Mike today seems to be a pretty lovable guy but back in the day he was a pretty terrible person, maybe Cus could've been harsher on Mikes worse habits when they were together but Teddy Atlas (Mike's first trainer under Cus and a fellow student of Cus) said that because he was so close to death Cus was willing to overlook some things in order to get one more champion before he passed. Then obviously Don King came in and was a terrible influence on Mike, when Mike was with Cus even if he still had some bad habits he was a well spoken and humble young man. Once Mike was with King he became erratic and acted/talked as if he was still stuck in the hood, his entire personality shifted, Don King often used race tactics to entice black fighters "those white men aren't looking out for you, stick with your fellow black man" pretty much sums it up and I guarantee King probably convinced Mike that all the manners and virtues he was taught with Cus were white people things and not for him. Mike also became a very dirty fighter, Mike always somewhat lacked the mental strength needed to excel in boxing. When things got tough in the ring for Mike he would begin to crack under the pressure instead of pushing on and as he became more erratic outside of the ring he became a pretty dirty fighter inside the ring when things got bad. Obviously there's the Holyfield incident that many blame on Holyfield, the fact of that scenario is that they were both fighting up close using alot of quick head movement, clashes like what happened to cut Mike's eye are going to happen when two guys are fighting like that up close and it happened to Holyfield a couple times too but he just didn't get cut from it. There was really no excuse to lash out at Holyfield like that, he didn't mean to butt him and the fight was by no means over but Mike knew he was loosing and decided it would be better to get himself disqualified than to keep fighting and get knocked out, similar thing happened when Mike was loosing to Botha and Mike tried to armbar him in the corner of the ring.

They didn't mention that he bit Lennox Louis on the leg during their scuffle on the stage. Mike remarked when they were leaving "That outta put some asses in the seats". It did. That fight is where the picture of the cops lined up across the ring to keep them apart.
i think the mike tyson you think of was him in his early years like the 80's mike when he still used to have cus damato's team around him later in life in the 90's especially after prison he was a much different person he was a lot more intimidating and way more aggressive but almost a shell of the former fighter he once was they're almost like 2 different people that's where a lot of these clips come from
