After watching movies on streaming services for months, I decided to pop in a 4k movie disc with Atmos to test some changes I made and I realized how bad audio is while streaming. My system just came back to life again. I really hope Kaleidescape becomes more mainstream and affordable. I'd love to own one but for now used 4K discs on ebay will have to do.
With the inevitable end of physical media for movies, we need more platforms like this competing for our business so that the prices can start to come down to earth and be a real option of the the majority of us HT enthusiast... I don't want to have to sacrifice audio and video quality when watching movies, but I also don't want to have to take out an equity loan to have an uncompromised movie watching experience. : (
@@AudioAdvice You would think if way more people could afford the device, then they would make up the cost of investment with all the move rentals and purchases that they would be gaining. Because for me the real hurdle is the thought of paying $6,000-$12,000 for the equipment, and then also still having to pay $8 for each rental and $30-$40 to own these digital movies. That's a big ask unless you are a very wealthy person IMO. Lol
have you not seen the prices for this box?? up to $10,000. if you want to save money, buy 4KUHD when theyre on sale. they can be over 50% off and youll have the option to sell them later on.
You’re also off that BD’s max capacity is 66GB. Some movies are on triple layer 100GB discs for the UHD version. Disney though has really cheaped out by capping at their 4K discs at 66GB. More of an indictment on Disney short changing their disc customers. At $6K it’s a strong pass. If it was $2K I might take a chance but I can buy a lot of discs for that price not to mention getting a premium player like the UB9000 too.
Yes and No. While you can build a comparable hardware setup on your own for far less money, the real unique selling point of the Kaleidescape system is the movie store which has all the content licensed from the studios for digital download at this extremely high quality. In order to feed your own NAS you will either have (somewhat illegally) ripped your BluRay-discs with the well known software tools or you got the content from "the internet". I don't mind if you do, but when you are for example docking your 100m+ Megayacht with 100+ connected movie players in Singapore, which does not condone content piracy in any way, you want your media collection on board to be absolutely legal.
First of all you pay close to $5000 on the 4k stream device and then you pay to buy movie or rent ….. Sorry I will continue to purchase 4k disc until I find cheaper option

@@pushplayergames Obviously there not the right clientele but their arguments are valid. Access to something like this for your average person would be great. I've been a Kaleidescape owner for a few years now and I have to say it is hands down THE BEST way to watch movies. Yes the system is expensive but so worth it in terms of actual content. To watch movies in lossless format is an unbelievable experience. It looks and sounds just like the film did in the theaters. The addition of Rentals recently only added to the overall experience. I like the car analogy mentioned below. You think your car runs great until you get in and drive a Ferrari. The difference is literally night and day. I do not have a dedicated HT room and the Kaleidescape still elevates my movie-watching experience THAT much! Cannot recommend it enough!
Great video. I've been watching this product for years. I was very glad when they finally added rentals this past year. I am basically looking for product exactly like this. One where I can download a rental or a purchase in the highest quality possible. Only, as most people, I feel the pricing on the Kaleidescape is way over priced. I am willing to spend a premium it is just feels like theft. As they also get a cut from each movie sale or rental. I would think they would want to lower the pricing so they can get one of these in as many homes as possible. Giving more opportunity to have people purchase and rent from them. I will still be waiting...
