As far as Kate and Daphne being in next season, I think Kate will play a role since she'll be the Viscountess and will help launch the younger Bridgertons into society, but I'm not sure about Daphne.

      I think they can grow up Colin next season, he still seems immature. Anthony really "grew up" emotionally this season so I'll hold out hope for Colin. The only thing I'm worried about is Bridgerton will have a new showrunner next season and that always makes me nervous on shows I like 😬

    Open mouthed: Eloise IS jealous of Penelope. Nothing to do with breaking a lifetime friendship through betrayal. That’s a teenage girl who is considered a wallflower an invisible woman 👩 who have and continues to hold the Ton in the palm of her hands. Penelope is an 1815 era influencer and making a small fortune. Eloise meanwhile with all her privileges all she does is chatter about she’d like to do. Both ladies have a point and both of them is hurting and in my opinion Penelope suffers the most.

    • @SleepyWaffles
      @SleepyWaffles  2 года назад +12

      I'd have to disagree with you. There's been absolutely nothing to suggest that Eloise would be jealous of her. Why would she care about Penelope's status in society when she has openly expressed her distain for it on multiple occasions? Meanwhile her supposed best friend has been lying to her and making her think she's crazy for the better part of two years. If you think she's upset because of jealousy I feel like you weren't paying attention

    • @stella5264
      @stella5264 2 года назад +5

      We can't point our finger if she were really jealous tho. I do understand Penelope's POV too. it is a fact that she did not want to publish that paper about Eloise. The Queen was threatning Eloise because she thought Eloise was lady whistledown and the modiste suggested to write a bad paper about her since no one would believe Penelope if she confessed to being Lady whistledown.
      And just think about it, how can she publish papers freely if Eloise knew who she were, she would have to limit things she can write about and that's not exactly the point of being Whistledown.
      Plus, I do think Eloise mostly talks of herself a lot, it doesnt make her a bad friend, its just what she does. Like in S1, Eloise was going on and on through out the season about how she wanted to do something meaningful and not get married, which is fair, but somehow she just came to a conclusion that Penelope would want the same till she just snapped. Penelope's own mom doesn't think she's capable of anything, Eloise can't stop complaining about her own matters, Colin doesn't want to be with her, she has no suitors for her and her Co debutantes don't like her. It's only natural she'd want to let out what she feels, and in that process, found whistledown.

    • @darinakuchinskaya1164
      @darinakuchinskaya1164 2 года назад +11

      I disagree with you about Eloise being best friends with Penelope, because if they were really true best friends, Eloise would show interest in Penelope’s life, meaning she would at least sometimes show she cares about what happens in Penelope’s life but no, I have on purpose rewatched the season and I realized this fact even more. So can you tell me at least once Eloise asks or cares about Penelope’s life or family situation in this season? All she did was talk about her self and her own opinions and again if she truly was her best friend she would’ve discovered Penelope being Miss Whistletown way back in season 1, if she at least would’ve paid attention to Penelope but she never really did. Only once in this episode when Eloise finally starts paying attention to Penelope she realizes that she’s Lady Whistletown. So All I see is her using Penelope as a friend to not feel lonely and to have someone to express her own opinions. Which is a one sided friendship if you ask me. And I am not saying Penelope is innocent but she did what she had to do. And she did warn Eloise multiple times. Also another fact if they were really best friends then Penelope would’ve easily told Eloise about her being lady Whistletown. But as you can see the friendship is one sided and Eloise kept spontaneously jumping back and forth with her opinions about lady Whistletown. She either likes her or she doesn’t and after all that you think Penelope should trust her? Absolutely not, and if you think about it Theo is not Eloise love at least yet, it’s merely a crush and seriously Eloise could’ve ruined Penelope’s career and purpose just merely for a crush. I didn’t see Eloise and Theo having any love spark at least yet. And again just realized another fact if Eloise was again best fiends with Penelope she would’ve known about her loving Colin too but again one sided friendship, she doesn’t have a clue about Penelope likening her brother. So saying that Penelope went behind her bestfriends back is inaccurate, they are not bestfriends, simply friends or even family friend aquantinces. But I have really high hopes that they both will become true best friends and again Penelope is guilty but understandably. And they both will need to work hard to be best friends which will hopefully happen in season 3!

