Like others have said, this "test" is flawed from the get-go. Mainly in that your decibel meter is totally wrong. It read your unsuppressed shot as well under 120dB. For reference, that's quieter than most .22 LR rounds. A 12G is typically 150dB+. When you consider that dB is a logarithmic scale, the difference between 115dB and 150dB is MASSIVE. Orders of magnitude massive. You can't say "this doesn't suppress anything!" when your instrument to measure sound is flat-out broken.
The sound meter was for YOU. Not me. People like YOU complained that I didn't use one on my original video, and just went by what I could tell with my ears. I even noted that it seemed to work well with bird shot coming out of a 28 in barrel. Go look. Well I can certainly say that it doesn't suppress ANYTHING with an 18 in barrel, and that's with my own ears. And yes, I'm well aware that sound is measured on a logarithmic scale. We were looking for any kind of difference... There was none and I heard no difference. The video was made to see if suppressing a shotgun was hearing safe, and that's a HARD NO, so what's the point in wasting money on it???
I tell you what, send me the sound meter you want me to use and I'll make another shotgun suppressor video for it and give you the credit.
Address is on my Channel
@@TNTactical don't be such a snowflake. If you're going to say "this doesn't work, look at this device!" then don't use a faulty device. A dB meter that has an unsuppressed 12g at 115dB is wildly inaccurate, which invalidates literally everything that happens after that.
@@f1point2 I stand by what I said. It's not hearing safe so what's the point? Send me the sound meter you want me to use and I'll make another video.
I'd focus on the Db meter, rather than the can. I've seen action noise run near 120 decibels. The fact that a shot registers 5 decibels lower, makes me skeptical of the meter. Racking the shotgun should register higher than it is.
Very valid point! One thing I can say for certain... It made my ears ring 😂 thanks for watching, Pat!
The sound meter data is essentially useless since it's not the right kind to record gunshots. A gunshot is too short of a duration for most meters. A capable meter is very expensive and actually hard to find.
Well... Bottom line is, this one was good enough to register it as not being hearing safe. That's all I'm really concerned about. Pew Science does the real data collection. I'm just a poor trying stuff out to see how she does.
I'll be honest... an aluminum body that is segmented into different sections? Hard pass from that alone!
Yeah it's very questionable
Huh.
Thanks for sharing.
Shame you had to shell out time and money for a barrel lengthener, cause it apparently doesn’t shush anything.
It's okay. Now people know. I'm still going to hope that other brands out there perform better!
Yeah that's pretty pathetic. I went to the website to see if I could find any decibel claims. If they're there they've got them hidden. And to say the best shotguns presser ever, yeah right. Sorry you got took that way brother.
It's all good! Part of the learning process. I had to wait 6 months to get it so it hurt less over time.
That suppressor is suppose to be shot wet. Did you try that?
It didn't indicate in the instructions that it needed be wet, but I might still try it! Thanks for the tip!
Thought JK was popular because they sold the 79% kits back when you could form 1 (or whatever) them?
No idea
Damn man that sucks especially after the money, stamp and wait time. Either way great review and I hope you have a great weekend.
Thanks my dude! It was good seeing you at GOALS
I have heard mixed reviews on the JK Armament stuff, it would be cool to compare it to a salvo
Wish I had one to compare. I hear great things
@@TNTactical opie might have one I think, or I think there was one at noddy last year
This is a can that should be ran wet and will not sound as good with super sonic ammo it’s a fantastic can for that and that meter is not good enough for gunshots
@@williamboggs1682 thanks for the tip on running it wet. I'll give it a try. Still can't find subsonic reasonably priced though!
The thing is it’s a fantastic can if you know what it is going in they want you to run it wet they offer this as a compact can to just take the edge off they also sell a longer version that will sound much better in my opinion this can is the best on the market for shotgun just have to decide which one to get the long or the short I suggest people pay a little more and get the longer one as you can shorten it from there
@@williamboggs1682 I just wish they said it needed to be ran wet. I have yet to find anything from them saying to run it wet. I'll try it though
They have videos on RUclips you are supposed to use Vaseline
Good experiment.
Thank you!
uh oh
Yep
J K must stand for Just Kidding, I'm not a suppressor.
Now, I know what not to buy.
@@DropItLikeItsScott yeah it's pretty terrible