Yes, the hardware is expensive but is made extremely well. When you watch a movie you can rent for 7.99 on a front projection screen larger than 150", it is just so obvious how good this product is. Thanks for watching
Hey PS. I wrote a bit above about some of the benefits of a Kaleidescape system, and am happy to go through them with you on a call if you are interested. While the PQ/AQ are outstanding, it's really the sum of all the features that provide the value to our community. Easy to purchase content, more 4K content than is available on disc, everything in one place and always lossless compared to streaming, and all the details that go into rock-solid hardware that is designed for years of trouble-free use are just some of the value that often gets skipped over when just comparing it to another player. The company has done a lot over the past year, lowering our disc-to-digital pricing to help new and existing owners import their current physical media collection, having weekly movie sales that let people buy their favorite blockbusters for $10-$15; and launching new products like the compact Terra that offer some of the full-size Terra's fan favorite features at a lower price point; you really need to check out the platform as a whole to fully understand the value we provide. If you do have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at: training@kaleidescape.com and I'm always happy to chat. Brett Bjorkquist Kaleidescape
While i enjoy the idea of this, the price point is just atronomical. When in this current day and age you can still own your movies (4K UHD Disc), Burn them to digital and find them for cheaper. There really is no reason to own this unless your super rich and or just too lazy to put in the disc. I think this will be a great option when we have no other options
Hey K-CAS. From a physical media collector or someone with a more technical background that treats the collecting part as a hobby in itself, I understand. For many though, they enjoy watching movies, want to enjoy them in the best quality possible, but don't have the time to spend, the technical knowledge, or the interest in building a machine they have to manage themselves. Calling them super rich or lazy isn't a fair assessment. We don't all wrench on our own cars, grow our own food, or multitudes of other similar analogies. The PQ/AQ is one benefit of Kaleidescape, but it's the ease of use, the fact that anyone can pick up the remote and use it, the award winning cover art and navigation, and the daily work that the engineering and content team put into the product that drives people to Kaleidescape. Even those that have an IT background and have built their own servers before, often end up with a Kaleidescape system once they've gotten a chance to play with it because they can respect the work that goes into it, and recognize it can't just be compared to a disc or stream. There is also the control system integration that ties in lighting, shades, electric screen masks and anamorphic lenses, options not really available on any other platform, or in order to do it you'd spend tens of hours for each movie trying to add in favorite scenes and other features that make the platform unique and provide the recognized value our community puts on the product. Here's two examples of people I met after they bought their systems. They both have built DIY systems in the past, but as jobs got busier and families grew, they decided to jump into the ecosystem, and loved it enough to volunteer to talk about it. Matt Blair: ruclips.net/video/htseNCB9AGE/видео.html Travis: ruclips.net/video/TkyvgFEjJGU/видео.html FYI, I head up education and engagement for Kaleidescape. If someone is happy with their current platform, that's great as the goal is to enjoy the movies however you want. Kaleidescape employees are passionate movie, TV, and concert lovers, and we invest a ton of time and resources into providing our Kaleidescape community with the best product available. I know it isn't the price point everyone would like, but this isn't a huge, faceless company, it's filled with people working hard to build a product that offers owners the best quality content, a larger selection of 4K content than is available on disc, a content team that manages relationships with more than 50 different studios and hand creates favorite scenes and lighting/aspect ratio triggers for movies, plus an engineering team driven to continually create new benefits for our clients like rentals, PVOD, as well as automatic notifications and support if anything goes wrong with a client's system. These are real benefits expected of a premium product, and you can often find myself and other employees answering questions at night and on the weekend in various forums; it's simply a different level of passion and service than you get from a disc player or DIY ripping product. I hope that provides a bit more insight into the price, and while I never say anything negative about anyone choice in platform, I believe Kaleidescape provides a solid value for those looking at the overall experience, which is why you see so many users and reviewers constantly talking about why they love Kaleidescape. If you or anyone have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at training@kaleidescape.com and I'm happy to help. Brett Bjorkquist Kaleidescape
@@AudioAdvice You should do blind comparisons using affordable products like Nvidia's Shield TV. You could do a lossless rip of a 1080p BluRay and play it back through the Shield TV with it's awesome upscaler to 4k and compare to this.
The beauty about discs that after watching them you can sell some and get another you can't do that in any other "service" because you don't actually 100% own the movie
$18k for the "best bang for the buck" system, huh. I did little maths. Yeah, I know, maths. That's a premium 65" inch TV, a very good sound system (not any of that soundbar thing), premium Revon 4K UHD BD player, and around 600 4K UHD discs at an average cost of 15 bucks apiece. Let that sink in for a moment. This system sounds very nice but actually, your money does you WAY MORE by going with the physical media. With discs, you can have Dolby Vision. With this system, you can't? I don't want to hear any can'ts with that price tag!
