 under boost full load, it'd run much better if carbed. I keep forgetting you can't treat everything like it's direct injection.
I'm glad you put on the wideband. It would be a shame to lean out that hand built engine. Have you worked out the compression ratios for it? Static and dynamic. Once known you can select fuel and timing to really get all the ponies that are in there! Subbed.
Is there a reason why you decided to go with the non-adjustable version of the billet flywheel? Engines running with forced induction usually benefit greatly by optimizing the ignition timing, which the adjustable flywheel allows you to do.
Suspension looks a little too soft. Would you take that thing on some trails and rip it around? That would be really great to see. Great build, Red. Keep it up buddy.
You really need to cut out some aluminum sheet metal for some side panel covering and a little hood and a peace of lexan for a windshield for sure or some diamond plate one I think it would look awesome already does really but just a thought
13-14 afr is fine while idling or cruising. But that is way to lean in boost. 11-12 is where it needs to be, you have worked hard and it shows, don't melt it.
Now that you have a wideband, maybe you could throw a smaller pulley on the blower and really see what that engine is capable of. Im sure those billet rods can take whatever that lil blower can throw at it
it seems like the primary clutch wasnt fully engaging, i dont know if you were at peak RPM but it seemed like 50% engagement at most. badass buggy! wide open we aimed for 11.8-12.1 on a procharged 4.8 ls engine.
That"s a Big One! But then again it can't be small if Red Beard is gonna fit in it! LOL! Mean looking machine! I'd love to see you and Rather Be Welding with his new machine do a collaboration at Windrock!

I came to this channel for this build. I miss seeing more of it

you really want high 11's low 12's air fuels on boost. will run better and won't melt down.
This comment needs more likes.
this comment is spot on!!! high 11's for sure if on gasoline based fuels. idle is good 14-15
Under appreciated post for sure.
It will make better torque too

I cannot wait to see the 2 seater iteration of this thing!
RUclips's most underrated channel!!!!!!
Awsome vid! I could listen to that 670 sing its beautiful exhaust note all day.😎✌
Glad to see you doing something with it.
Blaster's great stuff and the manufacturer stands behind their products. Been using Blaster products for a long time myself. Whoop!
the driver pulley isnt even getting close to fully closing for speed.....
means thing has some actual top speed, thats awesome!
Looking great already, gonna be beautiful when it's all touched up and finished at the end. Can't wait to see what the engine is putting out!
Be sweet to see you build one of the new EC 236r Tillotson. I finally was able to pick one up. They had been out of stock for awhile
Didn't know Tillotson makes a 236r. Guess i`m not keeping up. Glad I saw this !

The engine just makes the whole thing! Way cooler than a run of the mill street bike buggy.
Awesome build man keep up the amazing work love seeing how far you've come that property is sweet

Cnt wait to watch the video from windrock!
How cool would it be to see a HD (elcheapo Baker) 6speed attached to this thing my goodness is that thing rowdy! I love it!
Your neighbour's are going to love you, would not be surprised if you find mufflers planted in you lawn. Gift from them.
wicked sounding buggy!
Now thats a man that knows how to sell a product 😂🤣😂 love you guys man.
Man this buggy just sounds so sick what a machine you have built here just nasty

Commercials and advertising. Is this RUclips?
Tampon commercial was over the top. Way to go guys!

Awesome video! Sounds and looks great.. it’s gonna be sick once it’s completed! Can’t wait 😜
I think that thing is sinister and sounds great it must be a wild ride
The sound of the buggy is baller😈💯
Thank you for the video RBG and god bless
I finally found a youtuber with a sponsor I already buy from that have new products 😎😎😎
That's one bad buggy!
Can't wait to see the dyno results. My guess is it's going to make 60hp
I'm betting they will be disappointed in the numbers it actually makesn
@@Shredxcam22 yea probably but it's still badass
dayum that 670 got sum BEANS
Wot needs to be 11.9 to 12.5 afr on pump

What color spring are you running in the primary?
Thank you ! You really cheered me up at the right time !
Really nice sound from that engine..😊👍
Sounds deadly.
Need to put the holly single barrel EFI on it. This should help a lot
We will be doing a EFI after the dyno of carb

Red keep it up my friend. Love your builds and your videos are very well done 😎🤘
Keep the vids on this project coming. Would really like to see you do baja style racing with it if possible in some type of custom class.
I am a n new subscriber, just found your channel yesterday... I've watched a bunch ir your videos... this is really cool.... looks like a ton of fun.
Sounds like you got the pullys figured out, what driver are you running? Possible links???
It's a polaris sportsman 500 pulley modified for a 1" shaft. Performance 670 has them.
what size tubbing do you use on your go karts and gauge ..what size on the buggy ?? want to build a 2 seater ,, good luck keep it on the wheels ..
this is the best project!!!
Can't wait to see the dyno results, I'm wanting to do this or a turbo on a Briggs V-twin I have that's on my project list.
The primary clutch seemed not to move at all in the video ( not sure if it was expected to at those revs) but i would have thought it would have moved in and out a bit.
I suppose it would need to run out on the road perhaps.
Did you tighten the billet flywheel completely? it shows you only hand tightening the bolts nice build though, looks and sounds sick
vinegar baths work really well for rust removal
ProjectFarm did a test on that and vinegar worked a little better than water.
@@brianrhubbard takes a while to work but if you leave it to soak over night next day it'll normal rinse off and look brand new

Dang man! Watch’ya got against grass?! You whooped that lawn like it owed you money! 🤣
Going to sell the mower in the spring and just use the boosted buggy lol.

I believe welded on tabs on aluminum tanks have a tendency to crack. Imo straps would work better.
Sounds so sick
Totally awesome wonder how that set up would perform in an odyssey
Now it needs a turbo kit
It sounds awesome
This video made me subscribe, all it needs is more CC's.
I've got one of those superchargers, what size pulleys did you use? I'm stuck on sizing them
I used the stock pulley that came on the blower and then used performance 670 alternator pulley on the crank shaft. I forget the sizes of both
Side question what diff you use? Got reverse?
