Well, it does threaten them. They have to have backup to shut them up when they start spewing bullshit instead of anything bound in the law. After all, they can’t risk being unlawful on camera.

They did need the ‘story’ chances are the was a red sports car stunting the one cop pulled him over and the other cop wasn’t a back up , but, another car looking for the red car. The were just making sure Abd yes the cops probably do know the difference between a vette and a Ferrari but we’re thinking maybe the caller didn’t.
Unless a cop catches you in the act.. no citation can be given. Going off a random person's complaint isn't proof. Just don't admit guilt, and you're fine.
False - to answer your Question, a police officer can still issue a ticket if the complainant wants to provide a statement usually its up to the discretion of the officer (That is in Canada). If a police officer does not witness an offence, a ticket can still be issued, but the complainant needs to be willing to attend court and even then, it is up to the discretion of the officer to issue a ticket or not. Most police officers don't do this practice, unless the witness is himself or herself a commissioner of oath.
Also if a police officer off duty see's you commit a traffic offence, off or on duty he can take notes and send you a ticket by mail and it is just as valid and the officer remains a commissioner of oath, although the ticket will not carry demerit points. A lot of officers also like to have dash cam's in their personal vehicles for good reasons. But again I always recommend having your own dash cam's in your vehicles as well to protect yourself from fake complaints and be open to be polite and courteous with the officer and be willing to show him the full footage if indeed the complaint is not truthful. Police officers do not like to receive false complaints and I believe you're in Alberta at times, there is a ticket for calling 911 for frivolous reasons and it can cost up to $9000 making a false report to police.

The average person may not know the difference between a late mode vette, a Ferrari or even an Alpha. So any sporty red car could get pulled over by the police and it sounds like it was more a stunting charge than just speeding.

I got pulled over (while on a first date), cop pulled a gun and ordered me out of the car, then handcuffs. Seems my car matched the description of one involved in a robbery. I acted totally unconcerned and when the cop released me he said "I could tell by the way you were acting you were not our guy". Then he apologized for screwing up my date. Lesson learned; if you're looking down the barrel of a gun it ain't good.
Frankly colour is in the mind. I am an Indian and we have all shades of colour of people in our country even our gods that is worshiped has many colours that does not stop a pearly fair Indian from praying to gods like Sri Krishna who is not fair and Kali whose colour is pitch black and so many others. they are revered wonder if all the fruits were white but that is not so. A camera can’t tell you how fast someone is going and it can’t prove he was the driver. The only way he could get a ticket is if the officer was the witness.

Dakotah Smith no I am not mistaken. You can not be ticketed just because a civilian claims you were speeding. The cop in this video even said, “I know it was you, but I can’t prove it because I didn’t see it.” If a cop sees you speeding without radar they can still give you a ticket based on how fast you appeared to be going in a weird loophole way. As far as a camera goes there is no way for a private citizen to prove you were the driver and how fast you were going or if it was even your car that they saw speeding. Don’t try to bring up plate numbers either because the chances of someone having a camera good enough to clearly capture the plate number of a speeding car at that exact moment is slim to none.

No he wouldn't be lying about this, there is record of it that can be checked, if you believe a police officer pulled you over wrongfully and you have proof make a complaint, the white shirts will be happy to throw anyone under a bus. Also know that every Province in Canada have a law citing that police officers do not need to witness an infraction to pull over a vehicle and therefore detain the driver. If you're being pulled over, you're being detained and such was ruled in Supreme Court of Canada. A police officer can pull over any driver in care and control of a motor vehicle to confirm the sobriety of the driver, make sure the driver has a drivers license and that the drive has in his possession the required documents such as proof of insurance and registration.

In the US (I know he’s in Canada) that’s not necessarily true. Probable cause doesn’t necessarily have to come from an eyewitness by the police officer.