At least name the price if you do a sponsored item like this. At the end it is mentioned that it used to be 20.000 dollar but this systeem is still very expensive over a 4k player. And what about outside the US? There used to be no subtitles and the library was much smaller. And if you rip your movies on disc to this system do you have advantage over the expanded bandwith?
really enjoyed this video, it gave a lot of technical information, however, the failed part of it is that you don't talk price which tells almost all viewers that it's incredibly expensive. you should have mentioned price for each item so we could all truly be informed viewers/consumers. still, a very good and technically informative video on the system.
Yes, we used to give the prices, but with so many of them increasing, we had upset customers when they would see the video a year after it was out, go to buy, and it had gone up a lot. It was a catch 22, but we do agree with you, we wish YT let you have something that allowed for a dynamic pricing overlay or something like that. Thanks for watching
Great video. The explanation of the KScape was very helpful. The product is, of course, not for everyone but for the HT enthusiast with the resources, it’s well worth considering.
No it isn't. Even if they have the money, that money could go into so many other things that would be so much more of an upgrade to their experience. There's no justifiable reason for these prices. Any vendor who sells these have proven themselves to not care at all about the customer because they did they could never allow themselves to recommend them to their customers.
Wish there a place to download full bitrate HD movies in a digital format for a price of course All digital downloads I've seen (Google Store, iTunes, Playstation Store) are compressed down to maybe 5GB per movie whereas the video file off of a blu-ray is usually 25 gigs or higher for atmos
Yes that would be nice but it took Kaleidescape over 10 years to convince the studios to allow it. All of the "stores" tie your content to your user ID wheras if it was downloaded it could be distributed freely. Unless someone came up with a "store". So far that is only Kaleidescape and the studios require the movie to be linked to the users account.
If you dont own previous kaleidescape systems (like the vault or premiere line) and will buy a strato, how do you enter the disc to digital upgrade program that you mention?
We are an authorized online seller of Kaleidescape and can give you full remote support, although set up is really easy. We have delivered a lot of these all over the US. The Strato has been discontinued though since we did this video. They replaced it with Terra drives and mini players that download way faster and let you download while watching. Here is a link to our store, and we have a price guarantee and free lifetime tech support www.audioadvice.com/shop-by-brand/kaleidescape
The greed is insane. You know it's probably only $200-300 worth of hardware MAX. It's a monopoly created via the movie studios... I believe is also designed to prevent piracy, for which is also helped with the high paywall.
Yes, it is really super simple. During a movie or concert, simply push the menu button and you see an option to create a custom scene. You can then choose your start and stop points, then name it. Creating a script is even simpler. This has to be done on a computer but you have options and drop downs including the artwork of the movie, you can add timers, etc, rearrange the scenes. it is just super cool for creating playlists. Hope this helps, please reach out to our team for more questions at www.audioadvice.com
Remove money from the equation and this stomps any nas/plex setup. Also if you account for time spent ripping discs and torrenting, it definitely is the better option.
The reality is that unless you have a very highly resolving system, both in video and audio, you’re not going to notice a difference with Kaleidescape. It’s awesome, but if you’re not watching from a $25K+ system with 100” or larger screen, spend the money to buy UHD discs instead.
We agree, Kaleidescape is for the luxury buyer who also has a system with high resolving power. But on systems like that, it is incredible. Thanks for watching
Most people don't really want to have a massive collection of Blu-Rays. It costs a lot of money to do that and what happens when a new format comes out. It also takes a lot of space.
8K will probably never happen, for consumer content. Even if it did, it would likely be indistinguishable from 4K (for most consumers and common viewing distances).
I wonder if you can see the different on an 83 inch OLED from LG or Sony. Connect the Kaleidescape and an reference Blu-ray player from Panasonic or Oppo. Dolby Vision from UHD ... WoW !
The ethernet connection is purely to download bit perfect movies and to send the signal to the players if you have a separate server/player system. Thanks for watching
As mentioned, it's designed to download movies, but also provides a secure A/V over Ethernet connection from the server to a Strato C player. That way you can watch multiple movies in multiple rooms by adding a Strato C player locally or in a distribution configuration.
