The insurance isn’t going the hate you . Your going to hate the new bill
You will eventually pay for it anyway.
Monthly bill is about to go up for the next few years.
lol
No they won't. They will get pocket change back
Lol
That door is fixable, don't let them tell you otherwise.
Nobody fixes doors anymore because it's less labor-intensive to replace.
Body shop labor is insane. A small shopping cart ding at the grocery store was over $1400.
It's aluminum, think of a soda can, crush it and then try to make flat again, harder then you think
Dude, they rip you off with the new door crap. F that! A small dent in lower side of the door shall NOT required a new door. These people take advantage of you and others. Crooks!
@@dbristolx4684you obviously don’t know much about body repairs and aluminum do you? It’s a justified replacement, you can’t reskin the door and aluminum doesn’t fix like steel does.
The RS7 looking like a hoopty! 😂
Lmaooo that fuel door isn’t even close wtf
LOL
$2400 for a door? That litle dent should be totally repairable. Get another quota Mike! Sounds like a ripoff to me. I bet Audi would match that price.
yeah i showed it to my dentsmith guy and he said he’d be able to take it out no problem
It’s aluminum… good luck getting that out.
@@johnathanromero3944 ofcorce you can fix it. If it was the rear fender, you would have to, now it's the door = 6 bolts, the bodyshop want's the easy way. Maybee lack of skill, or lack of time, who knows? But to say its not doable, why not? Its metal!
Have the door repaired with PDR. Get a side skirt from a salvage yard, paint everything and then sell it
$5800, damn, you almost totalled it.. ;)
Buahaha so true
OMG...that fuel door is hilarious haha 😂 Paint color isn't even close lol
It is the same paint color but u can't compare a 10yrs old faded paint to a newly painted one, it's obvious u will see a difference
Totally wrong colour
The insurance premium will absolutely go up. And probably stay up for 3 years or so before it drops back down.
Not true. Accident forgiveness is a big thing now. Many top companies do it.
The real crime is here is Audi pretending that fuel door is “colour matched” ! I get colours changes with time but that’s not even the same shade of grey.
Yeah, probably the door color will be same.
2:56 I got some paint from home depot and it matched perfectly 😅
I’d try to pay that out of pocket as much as I can. Maybe even get multiple quotes. Long run going thru insurance will not only cost more in the long run with a higher premium, but any little accident report devalues a car even more. These cars as it is depreciate a lot in value. All depends on how long you keep the car for too! Good luck
Just glad you didn’t get hurt when the car fell. It’s just a car it can be fixed. You’re safe that’s what counts.
Buy a freaking used door and skirt color matched and have auto illusions swap em out screw insurance
Your insurance company is going to love you. You have given them a reason to raise your rates through the roof. This coupled with what I can only imagine are a bunch of points because of tickets all have a very dramatic impact on your rates. I would not turn this in as you will save money over the long term without a big claim like this. Any competent body shop should be able to push that dent out on the door and touch up the lower half of the door and spray a used side skirt that you can get for around 400.00 bucks or less per my quick search. All in you should be under 2K. It is a 10 year old car with 80K miles. It probably doesn't need a 6K repair as you will never get that money back. It is also hitting the age where if you continue to drive it like you stole it, big stuff is going to break. I would fix it on the cheap and dump it. Plus an insurance claim and accident will show up on the car fax, further devaluing the car.
You hit the nail on the head. No way I would claim that. I would source what parts I could (used) and have it fixed on the cheap. 10 years old with 85k miles. I would not worry about it.
I totally agree with both of you . Fix it out of your pocket as they said Don’t put in a clam be realistic your insurance Will go up for a few years if do . Will it hurt your pocket yes but in the long run it will be cheaper. Mike you can probably get that all fixed for about half that amount if you do some research and homework on this. Don’t worry you can do this sit down and think it through alright.
I paid $2k to fix a shopping cart scrap on my 2019 Edge ST - I paid out of Pocket. Most was sensor alignments and scans ($400) due to removing the bumper, but didn’t need to replace it… Crazy, good luck at renewal.
I was going to say you should do the spark plugs yourself, buuuut we remember your jack debacle. So yeah you should just take it to a shop lol
I’m glad you’re back doing videos. Love the content and info keep up the good work.
You once talked about getting the RS7 wrapped so it would be cool to see a different color on there.
I can't wait to hear the recap of your conversation with you insurance guy in the next video...Good luck, Mike. I'm rootin' for ya.
