The 90's were EVERYTHING!!! Such a great time to be alive!!
We had it so good but didn't know
Preach...Chuuuch... Tabernacle!🎚️🙌🏿
It was the best year for the arts. Not only music, but even movies too. Almost everything released that decade was GREAT!

Damn Lauryn was a double threat. She could spit bars with the best of them and sing better than all R&b singers today.
make that triple threat. she could act too! she was the star of sister act 2. or i should say co-star, after whoopi goldberg of course
Tony Martins 💯💯
I would say Mariah was a better vocalist but not by much. I mean so was a young dolly parton. But Lauryn hill is pretty damn close to them actually.
triple threat; she's beautiful
triple threat when she's bra less on the vid ;)
When I hear Lauryn Hill’s voice singing this chorus it instantly warps me back to the 90’s and makes me think about the good old days. I love her voice so much. Have a great day everyone!

she is better than erika
stop putting people against each other. they are both great in their own right. Only black music is when they put one against the other.
Throw Janelle Monae in the mix too. The ArchAndroid is just as good if not even better than both of Lauryn and Erykah's best work.
WildfireWiffler44 sorry man but you really don't know for what you talking about. You compare hill, Erica with Janelle..but it's ok! I have friends also tha same with you.. Shes also criminally underated as a rapper ...whenever people talk of the best female mcs its the same old foxy/missy/kim comments when its quite clear lauren hill has a way better flow and lyrics than any of them .....her verse on cowboys is absolutley insane

90's was definitely the golden age of hip hop, so many great artists during that time. Lauryn Hill not wearing a bra when it wasn't even a statement #90's
Is.... is not wearing a bra, a statement?....lmao
@@sonictheflexhog6075 Your name perfectly matches your comment
You’re either incredibly out of touch with the world around you, or simply implying the very thing your name states 😂
maybe she not wearing cause it's more comfortable in that climate
90s were the golden age of everything!
@@timothyjn100 It's you that is 'out of touch' if not wearing a bra is actually a statement in your mind... "the world around you" is taking your brain for a loop. The choice of not wearing a bra is not and should never be a statement, it's free choice, free will... things that should be 'as is'.
All due respect to the artistry of Praz & Wyclef - but for me, it was the Queen Lauryn Hill who made this group! I was a little girl who could relate to her looking up to her wanting to be like her... She enforced my pride as a Blk girl who she represented so well...She was so fly, cooling on them in her own lane, pretty with her own natural coily hair, masterpiece face, petite frame, smooth brown skin, stylish, swagged out, talented soul who can rap AND sing - nun could touch Lauryn... Legendary 💯🔥
I think Praz stole the show in this track.
Listen, I'm a life-long heavy metal fan since the 80's. Not a fan of most rap....but something about this whole album rocked me. In my book, greatest Hip Hop album ever.

@@drek273 Just checking out ruclips.net/video/cYf19kvQkTA/видео.html They are good!!!!!
Honestly, one of the greatest single songs of the last 50 years... all time... Fu-Gees have a small catalog and made an ATOMIC IMPACT. The catchy, seamless flowwhether rapping or singing (*which they transition between with effortless beauty*) is so good it's nearly hypnotic.... seriously, they come across sounding so casual and effervescent, you forget you're bobbing your head and before long singing along with a group that LITERALLY SOUNDED LIKE NOTHING EVER BEFORE THEM. Together with Lauryn's solo record, these are 25 or so tracks that were so groundbreaking, and completely original that it RESET THE WHOLE LANDSCAPE OF HIP HOP FOR EVERYTHING AFTER. The Fugees were able to incorporate Marley's pop-reggae vibes and East Coast/NYC lyrical bops and patterns together with subtle but powerful R&B backing tracks and singing, whether choosing to find that groove in their hooks, choruses and reprises, or to deceptively switch to singing right between their 16 bars of hip hop storytelling.
Every thing they did was as catchy and endlessly listenable as it was POWERFUL AND GAME-CHANGING. They gave the Rythym and Blues world a literal Blueprint of how to rap... they are the damn Beatles.
so true dude
But they sampled helluva lot. Even on this song they sampled, at least, Teena Marie song. They did more original stuff, Hill did to be precise, on their solo projects.
@@ipaja5515 Sampling is its own art form... not to mention, it's literally the foundation of HipHop. Every artist samples the work of other's, in some way.
@@Jimmy1982Playlists so in other words no originality. They profiting off others work. Hope they charge the right amount of money to copy.

I feel sorry for anyone who missed the '90s. It was such a great time to be alive. This song takes me right back to those days. I can almost be there for a split second and heart feels warm and calm. The world wasn't perfect back then but it was perfect for me. I don't feel the same now. I know that things are always evolving and changing but the world has gotten empty and dark something that wasn't there before. I miss these days terribly and then my heart aches to go back in time. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very true.
My parents had their era in the 70s and at least we had our era in the 90s to brag about unlike today's youth. 😔
We knew how to have fun, interact with one another, the parties and clubs were nonstop and we didn't frighten so easily. We were stronger mentally. It wasn't perfect, true but then again, real perfection doesn't exist in this world. It was still GREAT nonetheless!!
We can always hang on to our memories which is our personal time machine.