Ender, that is really odd, we asked everyone here who has access if they deleted it and no one did. Our team can go over more details, but basically once you get a system set up, we can loan you an Alto to load all your physical media on. Then in the store, you will see the cost to upgrade them to their system. We see these ranging from a low of 4.79 to a high of about $30, with most falling at 8.79 for HDR. We have not figured out any pattern on the pricing as sometimes it is under $5 to go from DVD to HDR and other times it is much more. Hope this helps. It is an incredible system for very high performance home theaters.
What's the old saying... I have a beer budget with champagne taste? I watched a bunch of home theater videos and noticed one thing. Everyone had this. I too one day shall have this.
@@AudioAdvice would you guys be willing to explain why it’s so expensive? I mean $6,000 for 6 TB seems outrageous so please anything explanation would be helpful!
Exactly this. If the company discontinues the service and the player inevitably dies eventually, everything that you "own" is gone. This makes sense as a rental platform, but not for purchases.
I like the concept, but that isn't for average joe with a home theater. It's geared toward upper middle class and above. Ill buy it if ot ever drops below 1K for "system" and why not include both technologies in one box?
Thanks for the explanation - but for know I will keep buying Ultra Blue Rays. But in a few years if it get to the 1k -2k range I will consider. But given the advances in streaming so far, who know what’s going to happen in a few years. Thanks again
So…. I own about 3000 optical titles already… so this conversion at a great price is the first time i’ve actually gotten excited about K-scape…. Talk to me about this…. If i can get my titles converted, the system as a whole might indeed pay off for me… But, i want them all on a server in my home… is this possible?
You would need a Kaleidescape server for this. You do have a huge collection. You would probably need 2 or 3 of their 72TB servers depending on how many are 4K. It is likely not all of them could be converted, but a good portion probably could be. But the size of your collection means you would need to spend almost 70K to get the storage space in the Kaleidescape system. Please reach out to our team at www.audioadvice.com for more questions
@@AudioAdvice - thank you so much for the reply… Yes, quite large, and still growing… though a lot slower these days. (Been collecting since LD , DVD, 2K and 4K (and even HD-DVD!) My ultimate concern was how to participate in the trade in program… I wouldn’t want to repurchase all these titles at anything but a couple dollars each. Otheriwse it doesn’t work. Fortunately only 1211 are 2K of which 832 are 4K… so, I was thinking 2 servers and one player… I’ll connect to see what could be done. Thanks
@@mikewinburn Mike. That makes sense. The typical upgrade cost to move to HDR is usually $4-8. Sometimes 15-17. Normally that’s the only option which would in theory for the ones that way increase the storage size need.
@@AudioAdvice well that makes sense because the larger the screen the more artifacting becomes apparent...devices like these would only benefit people running 130 inch 4k projectors...and even then, you wouldn't see the difference between using a high end 4k BluRay player. Another good comparison would be to rip a 4k BluRay lossless in the x265 format. You would have a smaller file size but probably wouldn't see a loss in quality. On 85 inch TVs, I never could but maybe on bigger it would be something to check.
@@GSP-76 Actually on larger screens (160" scope size and up) with a projector like a Sony GTZ380, 5000, JVC top of the line, etc, you can easily see the difference between an Oppo 105 and the Kaleidescape. You have to be at that level, but it is there, it has this clean, super artifact-free image you just have to experience to understand it...and we all have Nvidias. so we understand what they can do :)
A beautiful complement to your $275,000 custom home theater! We built ours in a 2,000sq/ft subbasement. Wealth inequality has not skipped over the A/V and HT spheres. Sadly, there are plenty of people out there who have enough to spend more than this on restaurant visits every week. (Courtesy of their underpaid workers, of course.)
100GB per movie ? For 99% of Australians, that is nothing short of fantasy. I get that this is for the 1%, but the 'system requirements' are way OTT for mine.
I hear you Arthur. Unfortunately high-speed internet is still tough in some areas, but the file size is there from a quality perspective. Hopefully faster downloads will become a reality in more places in the years to come.
Sounds great, but unfortunately it requires a second mortgage to get even the lowest tier combo of player and server, not to mention all the other gear needed to make this work.