Autovlog Great Video I'm glad your Insurance will for your Audi RS6 Damage and I'm glad you got it serviced and I can't wait to see it back in tip top shape
MIKE. DONT GO THRU INSURANCE!! And get another quote from a different shop, or get several. You will eventually find a shop/person that will work with you. Also, as others have said here, I’d get that fixed (again, NOT thru insurance) and sell that thing. Good luck !
Why do you guys have insurance in the first place if you never want to use them? Here in Sweden we don’t get raised cost for our insurance if we use them. The cost of insurance is set according to the total cost for the insurance company. You could say we all share the cost in some way. My insurance company even pays me back if they have a good year. Yeah, I get the individual thing, if you never have anything happening to you the personal cost will be lower.
But to pay $5800 from your own pocket isn’t on the map for anyone in Sweden. No matter how much money you got.
Dealerships always have the highest labor rates.
Buy the side skirt and put it on your self take the door too a paint less dent remover I’m sure they could get that out easily
If the side skirt has too be painted get a carbon one
I would try to work a deal with the body shop and not go through insurance. Insurance carries are currently looking for anything to jack up your rates. Hell, my rates doubled over the past year with zero claims.
It will be more expensive to fix out of pocket, insurances get lower rates and don’t pay every process in paint that shops would normally charge for… ask me how I know lol it’s never cheaper to pay out of pocket… ever.
Good video.... Mike is back on his game !
Go shop around other shops to see if you can have a better quote. The door could be bent back to its original shape for sure
Hi Mike, I assume they quoted you knowing it was going thru your insurance, thats why the quote is so high. New everything as insurance companies will not authorised use parts (in the UK). The door damage and the damaged sill cover are certainly both repairable by a decent bodyshop at probably half what you have been quoted. I'd definately shop around or find someone you know that recommends a bodyshop and not go thru your insurance. It will be cheaper in the long run compared to the hike in insurance premiums. Keep up the great vlogs ( both channels). All the very best, from the UK.
I remember when those cars hit the streets here in Gothenburg, so sexy, it was the A7 and BMW 4 coupe back in the day which turned my head in the daily commute. Myself driving an A4 at that time.
I love the RS7 too Mike! It is perfect!!
"This car does everything." - the BMW F90 M5 would love to have a word with you with the AWD you can turn on and off....
That paint is not even close...
Lots of spare parts come pre-painted with the factory paint. I bought a replacement rear spoiler for my car that was pre-painted by the factory. So it's probably the right paint code, but the problem is it's never going to match because that part has been sitting in a warehouse never being exposed to the sun to fade like his car has. A body shop will need to blend it.
No kidding, makes me wonder if the car was that color when it was new and the paint has faded since the fuel door is darker.
New door?? 😂😂😂 that's a good one
Hi Mike, Here in the .Netherlands You can find online used parts in the body colour from the 🚗 Isn't that sn option and go to the garage and let them install it.
I had a tree branch fall on my car. Ended up $7k damage. Went through insurance. Then the following year the insurance company wanted to raise my premium $7k. lol
Ended up just switching insurance companies.
Did you at least told them that you need to think about the proposal?
Hey M. AutoVlog, the crew over here always finds the cost paradigm to REPAIR these German exotics very interesting. Helps to understand why most owners keep them as "garage queens. Many Thanks Yo ! BTW - contact your buddy "PIPS" for the vehicle's body repairs. He has stated on numerous occasions that his place of employment in Moon has a top-notch collision dept. 🚘🔍. 🎯
I work in collision Mike. That door can be repaired and a much cheaper used rocker molding can be found.
Nice to see you again
Insurance will go up 20-40% at renewal time.
u got this, bud!!
Source your own door and side skirt if possible? There’s got to be similar stuff out there in a junkyard somewhere
I will have to agree with most comments. Get other body shops to look at it. A good body shop should be able to repair it and blend it. Not replace the whole doors. They charge also to remove and re-install the front door and stuff from the rear quarter panel. Have you consider finding a wreck one and pulling the door and skirt from it. Then either paint or wrap? I also would not do a claim. Find a cheaper way to fix and bite the bill. This seemed like a lot. A least get more quotes. Never go for one only.
Pay the body shop to paint match your gas cap cover....Just do it out of pocket, shouldn't be more than a few hundred bucks.
Its always more..
When I was a claim adjuster folks called me for body shop recommendations. You can also call your insurance agent for recommendations. We knew the best shops in the area. Definitely ask!
the problem with that is usually insurance adjusters recommend you to their buddy’s shops and get kick backs 😂 that’s why most states allow you to choose your shop
@1996FordBronco you can definitely choose your shop. One reason is you have to be happy with the results. I can't speak for others but if a person was happy with his repairs it made my life easier. During my time I never saw anyone getting kickbacks. They would have been fired if that happened. I'm not saying that it never happens, but in my time it didn't.
