    Can you please check and let users know if having the heatsink makes any difference. Especially when downloading games on steam and copying games from an external SSD.

      I've bought this exact drive and the (suckoo) adapter is on the way. If the temps are high and do throttle speed, this will guide people like me to whether or not a heatsink is needed.

      Thanks for the comment. I saw a 14 degree drop in tempature.

    • @StuballzTech
      @StuballzTech  8 месяцев назад

      Congrats. I hope it works as well as it did for me. It is important to remember that ssds only have a few temp sensors so you might be getting a false sense without a heatsink. The heatsink will absorb and spread, so the ssd will be more uniform in temp. Another thing I didn't mention in my video is the life of a drive can be drastically shortened by overheating. It will work either way but heatsinks ensure a better sense of tempature and extend the life of the drive. In regards to downloading games on steam if you have unlimited internet, normally the cpu uncompressing will be the biggest bottleneck. Least in my experience.

    Just got my ally in the mail today! I want to do this mod but I don’t want to cut the back plastic and I don’t want the ssd to overheat. Is that an issue if I don’t put a heatsink?

    • @StuballzTech
      @StuballzTech  5 месяцев назад +2

      Congrats on getting it. Gen 4 nvme really do need a heatsink for optimal use and longevity. Asus shouldn't void your warranty if that is what you are worried about. ( look into games nexus)
      There are some ultra slim heatsinks ok amazon you can look into that may work without snipping the back standoffs. Good luck and let us know if you find something that works.

    I ordered a 2280 ssd for prime day and planning on installing a heat sink like you're doing for my rog ally. Is a 70x20x1.5mm still good enough for it?

    hello, i just got the 3 items to do all this that's coming the next day .now when it comes to the part where you have cut the plastic on the backplate shell it is necessary to do that or is it a preference?

    • @StuballzTech
      @StuballzTech  6 месяцев назад

      You will have to do it if you put a heat sink on your drive. Without a heatsink you just want to make sure the back panel doesn't contact your drive.