The problem with Kaleidescape, in my humble opinion, is that its future is highly dependent on the relationship between the owners and movie studios. If key owners are accused of anything in their real life, it could lead to studios immediately severing ties with the company and taking back what K-Scape customers have already purchased. It's a good product but its future is not guaranteed if we're being honest. But if I am worried about losing a few thousands-worth of movies I have already watched, then I guess I am far from the target customer of this product.
Actually there is more risk with the huge tech companies where you pay the same price for a movie and it is stored in their cloud. With Kaleidescape, the movie sits on your Kaleidescape server. If things blew up you would just unplug it from the internet and you would be fine. Thanks for watching
One will also need an high bitrate internet connection to stream at 100mps. So I need to spend thousands and then rent or buy titles? That's crazy if true.
The Kaleidescape does not stream. It downloads. So it just takes longer to download a film if you have a slow connection but your connection speed has zero impact on quality. Yes it’s very expensive but the very best in any category always is. Thanks for watching
This is right up there with having a CD carousel with 300 CDs. Today I have a Tidal account that makes a physical CD player and discs pointless today. Similarly this service / hardware made sense a decade ago when people had DSL or otherwise slow ISPs. Today people can get 10Gbps home internet, I have slower 2.5Gbps (2500Mbps) home FiOS internet, meaning people like myself have zero desire or in particular a need to download to a local "NAS" aka Kaleidoscope server movies. It adds one more level of needless stuff in your house. Personally I own several thousand discs and they're all sitting in boxes, an overwhelming monstrosity. I've trimmed it down to a couple thousand movies that I repurchased through other streaming services. This company needs to offer a live streaming service or they'll go bankrupt. Potentially losing several thousand dollars worth of paid movies doesn't sit well either.
This is a good product and service but is way overpriced. Since this company has already been through bankruptcy once if it happens again all the movies you buy will be gone. If the price doesn't come down it could happen again.
You have a point, but Kaleidescape owners are extremely passionate about this product. Many of them are in the 1% of the 1% and could step in with pocket change to bring them back. Many helped last time. Their business now though is stronger than ever with the new offerings and increased content in the movie store. Thanks for watching
It could be an option if the prices are reasonable. At the current cost, I don't think it's targeted to 99% of your viewers. As others mentioned, we are fine with the Blu-Ray for now.
Fair point. Kaleidescape has always been the premium product. Like many premium products, they have gone to incredible lengths to address every detail and make it a great user experience. But it historically has been out of reach for most people. However, more recently they have been working hard to create options at lower price points which we appreciate. Here is the current product: www.audioadvice.com/kaleidescape-strato-c-4k-ultra-hd-movie-player
i have a very large blu ray collection why would i buy them all again if i could transfer them all on the hard drive for free fine but not buying them again. Its not a bad idea but way too pricey when i can buy a disc from CEX for at least £10.00 or cheaper
It is a luxury product, designed for the very best picture and sound, but if you have a huge bluray collection already, they do have a cool way to add them to the system. You purchase a cheap bluray reader, then they can satisfy the studios that you own the content. You can then do what is called a digital upgrade. In many cases (except Disney franchise) you can take an SD dvd even and pay $4-8 for an HDR version.
It does not, you have to remember most Kaleidescape owners have a front projection video system and there is no front projector that supports Dolby Vision and probably never will be. Thanks for watching
I do not get why this needs proprietary hardware instead of being just a digital store, that is, beside milking customers out of every penny... $18k for the basic setup?! Do you have any idea of the level of home server you can build for that price AND still have to spare for physical uhd blu-rays? One can just rip the disks and archive them into their server if they care about instant access...
The Kaleidescape is for the person who has a very high performance theater and wants the best possible picture and sound. iTunes is ok, but regular BluRay would be a huge upgrade for you. Thanks for watching
@@AudioAdvice thanks. I definitely would like to have best picture and sound. I’m just to invested into iTunes for thousands of dollars worth of movies to stop buying there and start buying blue ray and this system
Garbage. For their pricing the storage should be included in the purchase of media for free. As you increase your collection, WBTW is how they should make money, you will automatically be upgraded with increasing storage. At $4,495 for the 6TB player and as much as $37 per 4K HDR movie it's just not an option.
