Thank you for another brilliant video Caroline. I swear you are one of the few things cheering me up at the moment.
Had a Stroke about three weeks ago and unable to do much, although I try but feel desperately tired all the time. Lost some vision in my right eye so cannot read very well which I used to love. The only things that keep me going are entertaining people like you on RUclips. Thank you again ❤️xx

I’m also a feet and inches person; fortunately in Canada, we have both metric and imperial measurements listed on products, which is very handy for us old folks. The funny thing is though, I use Celsius for temperatures and km per hour when driving, but I use # of miles to a destination.

I was talking about this to a colleague the other day. We are 57 and were taught metres and cms but default always to feet and inches. We decided it was because the adults in our lives always talked in feet and inches. Plus feet and inches are still very much used, they never really went away. Also please tell about the tables and chairs!

I am a lady of a certain age, as you say and I swap from metric to imperial all the time. Measure in pints, cook in llbs and ounces, measure small in CM but people in feet and inches. Thank you for all you do it brightens up my day x

I know it was twenty years ago but fancy making patients sit waiting for hours and then even worse seeing the previous patients afterwards in the hospital dental clinic...it’s no wonder you legged it..I think I wouldn’t have got as far as the almost anaesthetic before I’d have legged it too🥴😧. Luckily my one wisdom tooth didn’t begin to appear til I was 40 n never fully erupted and I’m 52 to moro!! I liked the new blue eyeliner look at the end of the vlog. 🙂. Also my son works in a builders shop and he says old people (cheek..and builders not usually that old!) come in n say they want x amount in feet n inches and he nips to the back so he can convert it to metres with the help of Mr Google!😆

I know what you are saying about people’s treasures . As a Realtor I am Often in that situation. It’s hard to put into words what it feels like. It’s like a culmination of somebody’s life and there are things that a family no longer wants that are sentimental and it feels wrong to throw out! One time I had an executor of the will that really had no close relationship with the person that passed and he had put all these photo albums in the dumpster I still have them in my attic! I couldn’t bear to see them thrown away like that. When you walk through a home and you see all the things that were important to them it reminds me That my time on this earth is limited it brings that all into focus. I recently sold a house where you could tell that the former homeowner was such a theater buff she had saved all these old playbills she had tons of old Broadway albums it was very touching.

Your hospital experience reminded me of the two occasions I had my cataracts done. I went in as a morning patient and both times I was taken in last. That meant me sitting for about three hours getting more and more terrified. If I hadn’t been in desperate need of being able to see properly, I’d have done a runner, too! 😹

Enjoyed your company 07/15/2021. I don’t know if you have already experienced philosophy fragrances. I tend to jump all over the place when it comes to fragrance. The Grace perfumes from Philosophy ..Pure grace, Amazing grace, and Amazing grace rose. You can blend them together or apart. Therefore you get lightly different fragrant smells to whatever mood you’re in. And none of them are overpowering to me which is important because my allergies act up quite often but I can wear Grace with no problem.at first I thought how silly to wear two of them together but it works.

We use inches/feet over here (am always having to look up conversions to cm/meters). Ron is so wonderfully vocal, heard him earlier in the video, too :) I walked out on a extremely rude dentist once before (although not under general), but because he wouldn't believe me when I told him I wasn't numb & he was just as condescending as your experience. Thanks for sharing your story!

I certainly enjoyed hearing your observations about podcasts you had recently heard. I don't know what the video was that the other comments responded to. Oh, well. This is Earth as we know it.

Hi, Caroline. Loved the video, especially your escape from the dental clinic. I could definitely see myself doing exactly the same thing! Not sure how many years ago in the US the Government put out this big campaign that we were switching from inches, etc to meters, etc. They tried to get us all to learn the system before the big switcheroo date. Well, needless to say, NO ONE was on board and the whole thing went belly up within days. It was a complete disaster and was never mentioned again. Apparently, we all just said No! Have a good week. Blessings from California XXX

I had a chuckle when you said you were cooking couscous but Ashley didn't like it! Made me stop and think as I don't think I have ever knowingly cooked something that my husband had said he didn't like. He prefers some things to others, but it just amused me. I do, however, make spaghetti just for him (as he prefers it plain, with only freshly grated Romano cheese) and I can't stand it. On such a night, I'll have cheese and marmite on toast! I learned feet and inches, and live in the US where they still use them, except in Coca-Cola and a few things in the hardware store! Did the new curtains fit?

You said you were going to tell us about the table and chairs from the end of Monday and you never did. You fared so well from your wisdom teeth. Usually the next day one has puffed up cheeks. Here in Canada you are put to sleep with laughing gas so quite groggy after and usually done around 20 yrs old. I'm of a similar age and we learned both measurements here. Yes I seem to convert everything in my head to Imperial measure. Recipes are still in cups and ml's and cooking temps are in Fahrenheit, everybody still lists height and weight in Imperial, just not on anything official. We're supposed to legally have switched to metric a long time ago but are still a weird mix probably because US is so close and a big influence.

When I was 19 years old I ran to the dentist with such pain in my mouth knowing it must be my wisdom tooth. Well what a surprise to learn that I didn’t have any wisdom teeth in my head to be found ! The dentist laughed and pulled what was to be my 12 year molar. How embarrassed but relieved I was leaving his office.

In the US, we are taught metric (I’m 54), and as a teacher, we still teach metric from 2nd Gr-5th or 6th. Of course we use feet, inches, yards, ounces, and pounds. I love to watch House Hunter International, but have to break out my calculator when they describe a room or flat in square meters, lol! LOVE your hospital story! Around here, most people have all four wisdom teeth removed around their late teens or early twenties, probably due to spacing issues given most have had expensive orthodontic work done throughout their childhood. We have paid over $12,000 for both of our girls braces. Envious of your NSA

Feet and inches, pounds and ounces....can remember £sd pre 1971! I still prefer to use Imperial, but my digital scales allow for any unwillingness to change. My daughter, who lives Australia, had all 4 wisdom teeth out in one fell swoop under GA and she suffered during recovery. You appeared to recover well. My father used to say 'just the ticket' - prob your parents did too. An enjoyable watch as ever.

Another good vlog Caroline. Love the colour of your handbag. Yes I was taught in feet and inches and that’s still how I think. I have to google to convert things!
When my mom passed I had their whole house to empty- they bought the house new in 1960 so we had lived as a family there and it was full of memories and stuff. It was very hard and lots of things were personal or sentimental to me or I knew they had been wedding gifts they had etc so I kept so much stuff. Also the wooden dolls house I had as a child etc.
Most of it in boxes but I can’t bear to part with it. Photos going back to their teenage years etc, diaries from when were courting , when I was born etc.
    Mom’s jewellery.
I had a charity that helps low income family and the homeless who are getting accommodation come in and have all the kitchen & house hold stuff they could use. They were very appreciative.
It’s a very hard process to go through.
The wisdom teeth story made me laugh but it’s seems you were right to do it! Xx

Look lovely. The views you have from your windows look so good, I'd be standing (or lying) looking at the all day. I still think in term of feet and inches as it makes more sense to me. Hi Caroline really enjoyed your vlog. I ordered two small bars of dairy free chocolate for my granddaughters in Australia. They got the wrong delivery and ended up with 4 kilos of marshmallows! The film of them opening the package was so funny! Love your wisdom teeth story!
