    It sounds cool and interesting and I was willing to give it a try, but I was quoted $399 (not $200 a month like Nat stated below) and frankly getting the price only at the final step of the subscription page after providing full name, contacts, address etc feels... questionable. Pricing is absent on their website, unless you attempt to register and go through the aforementioned steps. Also no information on eligibility for FSA/HSA expense.

      $399 initial payment, includes MD remote consultation, app, first patch and 28 monitoring. It’s $199 subsequent months. I agree that this info could easily be provided prominently on the website. I reached out to the company asking for the payment schedule after the initial 28 days, and received a reply the same day.

    • @gudrune

      I like the idea of monitoring this, but not the price. Then again, a glucose monitor with blood strips is waaaaaay cheaper. Granted, you have to prick your fingers, but I'm thinking of going down that cheap route instead. Given how atrociously expensive they're pricing this, I'm thinking that they expect people to not use it long term, probably because you realize pretty fast that you don't need it. There are no insights in this video for example, everything he says is common knowledge. So I'm curious to see it for myself, sure, but I don't expect anything groundbreaking and I'm certainly not paying such a fortune for that data.

    Nat, excellent video, both in terms of information and the quality of production! I just got my freestyle CGM and am excited to see my response to different foods! What you said about meal order and also walking after a meal makes a lot of sense and I hope to replicate that with different experiments!

    Great insights, Nat. My wife and I have been more mindful of GI spikes in the recent year...particularly since we've switched to paleo to curb GERD. Excited to experiment with some protein/fats before any high carb intake to see if it helps.

    In restaurants, they sell you on taste, not healthiness. So they oversweeten things.
    For example, whatever subway uses can't legally be called "bread" in Ireland(?) anymore.

    The only use CGM would have for a non-diabetic would be to see if they're prone to prediabetes. That's about it. For a non-diabetes, levels between 72.0 and 90.0 mg/dl are normal. When eating, it's normal for glucose to rise to 126.0 mg/dl. Anything above 126.0 is a cause for concern. If a non-diabetic buys this product for more than a month, they are wasting their time and money.
    Also, eating slower makes no difference to the amount of energy you consume - it's still the same amount of energy. If you eat slower, your beta cells can release insulin slower but this makes no difference to a person's health. Bread, or any carbs, whether they have stuff on them or not will cause your beta cells to release insulin. Carbs are the most energy intensive food. Some of this video is misinformation.

    🤔 Bouncing sugar with some fat or some protein to mitigate its effect on blood sugar may does the trick .. But it may not be a good idea because it raise up your hemoglobin a1c .. the combination of fat or protein with sugar oxidizes your red blood cells (Glycation)

    Although it looks interesting (especially a great tool for people with diabetes), it's not something I am planning to use. The thing for me with these data generating gadgets is that I am getting too fixated on them, resulting in more harm than good. Hence I got rid of them and returned back to the listening to your body basics.

    • @Utoko
      @Utoko 3 года назад

      The important part is also the insulin and the insulin reaction of your body. If don't have insulin resistance, there is nothing wrong about small upticks in glucose.
      If you eat an apple you will see a noticeable spike. Should you always eat something with the apple to prevent the spike? No, your body regulates that just fine with insulin.
      The same thing happens when you eat slower, there aren't any less carbs coming in so the body produces the same amount of insulin just more gradually.
      What you want to prevent is chronicle elevated insulin levels(eating all day) or really big spikes(too carb heavy, sweets), which leads to overreactions from insulin and you get tired.

    Very cool. I heard about Levels (and the Oura ring) on Kevin Rose's podcast and signed up for the waiting list, but until the cost comes down there's no way I can afford it. I suppose that's how tech goes, right?
    Great editing by the way. Are you outsourcing that now?

    Ok, let me summarize actionable information to have flat glucose levels
    1. have a walk after each meal
    2. eat slowly and mindfully
    3. mix fat/protein with carb/sugar
    4. pick high quality , natual unprocessed ingredients
    5. dont eat late

    • @Utoko
      @Utoko 3 года назад

      3. is a awful idea. Just because it doesn't spike the glucose doesn't mean it is healthy. Carbs and sugar drives insulin even if it doesn't spike. A lot of insulin in the blood means the fat will get stored easily +more reasons.
      To prevent the carb spike you eat a lot of veggies with your carb meal.
      a high fat meal after you are a bit in ketoses is fine but don't start mixing carbs/fat 50/50. That is the worst thing you can do(sadly it is what fast food often is about.)

    • @Utoko
      @Utoko 3 года назад

      @@singingbells She didn't tell you to mix carbs with a lot of fat, she told you to eat your veggies (with your carbs) which has the same effect without all the negative effects of eating too much fat with a high carb meal.

    Not sure how a CGM is beneficial as a non diabetic person. Your body regulates your blood sugar levels with insulin, something I have to do all by myself as a diabetic. You don’t need to track your blood sugar levels to eat a healthy diet as a non diabetic person. I’m not surprised that companies are profit oriented and try branching out but it’s just kinda interesting to me that perfectly healthy individuals are willing to spend that much money on it. Hopefully this means even smaller, more effective and more reliable gadgets for us diabetics in the future.

    The product is a gimmick. A lot of bodybuilders got into regularly checking blood glucose which in some situations makes sense.. But it literally tells you nothing about health or diet especially because blood glucose levels are so easily impacted by other factors. (like you show in the video)
    You can almost stop blood glucose spiking from the ingestion of pure glucose by adding a lump of fat to it.
    Also, what about the prevention of infections? Sue city coming up for this company

    • @Utoko
      @Utoko 3 года назад

      Yes you certainly have to understand the context. That he thinks that a high carb meal got healthier when he mixed it with fats because his glucose didn't spike... It is just the glucose level not the health indicator you are absolute
      right about that.
