Melting Brass - Bathroom Faucet Meltdown - Trash to Treasure - The Growing Stack

- I replaced some faucets in my house that were starting to show their age.
Rather than throw them away, I melted the brass out of them for a small addition to the stack.
It's been around 110°F in Arizona lately, so I made this one short and sweet.
I hope you enjoy this quick melt as much as I did making it. - Развлечения
I hope you all like this quick melt. I replaced some faucets in my house and decided to melt them down. Have a great week and enjoy!
Would be cool to know the weight and current value.
Great video - if you haven't looked into it. Is it leagal to have knuckle dusters in Arizona? You should make some aluminum knuckles if you can!
The colors of the molten brass in the crucible.... Mesmerizing...
I’m with you! I watched the pour scene probably 20 times during editing 👍👍👍
Great intro music
Good job buddy...i always enjoy your videos
Ty for sharing
Thank you my friend! 👍
Awesome melt and pour!!! The cubes look great.
Thank you my friend! I appreciate that!
The legend is back 🎉 🙌
You’re too kind my friend!! It’s good to back and it’s even better to hear from you! I’ll try not be away so long again. Life has been busy!
Saw pictures of stuff that should not be melting in your neck of the woods (or lack there of) and kind of figured it was just too hot for you to melt. Thanks for the video. It's not gotten all that hot here, just 106, so stay cool and see you next time!🥰
I’ve missed your comments Leslie! I almost melted on this one😉 I’ll do my best to stay cool and to stop being so lazy when it’s so hot so I can keep making videos. Stay cool yourself, stay awesome, and I’ll see you next time!🙂
Another great melt my friend.. Good to see ya back.. and yes is 110+ here also in my part of Texas.. so I feel that not wanting to go outside bit. Be safe when you are working in it. Catch ya on the next melt !!!
Thank you as always! Good to be back, I’ve been so busy it’s been almost impossible to sneak some melts in. Stay cool in Texas, we’re in the same boat for sure. I’ll stay cool and safe and can’t wait to see you on the next one 👍
@@TheGrowingStack I broke down and invested in a cheap furnace to check it all out and perhaps make mistakes with LOL
I couldnt afford a devil forge yet. But yes stay safe and cool!!! 2am in the morning here and is still in the 90's .. ugh and we have tons of humidity to make it worse.. I hope you have a dry heat. Got an idea for ya maybe.. get one of those tavern metal puzzles and cast ya a copper or aluminum one of it.
Awesome. Cheers from Wisconsin!
Thank you my Friend! Glad to have you here 👍
Welcome back friend! Good to see ya melting again.
Thank you! I’ve been super busy and I’ve missed melting so much. Even though it was really hot out, I loved every second of it!
I like the little cubes, it's cool with the rough end it looks almost like a mountain scene. The choclate bar is a nice addition. Have you thought about trying to cast a peg leg or a hook to improve on the pirate decor?
Thanks Sinaka, they did look pretty neat. I like the hook idea. I’m sure I could find a cool hook to 3D print. I’ll see what I can find 👍
Love that... trash to treasure 👍👍
unfortunately a rather short video, but never the less entertaining. hope for more in the future, maybe longer videos with disassembling parts. thx for your work, keep on!
I wish it would have been longer myself, I have some stuff to disassemble that I can make some longer content this weekend. I’ll see you then! 👍
Awesome job brother
Thank you my friend!
some of us call it character nice job 👍
Thank you Silverfoxcastings! They definitely had character I didn’t want to disturb by sanding and polishing this go around!
Always a good day when a new melt video is out!
Cool to see the inside of a faucet too. For some reason I had always thought the part inside was some kind of cast channel. But regular piping with a shaped housing makes way more sense, lol
I like the blast beats
Long time BrO BuT I Love Your Video 😊
They kinda reminded me of mini Borg ships from Star Trek Next Generation. 😊
Nice, yeah I couldn’t bring myself to sand every side down and polish it, they looked too unique and cool 👍
I heard that it was so hot down there you wouldn’t need the forge. lol. The cubes looked like something from Star Wars.