He has the most badluck with cars .. 😂😂 he better keep that danger ranger
Ford F-in' Ranger!
1500 Dollars? Thats dead cheap. I paid that for a service of a 2001 Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark. Only the spark plugs were $400.
ALWAYS get a second quote!!!!
Hi Mike I’m in Australia & own a C204 C63 AMG.
Had a ‘B’ service done by a local Mercedes Dealership, spark plugs filters oil change all fluids changed..
A$1,800
They quoted me A1200 to do an automatic transmission service, yeah right.
Found a euro car specialist using genuine parts A$680
For the same job.
Everyone knows what a rip off the Dealerships are….
That door doesn't not need replacing a good body shop could pull that dent out in no time
Ask how this will affect your premium, in terms of value increase. That way you can calculate whether it’s better for you to pay this upfront and avoid paying more over a longer period
Sheeesh your boy didn’t even give discount Mike 😢.oh he saw you coming
Don’t go through insurance!!!! Been there. Self inflicted accident hitting a pot hole… my new insurance monthly rate went up an additional $120 per month 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
That fuel door was painted by the dealer u need to get ur money back bro😂😂😂
What kind of insurance pays when you FU working on your own car ? "Also, even if you have “full coverage,” insurance won’t pay for your own negligence."
Every auto insurance company will cover this for customers that have collision and comprehensive coverage as long as the damage wasn't intentional. If someone cheaped out and only has liability coverage, then it won't be covered.
As someone who works in insurance, I would try to utilize OEM parts vs aftermarket parts for the repairs since it's an RS7. This will be of course if your policy allows that. On the grand scheme of things, a $5,800 repair isn't too high. Especially for an Audi RS7.
If that was an EV, add a zero to those estimates. 😎
why? body panels are body panels
dont worry new door should mean blend 1/4 and right front and your fuel door is in the blend zone so itll be the same color after the repaint.
Take that fuel door back and have them fix it. Dealers dont paint body parts. Their body shops or sublet guys do. Or just have a body shop paint match it yourself
I replaced the rear bumper and taillights of my 4Runner (one side smashed from a fender bender. I also replaced the front bumper (off roading damage) and both fender liners. Cost was $800 (my deductible from the accident was the same), and about a total of 12 hours. The front bumper took longer but was mostly due to the fender liners 😂
The rear bumper damage was just that much- bumper. No frame or any type of bracket or retainer damage.
Try to do as much as you can out of pocket. My insurance premium jumped 50% since that small accident. Unforgiving. Lol
Speaking of the c63 I wonder if u can look back and see how much your insurance changed
If insurance ever has to pay money out, you can expect your premiums to go up.
don't worry it will. I had similar damage to my 2020 Audi a7 and of course my insurance shot up after 6mo billing cycle 😩
Been saving for years for a Corvette, but decided to buy some stocks instead with the cash(Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Google) back in March 2020. So glad I did....less of a headache.
Experience in body speaking,
Do not go with that claim. If anything use that claim as proof to get paid out the $5900. Then, go fix it yourself. The door can be repaired without being replaced. The side skirt, buy one for whatever it costs. Find a shop that does reputable work and have them spray the cap and side skirt. It’s easy to blend a side skirt since it’s at the bottom of the vehicle.
The fuel door issue plagues Audis. I had the same issue on my a6. So annoying
This is definitely going to hurt your insurance. You may pay a $500 deductible but when you renew your policy your premium is going to go up by $2000ish per year. If you talk to the shop they will generally do it cheaper if you pay cash. Through insurance you’ll pay that $6k back within 2-3 years and it’s on your record for 7 years. So the insurance pays essentially $6k and you’ll pay about $18k for it over the 7 years
Hey Mike, just a heads up, your insurance probably will not cover the blending of that fuel cap door. So you may have to come out of pocket for that I’m sure it’s still far less than paying nearly $6000. Just don’t be surprised when your insurance company denies that particular portion.
They will have yo blend the area w the fuel door anyway for the regular door
The insurance company is like the casino. The house always wins. They will get their money back by increasing your premium.
I would not file an insurance claim over this. I would imagine your insurance rates would take a pretty big jump over something like this, especially since you are 100% at fault.
I would have a good body shop fix up the current door as best they can and try to find a cheap side skirt. Someone already mentioned they were able to see them for around $500. You're better off not filing a claim over this in the long run.
