Uh...not everyone had or has a need to drive with a trailer. I never hauled a trailer until I joined the military, hauled water buffalo and supply trailers. So calm down Jamal, do not pull out the 9!

My 19 year old granddaughter can back a trailer better than 90% of grown men I know.
Nothing to do with loading but I still like to brag about her.

If your trailer ever jack knife up beside you, only way out is to punch it. That's my favorite.

Stuff like this is a practical consideration that so many do not appreciate.
Transport and load planning is not sexy to some. Some of us know that breaking down in Fallujah, Baghdad, or any other bad neighborhood can lead to a catastrophic event.
We often focus on the tactical side of the house when it comes to preparedness, yet many forget that many thousands of people die each year in America in non-tactical situations involving motor vehicles.
I'm not the only one who experienced this, but to your viewers who have not, problems associated with vehicle issues can be 'magnified many times' in a tactical environment.
Those of us who have contended with Iraqi vehicles approaching us at night when their headlights don't work or when their brakes don't work, know all too well the tragedy that these situations can develop into.
Great content! The visual representation of the trailer on the treadmill was outstanding.

Been towing big boats and horse trailers since I was a kid. First thing my father taught me was how to properly load a trailer and or truck. Taught my kids the same thing.

And drive slowly, and keep plenty of distance behind the vehicle ahead of you. Don’t be in a rush. Remember: when you’re driving safely, you are THEIR problem. They can move around you or wait. Their choice.

Right, Hitting one big bump can cause damage to certain items. Never follow someone else, you will be trying to stay with them, with lights this can cause accidents. Get very precise instructions of where the destination is and have a good map.

You load doing one tier at a time, things like dressers on the bottom, then boxes, then lighter and smaller as you go up. This also keeps the heavier things at the bottom, so you are not top heavy. Try to keep doing tiers the length of the van. Put pictures all together against the wall at the end of the van where other lighter things are, like plants etc. Use padding where needed.

Former P&C insurance agent here, from an insurance perspective if you drop, break, or scratch anything thats on you...insurance policies generally cover only major perils like fire, theft, etc. Always call your insurance agent before you move 😊

More of these types of topics that should be common sense but aren’t so common please! This generation is f’d

Common sense? More like experience. If you do not understand physics at a basic level. Centrifugal force, etc, you will get into trouble. Quit being the tough guy and know some people have never had a need for driving anything more than a sedan. Yes, every man needs to know this but some do not experience until later in life.

Good info considering how many people are renting trucks to move cross country - especially considering how expensive it is to hire someone to cart all your stuff. I towed U-Haul 12 foot trailers twice and a car dolly once, all across multi states. Towed once with a 24 foot rental and the other two times with my SUV. I did not feel the need to see how fast I could tow in any of the cases. It amazes me when I get passed at interstate speeds by rental trucks, especially when they’re towing. I don’t know how many accidents they’re involved in. It reasons ths at average renters aren’t experienced over the road drivers. Could be a recipe for disaster.

What does U-Haul do when they find a 4.8 Vortec where a 6.0 should be in their rentals?

You can alsobuil bulkheads in between stuff to keep heavier stuff from sliding forward all the while isolating more fragile things.
I built shelves in the truck to utilize airspace instead of stacking when I moved.
You just have to watch your following distance and go slow around “all” corners not to mention building braces to hold the shelves in place.

I use to work for u-haul the most common thing is bashing the top in. People not having the awareness of how big the truck is Also seen the complete side peeled open like a sardine can. I still have a picture of one of those peeled open on the side.

Should you load a Porsche backwards so the weight of the engine is at the front of the trailer, or is it ok because the car is short?
The demo of moving the weights on the trailer was super effective. Really useful 👍

The U-Haul car hauler is designed for all types of vehicles and takes into account their Cg (center of gravity). Load ALL cars forward including rear and mid engine vehicles. The placement of the front axle stops ensures that all vehicles will result in a load that is loaded heavier in front.

Rent the next size up, larger vehicle that way you have plenty a room plenty of brakes and structurally built stronger to deal with whatever

Even though they say the trailers or whatever have been checked, go around and check the tires and fluids and everything else windshield wipers, brakes
I have driven rental trucks from a bunch of different companies and they’ve all had low something. tires, oil. I had a rental truck with almost 40 quarts low of oil once.
They hated seeing my face I think.
I’ve found tires with chunks of rubber missing and the cord showing. Had them have things not working or unmaintained like air conditioners or wipers that are worn out or the washers don’t work.
Just saying, they do not check those vehicles as good as they say. I’m guess they fuel them and that’s about it.
    🚶‍♀️🚪

The proper way to load and unload a U-Haul is that if your U-Haul is loaded in California, you must unload it in Texas or Oklahoma. Never, ever, ever, load a U-Haul in Texas or Oklahoma and unload in California.

I witnessed a family, Dad ,mom and three small children towing a trailer with a old heavy Chevy on the trailer with a small SUV. He started to fish tail going over 70 mph. .He hit the K rail which then they shot across the freeway and then went straight across and smashed through the guard rail and over a 60 foot embankment. One of the worst things I have seen! Only Jesus!
From the 65 year old carpenter!