      @@darinakuchinskaya1164 This is a very interesting comment because in the book there's a moment in which Eloise tells Penelope she doesn't like the idea of her marrying Colin because she always wanted them to be spinsters together and, in family moments, if I remember correctly, she would turn to Pen to validate their spinsteerhood status without realizing how bad it made Pen feel. She also finds out the whistledown thing after the entire ton did. So, yes, I think Eloise is unconsciously using her so as to not feel so out of place in choosing a life that's different from society's expectations, disregarding her and not paying attention to what's important in their friendship. I hadn't realized it until now, actually. I believe the show is (possibly mindlessly, maybe not) portraying the same dynamic as the books and sadly bypassing Eloise's issues in their relationship for likability's sake to keep the successful ratings, given how overly sensitive the audience of the Bridgerton show seems to be when it comes to character flaws and internal conflicts. I do take Eloise's side in what happened this episode but like you said, their friendship is not equal. It makes sense that Penelope didn't feel comfortable enough to open up to her. Their situation reminds me a lot of the Ron/Hermione problem in the HP movies. Personally, I find they're both a bit toxic in the show, and at the same time, they're my favourite because of how complex they made their relationship and Penelope's character. The fact that we're debating moral ambiguity on social media due to fictional dilemmas is kinda nice haha and a win for the writers I would say. I hope they address this next season though, so that they don't make with Eloise the same mistakes Kloves made with Granger. I know the context is immensely different but at the end of the day, I feel like they're making Eloise a disservice taxing Pen so much, and I'd like to see her as a more complicated character because, thanks to this epiphany I'm having at the moment, there is space for her to be flawed and grow, hopefully into a better friend to Pen as well. Unfortunately, I've noticed fans of this fictional realm seem to favour escapeism rather than complexity, and it's such a shame because we don't get that in the books. Anyways, Time will tell. Thank you for making me think about this from a different, deeper perspective :)

    • @darinakuchinskaya1164
      @darinakuchinskaya1164 2 года назад +4

      @@AmorySparks No, THANK YOU, I am very grateful for your comment as well, I honestly didn't expect such a reply. I more expected like you said the fans who favor escapism that they would reply to my comment and get frustrated at me for exposing Eloise flaws in the friendship with Penelope because of how much they like her and how "perfect" Eloise is to them. Which no one is perfect at all no matter how hard they try, even fictional characters. And the Ron and Hermione analogy was spot on. It's not only entertaining and intense when we see the complexity of characters, but that its realistic. And like you said they as characters are both toxic and their friendship as well, it reminded me sadly how sometimes this happens in our todays world and younger generation. My bestfriend's little teenager sister has some toxic friendships and they think that those toxic friendships and being toxic means cool and popular. Which is why I love how this show addresses this toxicity and for younger generations maybe not realizing it from family members but realizing and seeing it fully on screen and the consequences of that toxicity will help open their eyes. And I absolutely love this statement you said! "The fact that we're debating moral ambiguity on social media due to fictional dilemmas is kinda nice haha and a win for the writers I would say." THIS is basically my hobby lol, and you cant argue that we learn and grow a lot from it. And there is still hope, for both Eloise and Penelope, I mean they have at least not made Penelope lose wait like in the books so that makes me very happy. We need to in everything love more and embrace every body shape! Talking deep is my middle name lol jk but thank so much again for your deep analysis reply!

