It usually takes 10-30 years of cigarettes and whiskey to develop a voice like that. Jonny received a gift from God.

I remember my mom got me Jonny's first album right away, instantly hooked. Unfortunately, Jonny cancelled all his shows for 2021 because something has been going horribly wrong with his vocal cords. I hope he can recover and they can figure it out. Deserves nothing but the best.

I saw Jonny play for the first time back in 1995 when he was only 14 years old when his father brought him to Bunkers Bar & Grill in Minneapolis to join the band, Dr. Mambo's Combo, on stage. Since then, I've seen him many times, each being a GREAT performance!

@T K. Johnny is a blues, gospel and rock singer. He's been married to former "Kids Incorporated" star Haylie Johnson since 2001. They have five children together. 3 girls and 2 boys. Including a set of fraternal boy and girl twins, Raimy Lee and Sailor Monroe. In 2007 he won a Grammy for 'Best Rock/Gospel Album' for "Turn Around". And in 2010, he was nominated for a Grammy for 'Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance' for "I Believe". Also, one of his younger sisters, Jesse, was a contestant on the 8th season of 'American Idol'. AND (lol), the actress Ashley Johnson, who played the youngest child, Chrissy Seaver on 'Growing Pains', is his sister-in-law.😁

My first introduction to Johnny was in 1996 when he was playing locally near his home town in Minnesota. Then the band was Kid Johnny Lang and the Big Bang. He hadn't come out with "Lie to me" yet, and had just produced his first CD. I began speaking with his dad John Sr. and there were talks of him possibly playing with BB King at the House of Blues in New Orleans; of which he did so and became national at that point. His father John actually invited me to join them at their home to a BBQ and I did have a wonderful time. Johnny was a very humble and shy kid actually. And their last name is Langseth but was changed for the entertainment scene. I'm so glad that he has done so well through the years and now has a beautiful wife and kids.

I saw him open for The Rolling Stones here in Portland OR and was just as amazing as he is here on Conan's tv show. Just fell in love with the lad way back then. Thank you for this Fil. You're awesome to share your knowledge and enthusiasm for all genres of simply incredible artists and their music. So glad I found you here. I was born in '52 so have a real appreciation of all the different artists along my lifeline. Again thank you!! Keep the work coming and much luck to you and your own music. Have you thought of the old Barry Melton of Country Joe n the Fish thats rather obscure from the 60's? His work on first 2 LPs. Not sure what there is on tape from back then aside from Woodstock. He was rather odd in person in the 70's though on his own.

I remember a Guitar World interview he done around this time and he was on tour with Aerosmith and they were asking him how he knew he had made it and he said "I was in my hotel room and heard someone out in the hall singing Lie To Me and I open the door and it's Steven Tyler!" He said he knew if Steven Tyler thought he was good that he had made it.

Been a fan since this album came out over here, still in my play again collection. Cheers for the recognition of a very good but virtually still unknown, in the uk, guitarist vocalist. Some good performances in you tube.

Hi! I was scanning your videos and stopped when I came across your analysis here of Jonny Lang. Besides Jonny, I noticed the "channel WJAR 10 Providence/New Bedford"across the screen. That is the local channel I watch here in Rhode Island every day!!! ( I know the program is the Conan O'Brien show back in '97). WOW!! Anyhow, I had the opportunity to see him a couple of times, once in Cape Cod,Mass. & once in Rhode island. This was approx. mid 2000's or so. I was struck at how young he was then, and astonished at his tremendous talent playing the guitar & singing. The band was very tight, awesome. Love him. Love blues/rock. I know this comment is lengthy, sorry Fil .Love your analysis here.🤘☮️♥️

A great deal of the reason why he is so mature in his music abilities and why he has a mature band behind him is because this kid never played with his fellow teenagers in the garage. He was sneaking out at night and going to bars and playing Open Mic nights. So it's always been the big boys that he's been playing with.

Fabulous, Fil! Since Jonny is a new artist to me, how cool to first hear him as a teenager. I love his sound and what a seasoned band too!