Don't call it garbage because you don't like the prices. Mass market consumers [who usually only care about price] are NOT the target demographic, for a Kaleidescape system. This platform is marketed at passionate home theater enthusiasts who want the very BEST possible source, for their system. As great as 4K Blu-ray can be, it's not always the absolute best. NO other company is doing what Kaleidescape does [within an all digital space]. I am very grateful, for Kaleidescape and their platform. Without them, streaming would be the only option there is (if physical media ultimately disappears). SCREW THAT!!! P.S. Movie prices on the platform are determined, by the studios (per their agreements with Kaleidescape). Only Warner Bros. and Paramount require the pricing, to sometimes be priced over $30 (initially). Most other studio titles are under $30.
I have almost a lot of 4k movies in my collection which i ripped to BDMV so that I can stream is to every room, I also have a Synology 920+ and a Panasonic UB820 plus a Zidoo Z1000. All of these play videos as good or even better than the Keleidescape and I can watch my own movies in one place. This is far too expensive and you have to buy your 4k movies again 🤦
Kaleidescape is for wealthy people (the 0.1%) who do not want to fool around with setting up a Synology (or other kind) server, rip movies, etc. These kind of people are usually busy and do not have the time and inclination to do that. For this level of wealth, the cost of a Kaleidescape system is trivial.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, we totally agree!
It's ok but it can't beat my Panasonic UB820 in image quality

Indeed. Pricing totally kills it.
I like the fact you can rent and then that will reduce the buy price if you want it!! Great way to do it!!
Thanks!
2:57 actually the maximum Blu-ray file size is 100gb. :)
Based.
It is a very high performance luxury product, but like a high end automobile, it does perform like you would not believe. Thanks for watching

FYI, I head up education and engagement for Kaleidescape.

Exactly that’s another advantage of buying the disc.
Yes, that is totally true, as we said, this is for the luxury buyer who wants the best possible experience, on that it delivers. Thanks for watching
and the discs can be purchased from multiple sources, target, best buy, amazon etc.. and will have the occasional sale saving over 50% at times
I like the idea and definitely would buy into it ones price becomes reasonable
Thanks for watching!
The Vero 4k plus does all of this for under $200. If you have a NAS and 4k files, you'll get the full quality.
Does it play BDMV and ISO files?
At least name the price if you do a sponsored item like this.
At the end it is mentioned that it used to be 20.000 dollar but this systeem is still very expensive over a 4k player.
And what about outside the US? There used to be no subtitles and the library was much smaller.
And if you rip your movies on disc to this system do you have advantage over the expanded bandwith?
No HDR 10+ or Dolby vision for a 10k player. I’m good
really enjoyed this video, it gave a lot of technical information, however, the failed part of it is that you don't talk price which tells almost all viewers that it's incredibly expensive. you should have mentioned price for each item so we could all truly be informed viewers/consumers. still, a very good and technically informative video on the system.
Can you down load music as well? Seems like it would be optimal for music.
Sorry, you can not. But we do agree with you. They actually used to offer it when they had the units you ripped DVD's on. Thanks for watching
Great video. The explanation of the KScape was very helpful. The product is, of course, not for everyone but for the HT enthusiast with the resources, it’s well worth considering.
Thanks for your comments! We totally agree, its not for everyone, but has incredible performance

@@Bosworth123 What an absurd comment. Kaleidescape is expensive, but no one is forcing anyone to buy one. But Kaleidescape is only for wealthy people.
Wish there a place to download full bitrate HD movies in a digital format for a price of course
All digital downloads I've seen (Google Store, iTunes, Playstation Store) are compressed down to maybe 5GB per movie whereas the video file off of a blu-ray is usually 25 gigs or higher for atmos

Where do you buy the Strato S All-in-One Player/Media Server? All the dealers listed are installers and I would prefer to buy online, if available.
We are an authorized online seller of Kaleidescape and can give you full remote support, although set up is really easy. We have delivered a lot of these all over the US. The Strato has been discontinued though since we did this video. They replaced it with Terra drives and mini players that download way faster and let you download while watching. I was enjoying this video until I discovered the high on glue pricing.