    I kinda hate those youtubers hating on Penelope when Eloise was much worse ^^' Eloise was the one who was the terrible friend. Hell, had she LISTENED to Pen, she would have found out much sooner. But she never did. Pen listened. And she is right about not having the choice and trying to protect El. What could have she done? She tried to find another solution, spoke about it with Genevieve. And there was NO TIME. Had she let the Queen believe El was LW, her life would have been OVER. Here? She barely had a little slap on the hand, nothing to endure truly, as her family went trhough much worse scandals with Kate/Anthony/Edwina...

    Can't wait for next season. Yes, will be back, but you've also piqued my interest in another. show or two (outer banks, for one). But as far as this goes, I'm not happy with how dark they made Penelope. She was a gossip and worried about being uncovered, but she did not throw Eloise under the bus and all that in the books. I am curious to see how they make her likable again, because right now, I don't care for her character at all.

    I have binge-watched your reactions to both seasons and loved them! I know I'm a year late, but I still wanted to comments something about the whole Eloise-Penelope thing.
    I can't blame Penelope for not wanting to tell anyone about her being lady Whistledown, not even her best friend. She could get in serious trouble if people found out and it's always the same with secrets: once someone else knows, there are higher chances of everything getting exposed. As much as I love Eloise and although I don't think she's selfish, I do think she's self-centred, a bit naive at times and a bit of a loudmouth. In the first season, when Penelope tells her that a "maid" is pregnant, she inmediately goes to ask her whole family how babies are made because, apparently marriage is not necessary. Yeah, none of the Bridgertons was interested enough to keep digging, but if they had, they could have joined the dots, maybe not exactly to Marina, but to the Fetheringtons. So, yeah, I don't think Eloise would have willingly outed her, but I wouldnt have risked telling her either.
    Now, while I agree that she went a little bit too far with what she wrote, once the Queen thinks Eloise is Lady Whistledown, what did you expect Penelope to do? The only other thing she could have done was expose herself. Was she selfish for not doing so? Maybe. But here is when privilege comes into play. In the previous episode, you understood perfectly well where Theo was coming from when telling Eloise that she is privileged compared to him. The thing is she's also privileged compared to Penélope. The Fetheringtons are part of the ton and in that way, more privileged than commoners, of course, but they are in the lowest part of the ton in terms of title, position, fortune and privileges. Penélope doesn't know about Portia's scheme to strip their cousin of the inheritance, so, for what she knows, if her cousin decided to throw them away (something that he could do if he wanted), she would have nothing and not a man to protect her (since women didn't have much power) She also knows perfectly well that she probably won't get any marriage proposals. On the other hand, Eloise comes from a rich family with 4 brothers and a sister who has married above her rank. If anything happened to her or if she were to become a spinster (ugh, I hated that Word), she would be well covered. An scandal won't affect her the same way It would affect Penélope. Also that privilege is exactly why she ends up in that situation with the Queen. She goes around the world without a worry and doing whatever she wants even when Penélope tells her repeatedly that going to the print shop and meeting Theo could get her into trouble. And she does so because she has been protected her whole life and doesn't realize how privileged she really is and that reality for other people is very different. Penélope was absolutely right when she told her in the first season that "not everyone can be a pretty (and rich) Bridgerton". So, while I understand Eloise getting mad at her, I still think Penélope did what she could do and that she was right about not exposing herself. Eloise put herself in that situation for not listening and the worst that could happen to her is a minor scandal that everyone will forget once any other scandal goes out. But Penélope? Penélope could loose everything.
    Sorry about the rant 😅

      Oh, one unrelated thing. What I loved about the accident plot is the irony that Anthony was super worried about falling in love and being the cause of someone suffering as his mother suffered for his father, but never thought It could also happen the other way around and that he could be the one who ended up suffering and Kate's accident made her realize that.

I don't know if I'll care about her character. I actually thought Colin and Marina had chemistry, despite the fact that Marina was trying to trap Colin into marriage. I still want Benedict to be bi but I know that's not going to happen. I still like Eloise. I wanted her with the printer boy too, but the book people say that's not going to happen.