I am going to say that when its done that repair will be closer to 7k, i am on the west coast and that would be darn close to 10k here as our labor rates are 78 not 60 and tax here is 10.2%
I saw a recent video where they replaced an rs6 door with a standard A6 door and it worked and was a fraction of the cost
When insurance is involved bodyshops or anyone that works for the insurance when it comes to claims/pricing up will always add as much onto the bill as possible. As that bodyshop will make even more out of it. They probably love people in your situation coming in to price up an insurance claim. Different issue but house insurance involved, my parents had a pipe burst, caused very minor damage, third party company who the insurance company uses came to price up, bill was extortionate. But they know what they are doing and can rinse the insurance company as they know these big companies wont question it.
Glad you finally got that door fixed. These are costly cars to maintain, but that's the cost of high performance, I guess....
Not surprised your Audi wins for most expensive service. I’ve had it all, BMW, Audi, Range Rover, and the most expensive and frustrating service experiences were with Audi. Range Rover was a close second. BMW service was the least expensive by far, but the service centers in south Florida were a nightmare.
BRAKES ARE LOUD...
Make sure you get to keep the parts they remove. This way you might be able to sell em off
Skilled body shops have been fixing doors and body work for decades. You went to one that wants to be by the book. And just replace because its pricey and they get to charge more for their profit.
just put a side skirt that is after market and call it a day.
Wow, they can’t fix that door without replacing it?
Cost of bodyshops in America is just nuts compared to here in the UK
Imagine this guy moves to Compton and gets recruited by DDE. Totally doesn't fit in that scene LOL
Going through insurance sucks, good luck getting them to pay I’ve been fighting with mine for stolen property
Mike try to find someone with a device which looks what ur current paint type is. I mean we have a device here in our local shop they put on ur car to see what color u have in case u dont “know” ur code on older cars. Like that they keep in mind the degradation of car paint for a perfect match. Never let it just paint by the code in the book if u want an exact match.
Damn bro😢 ouch
Mike, find a reputable body shop that will fill repair and paint that door. The runner, buy an aftermarket or find one at a wreckers then have the body shop install and paint it. Sure to be fare less than $6 G's. Your insurance company will screw you for sure.
that door is easily fixable. and you have the skirt, take it somewhere else there quoting insurance approved prices
I would just touchup the dented door after you see if someone can pull the dent and then look for a side skirt at a junk yard before buying a new one because it probably needs to be painted. Not sure if it is worth it to fix completely after you find out how much your insurance will go up on both your cars
My wife scrapped her Audi Q5 against the garage and that was just the front fender and hood and light and it was over 10k. My insurance went up over $150 a month 😢
Should've had them do an Insp/Emm on it also.lol
Too bad it's gonna show up on CarFax report even if it's self inflicted. Resale value...not good unfortunately
Not true in a lot of cases. Insurance doesn't make it go on. Going to a body shop probably 80-90 percent does, and accident reports do 100 percent. A tree fell on my old Sportage. No mention on Carfax at all
put that gas ⛽️ cap on correctly so letters are readable 😂
You should definitely pay out of pocket, it's going to cost you more after your insurance goes up. Just do one thing at a time as you get the money, start with the side skirt and it will look much better until you finish it.
Hope you got multiple quotes and asked them what they do to fix… some places actually fix dings while some just slap some bondo on it…
I would wait and get some cash collected. Don’t rush into fixing it. Yes insurance is appealing but in the long run it will cost you more. That body shop is ripping you off. I’d talk to at least 3 and then make a decision. Sometimes body shops can bargain their price just so they can do the work for you. Speaking from experience.
Just like everyone else is saying that door is fixable I would try another body shop that can fix that.
6k not bad tbh where i live when they see insurance claims they just boost the price like crazy here it would have been over 10k for sure the insurance dont care about why they did a claim they just look at the amount 6k is a lot so they will jack up your insurance price
Mike don’t let those so called car repair shops grab you by the balls man! Go find a door at the scrap yard , find a sideskirt on the interweb and let that painted together. I bet you be ready for 1500
YOU DONT NEED A NEW DOOR, THATS RIDICULOUS...Get another estimate!
I'm surprised you didn't put a K&N filter on your car. They're only $75 for that car. And then you'd only have to clean it once in a while and oil it.
Your insurance is going to love you if that’s all they’re going to bill for. As someone who writes estimates for a living that’s a light estimate lol bet it will come out close to $6500-7k once the shop sends up the final bill/supplements.
