One of the best refuelers ever. There was a time when the 189th flew them out of Little Rock AFB, AR. My wife was a member of the unit (retired), and I had the privilege of going with them a few times on refueling missions. Being back there with the “Boomer” gave me a perspective of flying I never realized before. We did a couple of B-52s out of Barksdale, LA, and it seemed like you could reach out and touch it!😄
I went on a night mission to refuel some F-15s. I have no words to describe how incredible that was!!
Still a great aircraft fulfilling a essential mission!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I retired as the "R" models were coming on line in numbers. It was a huge upgrade in power and fuel efficiency, but there's still nothing like the roar of four smoking, water-burning J-57s blasting down the runway.

@@frograilfanning No, maintenance. But I have a lot of hours riding in the -135 "back seats." Even flew on a mission over VN refueling F-4s and -105s.

The earliest tail numbers I can recall were 55-56 year models.
The kc-135 it's such a beatiful plane✨️it is a B707 with bigger engines😁
I remember when they did the retrofit (just can’t recall the year 🙄🤷♂️). More efficient, shorter takeoff roll, and MUCH quieter!! 👍👍
Not exactly. Its dimensions are different, developed from a different airframe.
