definitely worthwhile gives you privacy, wind and rain protection and would be good for cold winters down here in Tassie .

Definitely! And well worth it for some of our windy coastline here in the West!!

I use mine almost each time. I have extra tent poles, I even spread one between the main centre arms to stretch out the sag.
Where you mentioned about tripping in the doorway, on the beach you cover the bottom of the walls with sand to block the wind completely. Also makes that front door lip disappear. I also unzip wall panels and use extra poles to extend shade area. But that's where it starts becoming an effort to set up. Note where the straps are for securing the awning closed, when open you can push the tails of the straps through so theyvare tucked above the awning not hanging down into the doors.
Rolling up, I close the awning, get it neat into the triangle, then grab 30cm of the tip of the triangle and fold it straight up, then roll up, makes it all nice and even and not bunched on one side when trying to close the bag

Awesome tips mate! Im looking to sort something between the 2 centre arms did you just use a oztrail pole from bcf? Otherwise my other possible option was going to be a kings swag pole?

Yes I used the oztrail aluminium adjustable twistlock tent poles. Can buy oztrail spigots to replace caps at other end so you have spigot each end. The mk2 awning actually has rubber blanks inside the arms to pop them out and spigots go right in. Just pay attention to what size spigots you need think they come in 16, 19, 21mm inner pole sizes.

Have you considered dual snorkels on your overlanding vehicle. I hear it is all the rage in Bavaria.

Nah haven’t considered it at all! In all fairness the snorkel was on my car when i bought it cant say id get one had it not been on there. The airbox isnt water tight so i can only assume its there for cool airflow into the motor which some say is better on the motor but as i don’t have much background in that area i couldn’t say.

My son has been through two awnings so far the same as yours had the walls did you buy the walls for $699.00 on market place the add flashed really quick.😮

$699.00 is Darche’s retail price! Luckily enough people usually dont use them and i picked them up for $300 still a bit steep but i think worth it at that price point! Those cheaper awnings don’t really stand a chance these days!

I am very interested in something like this, but I am concerned about the fact that the roof is flat. It seems perfect for sun protection but do you think it is sturdy enough to hold up during a night of decent rain or even snow? do the legs allow you to set it up at an angle? I would love a mounted awning but I'm afraid it isn't practical enough. Sorry if you mentioned that, but ive been watching lots of these videos recently and kinda skip through.

Look in my personal oppinion I think decent rain it could handle there is particular sagging between the poles which would allow for run off in the instance. However the mention of snow obviously would depend on how much you encounter if it was a significant amount at any one time like anything if you put weight onto it it probably wouldn’t last but they are pretty sturdy and with the extra poles should manage most conditions

      Hope that helps

@@lastminutelivin Thanks. That is pretty much the answer I expected but it really helps to hear from someone who has personally used one. I'm from the US and expect to be car camping in the snow a lot this winter, so to be safe I think I will need a more traditional tent or tarp set up. Im not experienced enough to know what average conditions I can expect. I dont plan to sleep under it, but I would like to leave it set up for the night to be able to cook under it at least.

@RicGrylls i think it should hold up unless you get significant rainfall or snow but i can’t imagine that would be much fun but yeah i think like you said you would find this is the case with most awnings.. theoretically the poles do work on a twist and extend system if you check out my video on the awning that might help ✌🏼