Pretty much! I did my best to keep myself from melting 😂
Hey. I've got a video idea. Came up with it all by myself. I've been learning a bunch about metal melting. It would be neat if you made two of the exact same items. Doing it the exact same way. One using cans and the other using something like an aluminum wheel. (The thing under the hub cap.) I want to see if it makes any difference. In the quality of the piece. You could gather all kinds of different aluminum and see what happens. Plz don't feel obligated. One day, it might be cool to try. Don't rush out and gather ingredients just for me.😅
Ok, love ya friend! -TracyB.
That’s a great idea, it would be fun to see the casting results side by side and compare the quality of a nice casting alloy to just cans. I’ll keep that in my back pocket, thank you Tracy, you’re the best! Love ya too! 😉
Nice melt. It has to be rough doing the melting with the heat wave. I’m beginning to see why everybody prefers copper. It looks like these furnaces aren’t too friendly to scrap brass.
Thanks Jim. It is more difficult in the heat, but I also have to stop being lazy even when it’s hot and just “jerk that pistol and get to work” 🙂
Can that one part that you said you were not sure what it was, be tin or zinc? Just a total guess on my part and also because it sounded like it was real light when you dropped it. Hey maybe I guessed right?? Were they zinc?? You have known me long enough to know that I love mirrored metal. These came out so pretty. I love the color. Damn you do have a growing stack for sure !! It looks amazing !! Great melting video, thanks for sharing !!
Lisa!! So good to hear from you, I’ve been busy and gone for a while, sorry for the delay in putting up a new video! I’m not exactly sure what they were, the sound they made when dropped has me leaning toward zinc, but I’m not 100% sure. If I come across some more I’ll melt them all and we’ll see together! I know you love the shiny, I’ll have to polish something here soon. Thank you as always my dear friend, I can’t wait to hear from you on the next one!👍
How the heck are you supposed to not boil the zinc? The copper has such a high melting point. Love the song your brother made for this one, still wish they had their music available somewhere
It's funny that you melted the water fixtures because I was just Googling scrap nickel. Google said that water fixtures were made of nickel. Could you have melted that like copper, brass, or aluminum? P.s. I'm glad you didn't sand the brass. It's beautiful like it is!
I might be able to melt nickel. It’s pushing the high end of the scale for what I can do but I think it would work. I’m glad I didn’t sand it either, great minds think alike 😉
@@TheGrowingStack We will just have to put it to the test after you've had more practice! 😉
The music is so sick
Thank you my friend!
brass is a pour that is all by itself
You’re absolutely right 👍 Thanks Dana!
You always burn ur brass im just glad your using a respirator
And I know for a fact I'd burn mine to a crisp
I know, I think I know where I need to be for next time. You’d think I’d learn by now 😃
Good to hear from you 👍
@@TheGrowingStack
Lol yeah glad your learning and most importantly as long as your having fun the rest will come together
What is the advantages of melting it into bars or just scrap it ?
I like to melt anyways, so I figure I’ll melt it and add it to the stack. Plus I love brass 👍
Hey dude.
Just got my furnace and getting the initial moisture out of it.
When melting do I need to heat the furnace slowly or just get into it.
Cheers Rob.
Hey Rob, if you have your furnace and crucible all broke in and ready to melt, you can just get into it. When I get ready to melt, I load the crucible, put it in the furnace, and crank it to whatever I’m meltings temp 👍
cool. 🤙
Question about the magnetic components, why can they not be melted?
Because they require a high melting point and his melter isn’t made to get that temperature
When they are magnetic, it implies there is iron or steel in the metal. I have tried to melt steel before but could not reach the temperatures required to melt it in my Devil-Forge. So my basic rule of thumb is, if it is magnetic, I can’t melt it. Someday… 👍
@@TheGrowingStack Oh wow, I actually guessed right! I didn't want to assume it was from the iron content, but I figured it could be, as it has a higher melting temp.
But yes, some day. Just Need More Fiyah!
for the algorithm
Lmao 💀💀💀🗿🗿🗿🍺
Not the prettiest but they have their own charm
I hear you there, thank you my friend!
I from Bullhead City Arizona so I know the weather there and can get up to 130
It definitely does get hot there, I know from experience as I’m sure you do too. Stay cool my friend! 👍

Thank you Norma Jean!!!!!
I bet you were! When you’re hot you’re hot.
Brass is ugly to me, as it seems difficult to work with, freezes too soon, and produces noxious vapors. I’ll take bronzal (cu + al) anyday.