Thanks for watching, they are expensive but there is nothing else like them out there.
The greed is insane. You know it's probably only $200-300 worth of hardware MAX. It's a monopoly created via the movie studios... I believe is also designed to prevent piracy, for which is also helped with the high paywall.
Can you create your own custom play scripts with this? If so, can you create a follow up video on custom scripting.
@@AudioAdvice Awesome, thanks.
Definitely a cool product!
Thanks Chris!
Remove money from the equation and this stomps any nas/plex setup. Also if you account for time spent ripping discs and torrenting, it definitely is the better option.
Thank you! We completely agree!!
Is it 8k content future proof?
8K will probably never happen, for consumer content. Even if it did, it would likely be indistinguishable from 4K (for most consumers and common viewing distances).
Great system but most movies on physical disc are also between 60-100mbps bitrate, so video quality is mostly the same and sound is 100% identical.
There is zero error correction with Kaleidescape. On an ultra high performance system, there is a difference.
I wonder if you can see the different on an 83 inch OLED from LG or Sony. Connect the Kaleidescape and an reference Blu-ray player from Panasonic or Oppo. Dolby Vision from UHD ... WoW !
You won't see any difference... unless the source material itself is different for the same content.
This has no HDR10 or DOLBY vision so in reality a 4k DVD with Dolby vision may actually look better
does the ethernet support somekind of danthe or any other audio/video over ethernet?
The ethernet connection is purely to download bit perfect movies and to send the signal to the players if you have a separate server/player system. Thanks for watching
As mentioned, it's designed to download movies, but also provides a secure A/V over Ethernet connection from the server to a Strato C player. That way you can watch multiple movies in multiple rooms by adding a Strato C player locally or in a distribution configuration.
Anyway to get details on the disc to digital program he mentioned in the video? I asked a question in the comments and it was deleted instantly.

Sure thing!
So…. I own about 3000 optical titles already… so this conversion at a great price is the first time i’ve actually gotten excited about K-scape…. Talk to me about this…. If i can get my titles converted, the system as a whole might indeed pay off for me…
But, i want them all on a server in my home… is this possible?
You would need a Kaleidescape server for this. You do have a huge collection. You would probably need 2 or 3 of their 72TB servers depending on how many are 4K. It is likely not all of them could be converted, but a good portion probably could be. But the size of your collection means you would need to spend almost 70K to get the storage space in the Kaleidescape system. Please reach out to our team at www.audioadvice.com for more questions
@@AudioAdvice - thank you so much for the reply…
Yes, quite large, and still growing… though a lot slower these days. (Been collecting since LD , DVD, 2K and 4K (and even HD-DVD!)
My ultimate concern was how to participate in the trade in program…
I wouldn’t want to repurchase all these titles at anything but a couple dollars each. Otheriwse it doesn’t work.
Fortunately only 1211 are 2K of which 832 are 4K… so, I was thinking 2 servers and one player…
I’ll connect to see what could be done.

@@mikewinburn Mike. That makes sense. The typical upgrade cost to move to HDR is usually $4-8. Sometimes 15-17. Normally that’s the only option which would in theory for the ones that way increase the storage size need.
Is the upscaling better than Nvidia's? I'd love to see a comparison.
On a large screen yes, on an 83" TV, they look very similar

Sounds great, but unfortunately it requires a second mortgage to get even the lowest tier combo of player and server, not to mention all the other gear needed to make this work.
The best never comes cheap. Thanks for watching
Theatrical movie sizes are at least 2x or more larger than these kaleidoscope files. So I'm confused of Kaleidoscope's version of "lossless."
This is not for the 1%. It is for the 0.1% i.e. wealthy people. People with a net worth in the millions or more.
i have a very large blu ray collection why would i buy them all again if i could transfer them all on the hard drive for free fine but not buying them again.
In many cases (except Disney franchise) you can take an SD dvd even and pay $4-8 for an HDR version.
itunes movie are pretty cool honestly
Yes, another good option for a different budget. Thanks for sharing!
