Just found this channel ... i have a Kings 2.5 x 2.5 with a 2.5 x 3 m side wall works great as long as i dont get pissed before its all set up LOL had a few issues that were my fault ... but one night out at a Mates Property i was set up ... and then went to his house to smash beer and Cook in the fire pit he had set up everyu other year i was there ... any way ... while havin dinner and whatever ... i was too pissed to lower a corner on the awning ... when i went to bed ... the middle of the awning was full of water and drooped in the middle so much that it was resting on my camp chair ... emptied it ... when got home dried it right out and still doesnt miss a beat
Happy with mine for the price and for the amount of use it gets. I sprayed the bag zipper with some silicon spray lubricant which has kept it working nice and smooth. Also changed the guy ropes and pegs with stronger ones which I already had.
Main issue i experienced was the rivets on the main frame failed along the entire length after driving on corrugated roads. I ended up installing small nuts and bolts in their place and no problems in years since.
I’ve seen $200k+ set ups with a kings awning, if you set them up properly you’ll have No problems the Aluminium Knuckles are better then the Nylon knuckles you get on the Bigger brands IMHO.
Been using both mine for 4 years+. As good as any other brand in this category and more affordable.. New version has a couple of improvements.. Great products as you say..👍🇦🇺
Good review mate and a lot of good tips to keeping them in reasonable order. I agree, for the price, its hard to beat & while they may not be as well engineered as others, but if they are set up properly, you are a testament to them being able to live the test of time. Like & sub. Cheers
Helped me finally grab one, 🙌 cleaned up my van soo much too hey, had 4 ropes to different tie down points and a tarp, worked sure looked like a hobo though, little wind would blow and the corner of the tarp would tap the windows, no more tapping sound and just looks clean around the van when set up
Thx mate 👏 for me I bought one & mounted it today without doing amy reviews on them. When you said they are cheap I had a moment of concern ... quickly erased by your confidence in your experience of yours... Again Thx
I reckon it also a bit of snobbishness about owning an arb, darche etc over a Kings one for some people. For the price and the use it gets for me it represents better value.
Its not kings gear that people hate its kings service when something happens or you want your money back on a product you bought 1 minute ago or 30 days you won’t get your money back and after is very bad
As I said In the video mate, I've had 2 now and both have been excellent. it says more about the person using it than the product if you're breaking them all the time👍
@@twox4x432 agreed, im on my second one, snapped the first one but I set it up in an open spot with no wind, woke up to howling wind and my awning on the other side of my ute haha. Any awning would of broken in that instance and id way rather pay an 8th of the price and break 8 of them than break 8 of them anyways and spend 8 grand hahaha
$109? what a waste of money. They are rubbish!! Flimsy....they break and get a wind under them? Nah!! would not give you $5 for it. Fine in your back yard. ....but take it out to a real adventure....hmmmm....Nah!
You obviously either don't know how to set up an awning or just hate kings gear. I have just finished a week long fraser trip a month ago in some extremely gnarly winds and my and my 2 mates awnings did not budge. If you know how to correctly set an awning up with guy ropes it will not move 👍
I just picked up the Kings 2x3 awning for my Amarok. Kings gear is great for getting yourself started in 4wding. Thanks for the video.
I’ve had mine now for about 3 yrs now, & value for money the best.
Honestly can't beat them for the price aye!
Agree. Same here.
Awesome love mine as well! Less you spend the more you can spend on beer
Ahahaha yeah I'd rather spend it on more gear but each to their own 👌

Ahahaha what a story! It's crazy how much of a beating they can cop on the canvas aye. Thanks for dropping by hope you enjoy the content mate 😃

Yeah some lube on the zip is definitely needed, haven't upgraded the guy ropes yet but definitely something I will do in the future!
Still going strong?
The only problem i had was the velcro straps weren't long enough, so i extended them, all good now
That is a good point actually that I didn't point out they could be a bit longer aye👍👌
Main issue i experienced was the rivets on the main frame failed along the entire length after driving on corrugated roads. I ended up installing small nuts and bolts in their place and no problems in years since.
Cheers mate. Vid suggestion - how to mount it? Difference between mounting on roof racks or onto the side of a cage?
Yeah thanks mate good idea I might look at doing something like that in the bear future!
Mate mine is mounted to the cage on my trailer works as good ... i dont have to pack up camp to go driving

Good video mate.
What lube did you use on the poles and plastic?
Cheers mate.

Yeah I love em mate especially for the price compared to others as u said
Can you give us the new improvements?
Cheers
@@twox4x432 Bag is a better fit and LED light.
Well you learn something new every day, lithium grease, never heard of it before. That's going on my bunnings shopping list👍
Thanks mate
it's brilliant stuff it's just in a can so I just sprayed some on and worked it in
I use silicon spray. Works a treat..
Candle wax on zippers (showing my age), its dry not wet, won't attract dust
Thanks for the tip on the zip.

I bought a Dune one for $99 on special I think quality is slightly better but you can’t go wrong with any of these , just wait til they go on special.
Very good info mate, cheers. Pitty about the noisy road you live on, crikey it's busy & loud
I know aye makes it hard to record any videos ahaha
That's probably why he goes camping 😂😂
I have 2 of them on my rig i have the 270deg and a single with a kings tent for it and 3 walls for my 270 deg they are the best
Yeah beauty mate, how does the 270 go?

Beauty mate glad u liked the vid!
Great video and advice. Timed setup and the actual method helpful. Well done
Thanks mate! Really appreciate it 👌👍
Great information there, and proof they aren’t that bad.
Thanks heaps mate, yeah I always think it's how you treat things that matters 👍👌
Great video mate 👍🏻
Cheers mate glad you enjoyed!
Nothing wrong with Kings or Dune. Whatever gets people out and about is a good thing imho.
Thanks mate , great tips!
Thx mate
👏 for me
I bought one & mounted it today without doing amy reviews on them. When you said they are cheap I had a moment of concern ... quickly erased by your confidence in your experience of yours...
Again Thx
Everyone shits on kings, but every time I go in store, the place is full
I know aye their stuff really isn't that bad if you look after it
Exactly
@Tony F agree👍
I reckon it also a bit of snobbishness about owning an arb, darche etc over a Kings one for some people. For the price and the use it gets for me it represents better value.
ha ha....good marketing. They are rubbish.
Well done. Thanks
Great work
Top review, well presented
Thanks mate
Yo I got featured baby
ahahah yeah the one who doesn't tie his awning down 😂😂😂
Its not kings gear that people hate its kings service when something happens or you want your money back on a product you bought 1 minute ago or 30 days you won’t get your money back and after is very bad
It's not the awnings that are crap it's the L-shape brackets that let things down they are weak.
Yeah fair enough I haven't seen any problems with the brackets myself tbh but you might have a different experience
if you get a couple of years out of it good, then buy another, they are $100, and im poor
Kings ...Creating landfill since 2012
As I said In the video mate, I've had 2 now and both have been excellent. it says more about the person using it than the product if you're breaking them all the time👍
I absolutely agree.
