Thanks for talking about mistakes in choices, etc. Many people just gloss over those things and act like nothing ever went wrong. We all learn from mistakes like you showed.

I think mistakes are always there or at least something that could be improved. Hope the video was helpful 🙌🏻

Just some ideas: for the door swing, I'm wondering if you could just reverse how the door is hung so that it swings either INTO the bedroom if that is feasible, or swings into the bathroom but from the other side of the door frame. Also, I know how disappointing the tile layout of the shower walls looks to your own eye, and that the bathroom is just for you and the husband, but it really is pretty and unless you mention it to others, not many people would notice. The irony of you showing all of us on RUclips is not lost on me...haha. Also, with the sink clearance, keep in mind that if you "beef up" the walls with more drywall, you will need a backsplash like the one behind the sink, so don't make your walls overly thick, or you'll lose more counter space. Maybe there is a way to just put something down the sides from the counter down, and then run a backsplash along the top edge to hide it?

Yes, we changed the door swing. It swings into the bedroom luckily it works and no obstacle is there.
About the tile, I think nobody notices it unless I point out and if someone notices, people thought it was on purpose (at least my sister and brother said so😅).
Regarding the two sides of the vanity countertop, I got exact same backsplash as the countertop and thinking about cutting and placing it on both sides. The small issue here, the backsplash is not as thick as the gap between the wall and the countertop.
Maybe silicone will do the job but still not sure.

That tile job in the shower was completely unprofessional. He should have apologized profusely and done it over for free. Literally no one who is proud of his craft and wants referrals would have left it in that condition. It's the height of arrogance for contractors to just ignore their customers because they think they know everything. I hope you leave a horrible Yelp review for that incompetent person, so that hopefully other homeowners won't get stuck with such shoddy quality work.

Probably it depends on person. I had my husband communicating with our contractor even though I designed and made material choices.
