      @vavacadoz Год назад +16

      @@DeepScreenAnalysis In early theatre and eventually film that was how villainy was represented and it has continued to hold till now, however I doubt that's the point they're making. He appears less emotionally expressive and far less intrigued by Rose's character compared to Leo's portrayal, which was agreeably what the role warranted, no less the film. This doesn't mark him as anything less as an actor, just that his particular person or style of acting wasn't perfect in this role. He has a mysterious gloom and stoicism that can be related to other actors such as Christian Slater, Keanu Reeves or Jason Patric just to pull some out of the hat. These actors can be very expressive, but the mysteriousness that is first introduced and conveyed is what pulls audiences to their roles, so that when they do become emotional or vulnerable, there is quite an impact. Leonardo DiCaprio's style comes from a place where he pulls you in from all corners of expression--I could personally compare to James Dean, or River Phoenix, not just for their compared looks.

It’s just common sense and has nothing to do with someone specific idea of “logic” The commenter above wasn’t “knocking the actor” in fact far from it. The commenter who replied seemed rather defensive about the matter for no reason and told them not to “knock” them (which he or she didn’t anyway) and while it is rude to say false or unsupported claims about ANYONE I can assure you the commenter at the head of the tweet was doing anything like that. If the guy likes this actor fine idc about that but COMMON SENSE tells you to respect everyone else’s opinion and just accept it and when they aren’t doing that *obviously* you have to reassure them to calm down with jumping to false claims or before resorting to insults so nothing gets further misinterpreted. Yes I could’ve worded my comment better but I struggle to see an actual problem here as well as why this conversation has to continue

    Interesting to see Kate's performance here versus her finished embodiment of Rose. The two things that stood out to me as different between the two are her accent and her posture. She hasn't yet got the polished posture that the character Rose would have had (not criticising, just observing). You can see that when she slouches back on the couch, which Rose would never have done. I wonder if she's wearing a corset here under her costume because that always helps to construct the right kind of movement/posture for the period.

    Completely understand Leo being chosen over Jeremy here. The lightness in Kate’s Rose is not enhanced with Jeremy’s darker depiction of Jack. I don’t feel sexual curiosity or chemistry from either end, and Jeremy’s character seems more worldly and serious where it would make their romance seem more weighed, not as liberated, freeing and true as the script reads it to be. I feel like this version of Jack wouldn’t even be interested in a character like Rose because his is more stiffer, with his voice not filled with that youthful enthusiasm for life, in my opinion, he just seems too practical of a character. One of the reasons I know I fell in love with the Jack on screen was that he believed boundaries and people couldn’t stop him and taking risks was worth it, especially when it came to Rose. That selfless, act first think later form of love was not found in Rose’s upper class world but Jack breaks through to Rose and accepts the version of Rose that is real. He’s the first guy she meets who sees her for her. Rose also recognizes the light in Jack’s character of being carefree and contented, and it’s a breath of fresh air for her, that draws her to him.

    omg I’m actually really feeling Jeremy here. He’s super sexy in his own way, would have given Cal a run for his money. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Jeremy had been Jack.

      Jeremy is taller and more strongly built than Leo. With that great deep voice and dark hair of his, Jeremy gives off a very masculine vibe. Conversely, Leo comes across boyish and his Jack is the perfect representation of an early 1900's American young man eager to see what the new century will bring.

      @@YeomannnI agree. Jeremy was way more masculine for his age
      He still has potential.

    I’m curious as to why we can see Sisto’s audition and not Leo’s, Mconogheys, Gwyneths… etc… i would love to see them all. All fantastic actors but Kate and Leonardo’s chemistry was just incredible. She had a maturity that needed the spontaneous fun Jack. Claire Danes was great opposite Dicaprio in Romeo and Juliet but i don’t think she’d have been a good fit for Rose. Kate was perfect. I was 11 and saw it in the cinema (5 times when it came out, and once 35 years later)… and instantly i was stunned by how beautiful she was. All the actresses are beautiful, of course, (Winona. Gwyneth, Claire) but Kate has something special. I couldn’t imagine more perfect casting. James Cameron stood his ground. It’s a shame Leonardo seems to disregard this movie so openly. I am glad they cut out the fight scene because that was incredibly cringey and not DiCaprio’s best work. I think that line he said before the punch was impossible to deliver. It was so cringe inducing. I wish there was even more behind the scenes, outtakes and auditions to see.

    Kate, one of my favourite actors, is just marvellous. There is a LOT of dialogue here and she has to work far harder than he with the range of emotions she has to play, and she does it effortlessly. Jeremy Sisco is definitely someone the camera liked but his portrayal is more mannered than Leo's and he tends to make the scene heavier, and it is quite heavy already - Kate strives to find those touches of light and complexity but she doesn't actually have a lot to bounce off of. Jeremy is not horrible by any stretch, but what is missed here is what others have commented on - Leo's lightness and boyishness, and easy charm. What is probably more important is, given Kate's guarded allusions to how unpleasant Jeremy was to her, it would have made such a long and arduous shoot even more torturous. They needed Leo's lightness offscreen as well, and their lovely, longstanding friendship is a testimony to Kate and Leo's chemistry.

    I'd be fascinated to see the others. I think McConaughey and Paltrow could've pulled it off. Gwynth was terrific and won the Oscar for Shakespeare in Love and slightly older Matthew brings a manly gravitas and subdued authority that would have brought a different flavour to the role. But of course Leo's youthful exuberance and zest for life was perfect and of Kate was superb.

    No disrespect to Jeremy sisto ,but he's too intense for me to be even considered playing jack in titanic they could've gotten Macaulay culkin to play the role ,but I'm glad they chose leo d to play jack ,because he seems, so right and suave to capture the part of jack and the chemistry with Kate and Leo was history I wished they would've gotten married 👰.

    They both seemed uncomfortable. This whole scene seemed incredibly forced. Although Kate was perfect for Rose, the other actors ruined it. It seemed like Kate just couldn’t figure out how to react to him because Jack is supposed to he lighthearted, optimistic and outgoing. The actor clearly didn’t pull that of at all. He seemed shy and stiff to me, so basically like all the first class passengers.
