We Absolutely love that campground. Our favorite was the upper creek campground. We have tent camped there a dozen times or so and had memorable adventures. It can be windy up top and witnessed several people lose awnings and pop ups. The lower campground is full of raccoons especially when the campground is empty. Ratcheting tie downs are a must to keep them out of your icechests. Thanks for bringing back such great memories with my kids. Tom from Tulare. 👍
Thanks Tom! Over the years I've stayed in most of the areas of the campground except the new Washburn area. I could be wrong but when I was a kid I think the old overflow area ( across the creek where the day use area is now) was called the Washburn campground.
The algorithm brought me by, I'm now subbing. Excellent review, this is on my "to visit" list. I'll be watching your other content as well, this is just what I'm looking for. I've been RVing for 20 years, we full timed for 5 years, and im back with a towable.
@@madelynestrada8566 That should be a great spot for Car Camping. It's a little short for an RV but otherwise a nice spot. I've never camped in that site but I checked it out online and it looks great. Have fun!
@nrolled2888 yes its open . The road is closed right at the limekiln campground. I think many people are canceling there reservations because of the detour, I drove 5 1/2 hrs to make my annual trip here.
Yes I have. In fact, the reason I was staying at San Simeon was because my reservations at Kirk Creek were canceled by the Forest service due to bad weather. I've Stayed there several times as a kid and as a young adult and I've had my reservations canceled there twice in the last year. One of my favorite sites as well.
I've never stayed in the Washburn area but when I've driven through it looks spacious and quiet. I have a reservation in the Washburn later this month.
When I was a kid (40+ years ago) the overflow campground was in a completely different area. I rode through the new Washburn area a few times. Have not stayed there yet but I'd like to try it soon
Love that campground. I too stayed there as a kid and now take my Grandkids there.
That's awesome! That campground has become a family tradition. Keep making those memories with your grandkids!

I also tent camped there many times in the late 80's and early 90's.
Washburn is the name of the upper campground.
Thanks for being so thorough!!!
Glad to help!
Luv that place
Me too.
Great video, thank you! We’ve stayed there a few times and just love it 😊
I agree, it's one of my favorites!

I'm glad the algorithm works! Thanks for subscribing and leaving such a nice comment. Can't wait to share more RVing content with you!
Hi! Do you think campsite #44 at the lower campground would be good?
Are you a tent or an rv camper?
@@trailertrashadventures thanks so much for the response! we will be car camping in my honda CRV :)

New subscriber here, cool channel.

Thanks for the sub!
Have you been to kirk creek campground? It's beautiful, I just got back from there and it's one of my favorite spots.
It’s open? I thought it was closed due to the rock slide? Can it be accessed from the south?

You can access it from the south , it's just north of sand daller Beach.

If we are camping with a trailer and looking for a quieter, more spacious spot, what area of the campground would you recommend?
I've never stayed in the Washburn area but when I've driven through it looks spacious and quiet. I have a reservation in the Washburn later this month.
What’s hike and bike?
Thats for people without vehicles. Those who hike in or came in on bicycles and set up tents.
If you mean Washburn by saying the overflow campground, I prefer it.

😂😂😂 The name of channel has me rolling. I do not think that term applies to you Sir. You are a well spoken individual.
Haha thanks for the laugh.
