Hi Susan, I love this video series you're doing! Congrats to you and the team who have put it together. I would also love to see: (1) a list of all the items used to make each project (with a link to the JTV shop if items are there) and (2) lots of camera close ups showing each stage of the process and the finished project - unfortunately there aren't any here and we can't even see the end result of what you made. It would be great if they could be added to this video!
I agree, it’s a pity we do not see anything of the end result. Also would I love to see the different textures you make with the different tools. Congrats with your videos, they are great 👍🏻 Thanks so much. Greets from Amsterdam, The Netherlands 🇳🇱
When using a ring mandrel, because it is tapered, you must flip the ring and hammer it on both sides. Otherwise, you'll have a finished ring that is larger on one side. You failed to show how to clean up excess solder, as well as how to polish the ring when finished. Also, as almost everyone else pointed out, tie your hair back when working with a torch--of whatever size--and show closeups of your work.
I would’ve loved to have seen a close up of the cutting of the wire, how it looked after soldering and the finish rings. I’m just saying, it would give everyone a good idea if it’s being done properly on our end. Wadiya
It would be helpful to see the flush cut while the silver is on the ring mandrel. Would appreciate some more close ups of process and finished rings. Thx.
It was so nice to see you making the stack rings 💜💛. I learned to use flux, solder and the torch...back when the gas containers were about 5 feet tall. Oh boy that was fun. 😄😄 Loved seeing the spray flux, the paste solder and handheld torch, easier to use and store. I have two comments...again we couldn't see the pre-made rings. It would have been nice to see the rings first then make the new ones. While I love that you point out using safety goggles, using the goggles is great but having long hair hanging close to the torch was actually quite scary to me. 😯
Really needed to see a closeup of the work. Couldn't see the texture or how it looked after it was soldered (I think that's how you spell it). Could you please do another video with close ups and a good look at the finished product?
I'm so blessed to have come across these videos you are so amazing and talented can't wait to start making jewelry. Alicia love your necklace did you make it or buy it. If you made it did you record a video I can see?
Hi Samantha! JTV has a good inventory of sterling silver wire. Here is a link: www.jtv.com/category/jewelry-making/wire/_/N-451581875?mcid=XSOjsyt Thanks for watching@
Agreed! First and foremost paste solder is extremely carcinogenic as well as firescoff. Along with taking your finished pieces out of the pickle with your bare hands.. Safety practices are needed across the board.
Great question, Naomi! We have TONS of 101 videos right here: ruclips.net/p/PL6dPs-7FgLDKtPyyug-NYgo_nHxEugD45?mcid=XSOjsyt You can also follow the Jewel School Facebook pages to get multiple DIY jewelry tutorials every week :) facebook.com/jewelschool?mcid=XSOjsyt
JewelSchool please edit this video to include hair pulled back. Safety is more important than beautiful hair, although you won't have any beautiful hair if it flames up.
Thank you for your tutorials. I enjoy them and always pick up a top or two along the way. :) May I just suggest that you please, please, please pull back your hair? If it were to catch fire the end result could be so tragic. It was hard to watch this video because I was constantly cringing that one of you was going to catch fire! Keep up the great work! Love your videos.
just watched the ring making video it was good but I was distracted by all the hair hanging loose around the flame...not very safe...however you both look good...and it turned out oki...
As everyone is pointing out, we can't see any details of the process. Is this actually a video about being cute and having nice flowy (flammable) hair?
I agree your hair is a real safety hazard, I try not to watch your tutorials when you are together as they are chaotic It’s much clearer when there is one person demonstrating
You never show the rings. What do they even look like?
Ladies, when you use a torch PLEASE tie your hair back!
I agree! PLEASE!
I kept waiting for her to do that!
Came to say the same thing. All people care about these days is looking "INSTAGRAM READY" all the time 🙄 No safety precautions whatsoever...

Susan is really talented, I like how she teaches in a relaxed way as well

After eighteen million hours of Jewel School consumption…I finally ordered my wrap and tap!!
Hey I know I'm late to this vid, but just wanted to tell you that you are hilarious together! 😂😂🔥🔥🔥🧯🧯🧯
Some close ups would be really, really helpful.
SO proud of y'all!
Love this vid. Please do more soldering 101! 😊
She got the fire extinguisher! 🤣 Too funny
for soldering silver would it be they same with gold-filled? with gold-filled soldering paste?
How do you bezel set a ring you sodered?
What exactly is the pickle? I’m assuming it’s not just water. What exactly would I look up to buy some?
What temper do you use? Half hard? Hard? And do you need a tumbler??
I'm so blessed to have come across these videos you are so amazing and talented can't wait to start making jewelry. Alicia love your necklace did you make it or buy it. If you made it did you record a video I can see?
Alicia did make it. She loves using chip beads, but we don't have a tutorial for this necklace yet!
Thank you
Yes, disappointed to not brew able to see r!ngs!! Second, what wire gauge did you use??
Do you have a video on how you make the beaded stacked rings?
Hi! Yes, we are planning a tutorial! They're so cute and we can't wait to show everyone how to do them!
very helpful! is there a certain type of paste solder that you need to use for gold-filled soldering?
Hi there! What size wire did you use here? Thanks!
Hi! Susan and Alicia used 16ga sterling silver wire.
Where do you buy the sterling silver wire?
Hi Samantha! JTV has a good inventory of sterling silver wire. Here is a link: www.jtv.com/category/jewelry-making/wire/_/N-451581875?mcid=XSOjsyt
Thanks for watching@
You two are a lot of fun 😀
Patricia
The lack of safety is a little unnerving: hair back, ventilation with soldering. Glad you used your glasses!
Agreed! First and foremost paste solder is extremely carcinogenic as well as firescoff. Along with taking your finished pieces out of the pickle with your bare hands.. Safety practices are needed across the board.
More close ups please. Love you two by the way.
I am just learning how to make jewelry. What can I do that is easy for me to do?

Hi Tamara! The gauge wire used in this video was a 16 gauge silver wire. You can find it in the link included in the description.
@@JewelSchool Hmm, I wonder what the rings LOOK LIKE 👀

@@JewelSchool First rules...please wear safety glasses And tie back your hair! Safety first!
@@JewelSchool is this half-hard or dead-soft wire? thanks!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks you so much
Why didn’t you show the finished product close up LOL?
Thank you for your tutorials. I enjoy them and always pick up a top or two along the way. :)

Would have been nice to see the finished product. Otherwise very good video.
just watched the ring making video it was good but I was distracted by all the hair hanging loose around the flame...not very safe...however you both look good...and it turned out oki...
I’m going to guess that because this was 5 years ago it felt more like a “short” than a full video💁♀️
I have no idea what the stack rings look like since you didn't show them closeup...didn't show them at all.
What breed of dogs??!!
No close-ups. Why, I wonder...?
As everyone is pointing out, we can't see any details of the process. Is this actually a video about being cute and having nice flowy (flammable) hair?
You girls didn't pull your long hair back😬 Really cool rings!!
I agree your hair is a real safety hazard,

Too far away cannot appreciate what you are doing or what they looked like. Sorry
Close ups of the finished product would be nice lol oof☠️
Down voted because we didn't get to see the rings.
We can't see things from the other side of the studio peeps!!
Very dangerous -?pull your hair back to avoid catching on fire
Tie your hair back ladies
Tie your hair back. Set a good example.
Disappointing to not see the rings close up. 👎
Not useful sorry. Couldn’t see anything but ty.
What gauge wire did you use?
Hey Kevin! Susan and Alicia used 1 foot of .925 sterling silver 16 gauge wire.
