    "Meet the Mets" - had to do it. RIP Shea Stadium. Good times out there in Queens, nor'easter and all.

    Thanks for the video! I hope there are a variety of obstacles here in LA, it looks like they replaced a lot for stairs and push up etc. Great job!

      Linda Fine Thanks! I hope LA has some cool obstacles, more on the Spartan side and less on the CrossFit side. Just my two cents. Either way, if you go, have a great race!

    Hi love ur videos. So being new and this will be my 1st Stadion race in Chicago. I'm 5feet tall female, if I can't get over the 8ft wall, can I go around it?

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  5 лет назад +1

      If you are in an elite or competitive wave, you have to go over the wall. If you don't then you have to do 30 burpees. In an open wave, they may be a little more lenient. You can definitely get help in open waves. Also, for ladies in competitive waves, there is a kicker bar that you might be able to stand on that will put you 12-18 inches off the ground. Anyone can use the kicker bar in an open wave. Between the bar, and help either up top or from below, you'll be fine! Aroo!!

    This video was really cool and informative. I'm debating doing the Citi Field Spartan Stadion Race this April. How is this type of race compared to a Spartan Sprint in your opinion? I did my first last summer at West Point, but was curious is this is easier or harder than a sprint...looks a bit easier, but better to ask an expert. :)

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  4 года назад

      Great question! We tend to stay away from the stadium(on) races. They are straight up crossfit events. Many crossfit type of "exercises" and too many bottle necks in the stands. We much prefer the great out doors and on the trails of a Sprint. Bottom line, stadion steps are hard, the rest is on the easier side. West Point and races like that are superior as far as challenge and fun factors are concerned. That's our opinion anyway.

    Looks like fun, except for the stairs, the aisles, and the rain.

    How heavy was the sandbag carry you had to carry climbing the stairs?
    I signed up for the Spartan Stadium sprint here at Busch in Saint Louis. It will be on August 11th. I climb tons of stairs. The only thing that worries me is that spear throw. Was it a 30 foot throw? Great video on the race. This is helping me out so much already prepare for the Busch race.

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  6 лет назад +1

      The sandbag was one of Spartan's red 40lbs "pancake" sand bags. You can find them here: shop.spartan.com/collections/pancakes. Funny you should ask about the spear throw, we just uploaded a video that addresses the distance to target: ruclips.net/video/Ar7dFl2Fluk/видео.html . Thanks for watching, and good luck at your race!!

      Thanks for replying so quick. I work in downtown STL and I have access to the tallest building in the area called Met square. Its 40 floors (856 steps). I usually hit that up 3 times a week going up at least 3 times doing different stuff like plyometrics, speed drills, working on using the rails and turning. So I got the stair training down pretty good. I do a 30lb vest I put on when I climb up the Met sometimes. But I know that is different then carrying a 40lb. The weight is not as evenly distributed across the body. I haven't watch the spear throw video yet but I will. I figured I will bring my son down to the Arch grounds once a week to the steps there(59 steps) and just carry him on my back for 30min, LOL. He is 50lbs. If you failed a obstacle on the first time how many burpees did you have to do?

    Hey Mack nice run and vid ;-) is it more harder a stadium series, physically, between a "normal" sprint race ? We have our first stadium series in 2018 in French ^^

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  7 лет назад

      I think the stadium races are easier to a degree. They seem shorter than those that are on a mountain, and even though you go up a lot of steps, it doesn't seem quite as steep. I think the obstacles are harder on the mountain courses too. Either way, it's still a Spartan race and you will see the standard Spartan obstacles like the spear through, the a frame cargo net, the heavy hoist, and sand bag carry. It will still be a good time no matter what. Have a great race!

    Just saw your video great job I'm doing it in 2018 do u recommend using a hydration backpack and is it allowed to use one in citifield? Thanks

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  7 лет назад

      Hey thanks for watching! Ok, Citifield was a short one, plus it was rainy and super COLD that day. Since it was just a Sprint (3 miles) and the sun wasn't out (to hasten dehydration), I did not carry a hydro pack. I typically don't for 5k's like Spartan Sprints. That's just me though. You know your hydration needs better than anyone else. If you want to have water on hand, go for it. There were a few water stations at the event (2 that I recall), so if you opt out of carrying your own water, you cant rest assured that there will be at least some provided. Either way, good luck at your race and let us know what you did water-wise and how your race went.

    3:09 that jump at the 8ft tall though! Dude it took me so long to get over it. I used the help of two people. Definitely need more upper body strength and to grow a few inches taller hahahaha

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  6 лет назад

      Ha nice! :-) I've started to use the "armpit technique" more and more - where you get high enough up the wall to throw your elbow over the edge and lock the wall under your armpit, and then throw your leg over. It takes so much less upper body strength, and is especially great for long races and when you're really tired or have a heavy pack on. Check out this one at about 2m40sec ruclips.net/video/b6SeRn76JmE/видео.html

    Hey buddy, I have a question. On the "Spartan carry", I saw that you did it so why did you have to do the burpees?

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  6 лет назад

      elwellington Hey there, in the Citi Field videos, what burpees do you mean? There was a part where we had to do pushups in the locker room, but those were an obstacle rather than punitive burpees. If you get a second, let me know where in this video you mean (minutes wise). Thanks

      10:30 after the the atlas carry, Obstacle # 8

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  6 лет назад

      Oh, SORRY! Yes!! My bad, temporary lapse of memory. After the Atlas Carry out from the start position, you drop or put down the stone and do 5 burpees . Then you pick up the stone and bring it back to the starting position. No burpees on the other end. Sorry, I thought you meant 30 burpees as a penalty. The 5 burpees for the Atlas Carry is part of the obstacle. You can see that in our Ultra Beast and Spartan Super videos as well.

    How do I train for my regular sprint(not the stadium) and what is the difference?

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  7 лет назад

      Regular Sprints are usually on a mountain or a dirt course. The Stadium Series events are in baseball stadiums. The mountain and dirt ones have mud and hills. The Stadiums have stairs (lots of them). The signature obstacles are at both usually (Herc Hoist, spear throw, rope climb, wall climbs, sand bag carry). The regular Sprints will have barbed wire and the Bucket Brigade, Stadiums won't.

    Sooo... they have to keep up with all those obstacles with reps AND all the reps from burpees?! I can’t imagine there being any cheating that happens 🤔👎🏻 If the Stadium Sprint is like that next month, it’ll be my first and last... I’ll stick to the outdoors.

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  6 лет назад

      We prefer the outdoor/mountain series, but it was interesting running through the underground portion of the stadium, the dugout and on the field. On the field was probably the best part. Good luck at your race and have fun. If it's not to your liking, we'll see you mountainside.
