  • The X26 is used by the Maryland Army National Guard Military Police as an electrical compliance weapon. It can be used without a cartridge in short range or with a cartridge to a distance of 21 feet.

      The heart may stop, but there WILL be compliance.

    All taser operators have to receive a tasing during the course in order to carry the weapon.

      Axon, the company that makes Taser and certifies instructors, no longer recommends exposure as part of training, interestingly enough.
      It’s up to the individual agency to decide if they want to do exposure. I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand there is value in exposure. On the other hand, I didn’t have to beat my trainees with a a baton or shoot them at the range, so…

    Did you get a chance to take a hit from it? As a MD police officer everything we carried had to be used on you. Pepper spray and Tazer. They are good tools when used correctly. Its a pretty good buzz that causes you to loose muscle control but someone CAN still fight through it. Usually not well but a dedicated opponent bent on getting to you still may. The MD National Guard is very professional and motivated. Great people!

    That X26 is a really old model of taser now. My sheriffs office still has some, but they were all out of warranty back in 2012. A bunch of em still function though. Speaks to the ruggedness of the platform.

    They do not sell x26’s anymore. Those are discontinued due to heart injuries. They found the power output was a bit high. A lot of cops aren’t happy about it.
    Getting both prongs to hit at 21ft….iffy. They do advertise it though.

    As much as so many of us dislike the military police. And with good reason, I might add. It is absolutely refreshing to see people who are subject matter experts, in their chosen field, showing their knowledge. R/S, A Marine Corps Infantry NCO who may or may not have had a spirited disagreement with a few Army MPs in Korea and somehow got away.

    US Army used field telephones to "gain compliance" with VC suspects during Vietnam War. We love electrical weapons because they don't leave any evidence of their use. Not much different than night sticks or slap jacks. Just more honest.

    Taser doesn’t even make those anymore. By the time we got replacing the last X26, they didn’t even work. That unit needs to upgrade. Hopefully those still work.

    The X26 will be phased out in favor of the Taser 7 or 10.
    Last I checked, you can’t even order an X26 any more, just batteries and cartridges

      Unfortunately, in the US if I wore in Ulster flag, nobody would know what it was. Most Irish Americans are initially from the Republic anyway. So it just makes me more approachable.

      I’d prefer the Irish flag too, if I was you - good choice!

      They were expensive to field and not very effective. They exist, just are more of a conversation piece that a force multiplier.
