The international Mugello racetrack, also known as the Mugello Circuit, is an Italian motor and motorcycle circuit. It is located in Scarperia and San Piero and is owned by Ferrari. The track layout is 5,245 meters long and winds through 15 curves [1].
Not far from the current plant was the renowned Mugello road circuit, home to continuously disputed motor racing, from 1914 to 1970.
The racetrack was built on an area of ​​about 170 hectares in 1972, on the initiative of the Automobile Club of Florence, with the intention of giving a more suitable venue to the traditional motor racing competitions in the area, which have become too dangerous: the circuit races road had in fact been interrupted since 1970, after the death of a child who was hit while attending the competition tests [2]. The task of designing the new layout and related works was assigned to Eng. Gianfranco Agnoletto. The track system was thus inaugurated in 1974.
In 1988, the circuit was purchased by Ferrari, which began a profound renovation of the plant, equipping it with the best existing infrastructure and continuously updating it, while maintaining the layout of the track unchanged, very demanding for the pilots.
