Have NAS416Play with 24 TB with Raid Hybrid configuration so its 18TB free space, along with great high performance router and Kodi from Nvidia 4K (they have finally fixed all the bugs related to 4k movie playback). This all costed around 1.5K, can play all 4k Blu-Ray Rips without any quality loss and Kodi is so far superiour due to its extensive customization.
Why are all RUclipsrs compare this with a streaming box? Why don’t you compare it with Blu-Ray? The only major thing Kalaidescape does is it adds convenience unlike physical media. I’m good with physical media.
Yes it’s for a luxury experience. Not having to put up with all the previews and just having the movie start is a big plus. Also the ability to create scenes and a script of scenes is very cool. And there are some movies where the content exceeds the physical disc limitations and the Kaleidescape system gets you the full copy, but that’s not too many. Not to mention the new feature of renting a bit perfect copy rather than traipsing to Redbox for a scratched up version. Thanks for watching
The question is, does it save the movie on its HD and it work if your internet goes down, it can only hold less than 200 movies, but I have 5000 movies saved on my External hard-drive, the bigger question is do I want blue ray quality movies, or do I want 5,000 average quality movies.
@@David-dj5kb Your cheaper option is not comparable in terms of size and image quality. It is like somebody saying they would save money compared to your system as they will buy an LCD screen. There is nothing wrong with your option just not as high end though.

Yeah agree, but this is designed for rich people, who throw bucks at all up and ready solutions without any hassle to set this up yourself. So they aim at this market, for someone who spends 5k the same as someone spends 300-500 quid, is like normal for a good device. ))
You can't, as I believe they use their own designed piece of software (Movie Store), where they store all 4k copies of all released videos. I know there are much better solution to buy and watch movie until its not release to a public ( around 1 or 2 weeks), but this costs much much more and usually available for celebrities, who doesn't go to public cinemas. And every movie playback costs around 70-150 bucks ))
@@bighands69 minus their proprietary UI, not really. The files themselves have the potential to being a better quality then the discs released, but they have yet to take advantage of that. The hardware they use is not really proprietary. I'm sure there are aspects to it that they own, especially the look and function, but to create the same 1:1 experience, hardware wise, is definitely achievable for a far less price. But if you're buying this, price probably isn't an issue. I actually like this product, I just wish it was accessible to a bigger audience. @@theheadsn They are not ripping Blu Ray discs and their equipment and service is at commercial theater grade which is not the case for Blu Ray on large format screen systems. I am afraid you have convinced your self that you can equal what they are doing but you are using a secondary file that has already been compressed.
@@bighands69 Youre partially correct, they are given a superior file of the film to work with. But from what I know, and I could be wrong because its been awhile since I checked, they only offered a hand full of movies that were 100G+, over what physical media holds. As well as only having a handful of movies that have their audio/visual re-edited by their in house crew. So what happens when I buy this bazillion dollar player and then the company goes out of business sometime in the future. Does this mean I'll be pretty much SOL when it comes to my bazillion dollar player not being able to download future movie titles? If so, this would be a hell to the no! lol - I could MAYBE see this being a worthwhile investment to those of us who love our home theater hobby but lets get real here. Paying thousands of dollars for a piece of hardware that is only tied to one company that not a lot of people have ever heard doesn't sound too promising to me. Maybe I would see things differently if this type of hardware was sold and supported by very well known companies like Apple or even Amazon because everyone knows these companies aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Can't say the same for the Kaleidescape company.
I see your point but the company has been around for more than 20 years. And chances are business is booming since Covid. So I wouldn’t let this hold you back.

How large of an external drive can you add? Just one terabyte or was that a brand name you mentioned? Thanks
I think they sell 24 terabyte storage options but they are expensive.

Geez..... $5000 and no Dolby Vision. Pass...
No one with a reference system cares about Dolby Vision. HDR with DTM is what’s important. Dolby Vision doesn’t add anything.

It is a cinema grade system not comparable to a cheap blu ray player.
Better than playing a native blu-ray on a top of the line blu-ray player? Because of "error correction"??? Nonsense.
And $4500 US Plus the cost of each movie. WoW
I can do most of that with my apple 4K tv and Plex
No streaming services provide lossless movies.
@Trevor Mitchell
Your system is not as good in terms of image nor could it easily do a 200 inch screen in a home theatre with high quality.
Haha, except for the most important part: the audio and video quality.
And no, you don’t get the same file management on an Apple TV.
yeah.....nowt beats sitting in your theatre on a Saturday night🤣📽....
That music while you are speaking is terrible. 😭
Get Plex.
Not comparable and that is just for people on a budget.
So all someone needs to do is copy the interface/software and youd have the exact same experience for 1/8th the cost....
