Doppelganger turns every weapon into an absolute boss-killer. The knife, the Bow, and the Shield are potentially the best weapons in the game in that order though. Upgraded Bow is the most improved weapon with Gold Armour as well, in my opinion. I love this game, and I'm glad it's here!

It's like Tim Burton crossed with Monty Python. Second, I love, love, LOVE the redesigns of the bosses! Not only did they stay true to the look of the original games, but they managed to look even creepier than before! ESPECIALLY Asteroth! He looks FUCKING TERRIFYING! One look at him, and you're gonna be sleeping with one eye open for weeks. So, yeah. I LOVE the art. Whoever did the designs for this game deserves a raise AND a bonus.

Most of the bosses seem the same regardless of difficulty.. They seem to take about the same number of hits as well. Definitely a huge difference in the actual stages though. Makes it a lot harder to get through them.
The stages are ludicrous on Legendary. Most things are double but then they add really annoying enemy placements. Trying to juggle all those things at once fries the brain.
Cyclops = The Unicorn Brute. Shielder = The Green Dullahan Knight. Dragon = The Metallic Serpent. Cerberus = The Three-headed Hellhound. Satan = The Dark Bat Devil. Beelzebub = The Lords of Flies. Astaroth = The Shadow Lord. Lucifer = The Devil King. Hades = The God of Underworld.
Ghosts n Goblins was the toughest game I played, more than Mike Tysons Punch Out lol.I got so frustrated I spent time upgrading my armor then it all went to pieces from one hit lol.I love this game it is challenging and worth playing.
After beating Astaroth, I was waiting for the "Oh no, you don't have the magic bracelet with mediocre range, you have to play the whole game again before we let you fight the end boss" schtick, and it never came. Not sure how to feel about that.
I thought the very same thing. There is no weapon that replicates the shield or psycho cannon (goddess bracelet). I do welcome bringing the dagger to the end boss fights.

This game is WAY harder than the original arcade game. The original has a lot of tips and tricks you can use to get past a lot of things. Getting to the halfway points on legend difficulty will take a newcomer hours.
Yeah, the original arcade is an honest to goodness joke compared to the difficulty of this game. I've never played a game more difficult in my life. I've beaten Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts numerous times, and sometimes even deathless. This is the hardest the franchise has ever been, but also the funnest!

Astaroth is the hardest and the most unfair boss in this game. First and second phase are ok but the third one is an absolute unfair nightmare. It took me 1 day to beat him.
I was expecting an anticlimactic request to get the Goddess Strike/Psycho Canon in order to fight the true final boss. Or Sardius to appear in some shape or form...
I mean his behavior: how he sitting and how attack - that dosen't looks like he serious. And he died doing same shit until the end. Not really epic final battle. But game is great. And you played well.

I'm asking why Arthur loses his armor, fully upgraded or not, after the first hit which automatically leaves him in nothing but his underpants and then becomes a pile of bones on the next. Seriously, you'd think that with his armor fully upgraded, he'd only lose ONE stage of the upgrade instead of fully downgrading to no armor at all on the first hit, then continue to downgrade until he's left naked except for his underwear, and THEN become a pile of bones on the fourth or fifth hit. Explain THAT, if you can.
I love pixel art but honestly I really love this style too. There's no other games out there like it, makes me think of Monty Python. The detail on the monsters and bosses looks fantastic
Am I the only one who got a glitch during the Satan fight? He despawned after knocking out the chandelier. It was humorous though and very anticlimatic.

This game is an incredible addition to the series. Legend difficulty is no joke and anyone who picks that difficulty will need to know the ins and outs of how this game works. It's different in that this game really wants you to use magic. Magic makes sections easier than just running and shooting everything. I've played through it 4 times and there are still things I'm learning about it.

i really love the way Arthur runs
I noticed his run animation gets more exaggerated as the games goes on (See Ghosts n Goblins arcade vs Ghouls n Ghosts arcade), and I love it.
Pretty sure if you have double slots, Dagger and Crossbow is the best combination since you'd have a good cone coverage
I tried that and I tried simultaneously firing them. It was good sometimes but the problem was I couldn't be consistent with it.

I was expecting Sardius as well. I though I would neet the cross to get the true ending.
There's collectables hidden throughout each stage - collecting them all allows you to fight the true final boss, Hades from Ultimate GnG.

He's the true boss of this game. I have him in another video. You gotta get all shadow orbs to face him.

It is if you can take punishment. Even on its easier difficulty it can be rough for newcomers

I think Lucifer is supposed to be his 2nd form, like you beat Satan then he turned into Lucifer after.

I still don't know how lucifer enslaved Astaroth tho since Astaroth was the hardest boss to me in this game
Altho is the 3 original Goblins, ghost and super Lucifer was the hardest final boss
The real question why the same bosses of ghoul n ghost.....
why dose Astaroth in this game look like the offspring of King Dedede from Kirby and Violator from Spawn?