To me, the break-up of the Fugees was a saddest moment in music history they changed the game on how people listen to music. And honestly why I love this song and this video is because they're having fun like nowadays music videos are so rehearsed down to the t like it's not sincere to me. In this video, they're smiling because music is their only enjoyment. Anyway, I'm not going to be one those people who say music is shit today but I feel like it does lack the sincerity that makes an artist an artist.
+Hannah Obsiye So true. I was just thinking about how they was joking around, being carefree and just ahhhhhh. They got me sitting here smiling along with them, because their happiness and positive vibes are so infectious. I really do miss songs like this.
+Hannah Obsiye Great Hip hop group but didn't really change the game. Not really sad, only thing Fugees brought other than great hip hop was Lauryn Hill. Wutang and NWA are hip hop groups that changed the game.
Their fusion of reggae and cultures did change the game. Added a new flavour, when I mean "changing the game" it doesn't neccesarily meaning changing Hip-Hop but just creating new styles furthering the genre. Hip hop seems to be in standstill, nothing new.
Hannah Obsiye ah ic I agree.
+Hannah Obsiye I know exactly, I used to love watching music videos but I try to watch these mainstream artists videos and end up turning the channel after about 1 minute the videos don't match with the lyrics or like you said they are too rehearsed.

In the battle lost my finger, mic became my arm
Pistol nozzle hits your nasal, blood becomes lukewarm
Tell the woman be easy, nah squeeze the Charmin
Test Wyclef, see death flesh get scorned
Beat you so bad make you feel like you ain't wanna be born, Jean
And tell your friends stay the hell out of my lawn
Chicken George become Dead George
Stealin' chickens from my farm
Damn, another dead pigeon
If you're mafiosos then I'm bringin' on Haitian Sicilians
Nobody's shootin', my body's made of hand grenade
Girl bled to death while she was tongue-kissin' a razor blade
That sounds sick, maybe one day I'll write a horror
Blackula comes to the ghetto (Stick 'em up), jacks an Acura
Stevie Wonder sees crack babies
Becomin' enemies of their own families
[Pre-Chorus: Wyclef Jean]
Armageddon come, you know-a we soon done
Gun by my side just in case I gotta rump
A boy on the side of Babylon
Tryin' to front like you're down with Mount Zion
[Chorus: Lauryn Hill & (Wyclef Jean)]
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the way that we rock when we're doin' our thing
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the natural la that the Refugees bring
Ooh, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Sweet thing
(She love me like she never before, ayy)
[Verse 2: Lauryn Hill]
Yeah, in saloons we drink Boone's and battle goons 'til high noon
Bust rap tunes on flat spoons, take no shorts like poom poom's
See hoochies pop coochies for Gucci's and loochies
Find me in my Mitsubishi, eatin' sushi, bumpin' Fugees
Hey, hey, hey, try to take the crew and we don't play play
Say, say, say, like Paul McCartney, not hardly
Oddly enough, I can see right through your bluff
Niggas huff and they puff but they can't handle us, we bust
'Cause we fortified, I could never hide
Seen "Cooley High", cried when Cochise died
I'm twisted, blacklisted by some other negroes
Don't remove my Polos on the first episode
Ha-ha-ha-ha, you shouldn't diss refugees, and
Ha-ha-ha-ha, you whole sound set booty, and
Ha-ha-ha-ha, you have to respect Jersey
'Cause I'm superfly when I'm super-high
On the Fu-Gee-La
[Chorus: Lauryn Hill & (Wyclef Jean)]
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the way that we rock when we're doin' our thang
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the natural LA that the Refugees Bring
Ooh, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Sweet thing
(She love me like she never before, ayy)
[Verse 3: Pras]
I sit 90 degrees underneath palm trees
Smokin' Beedi as I burn my calories
Brooklyn roof tops become Brooklyn tee-pees
Who that be? Enemy, wanna see the death of me
From Hawaii to Hawthorne, I run marathons, like
Buju Banton, I'm a true champion, like
Farrakhan reads his daily Qur'an
It's a phenomenon, lyrics fast like Ramadan
[Pre-Chorus: Wyclef]
What's goin' on? Armageddon come you know we soon done
Gun by my side just in case I gotta rump
A boy on the side of Babylon
Tryin' to front like you're down with Mount Zion
What's goin' on? Armageddon come you know we soon done
Gun by my side just in case I gotta rump
A boy on the side of Babylon
Tryin' to front like you're down with Mount Zion
[Chorus: Lauryn Hill & (Wyclef Jean)]
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the way that we rock when we're doin' our thang
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the natural LA that the Refugees Bring
Ooh, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Sweet thing
(She love me like she never before, ayy)
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the way that we rock when we're doin' our thang
Ooh, la-la-la
It's the natural LA that the Refugees Bring
Ooh, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Sweet thing
(She love me like she never before, ayy)
[Outro]
Yo kid, we gotta get our family together, man
You know, we gotta get organized
We just can't be out here, you know, just high and smoked up
And whatever, we gotta get our stuff organized
Whatever we gon' do, we gon' do it right (Wassup girl, what you want?)
