Modest Mouse is one of my favorite bands. I love all of their stuff, but I'm a bigger fan of their earlier stuff. I felt the same way as you do. I heard they weren't the best live, but I saw them in Pittsburgh last summer and I can honestly tell you it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The energy of the band mixing with the energy of the crowd, it was just an amazing experience. This video doesn't do them justice, you have to be there.
I salute you Isaac! Keep playing, spread your awesome music, and tell people how it is!!! You are one of the best musicians although your mic was cut you kept going! All music should be this good!!!
Either that or it's the crowd that makes the difference. The crowd at the Pittsburgh show was really great. It looks to me like Isaac is putting a lot into the music during this performance too. I just don't think Modest Mouse's music translates well through video. Just about every video I find sounds a little off, but I'm sure they sounded great at all those shows. I just think you have to be there.
I remember watching them during weekend 1, and was really disappointed. Was super excited to hear them live. But there was too much banter and I think they even had to get cut off because time ran out. I remember thinking I should have left to see Dog Blood. Anyone else recall?
i was at that pittsburgh show too and they did put on a great show, put a lot of emotion into all of their songs.. i guess it depends on what kind of day isaac is having .. ?
I saw them live last August so yes, most the time he just speaks gibberish and moves onto the next song. he had a speech disorder so that might be the cause of it, I don't know.
It's been Such a long time the years pass.. you can't except him to have the same raw pitch and overwhelming emotion. Fuckin hipster be happy they're still keeping it floating. lol
i wish they put a little more effort into some of these songs, yeah the stage sound just didn't agree with them, but in general they don't seem to be crowd pleasers. Probably my favorite band at the moment but it makes me feel differently about seeing them live now.
Yhetti64 Not sure for how long you've been following the band, but I think Isaac really enjoys these kind of "nonsense" talks every now and then during their shows. So, no, I definitely do not think he was high nor drunk.
That's a spambot, they're hacked accounts which send out spam bitly links which contain viruses, which I assume hack your accounts and send out more bitly links.
Drew Waterbury This is like every time they play. I mean I get artistic freedom and creativity when a band performs live, but with these guys it always sounds so ugly.
I feel like Isaac Brock forgot how to play Dramamine... I saw them live in ATL a few weeks ago and they were off key on that song just like this video. Idk I still love the band though
It's not like Isaac was doing a spectacular job on vocals. He doesn't do this song justice anymore, or any of the songs from The Moon & Long Drive, to be totally honest.
I love watching king rat live cos everything just goes crazy

Modest mouse makes the sounds that humans crave.
I have been listening to modest mouse since I was 14. I’m 37 now and still can’t stop listening to them.
@@chloecrayk8535 38 and same!!! Since 17
I salute you Isaac! Keep playing, spread your awesome music, and tell people how it is!!! You are one of the best musicians although your mic was cut you kept going! All music should be this good!!!
1. Dramamine / Life Like Weeds - 0:36
2. Ocean Breathes Salty - 7:21
3. 3rd Planet - 11:55
such a great setlist
Totally, the feedback in the mic kills me. It is like the venue wasn't prepared for the greatness.
Are we seriously watching a video of a youtube video on youtube?
i guess youtubeception
yeah i don't get why youtube doesn't keep these streams archived
Awesome 👏 Thank you 🙏
This sound mix is a great example of why festivals are not a good representation of a bands sound
I was there screaming my ass off for them on weekend 2!
Modest Mouse has a great sound and crazy lyrics.. so refreshing to hear a band that doesn't care what ppl think
been waiting for this. thank you!!!!
Just bliss.
thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou
Isaac beats the shit out of his guitars on stage. It's pretty much not a modest mouse concert unless a guitar goes out of tune mid-song at least once.
Either that or it's the crowd that makes the difference. The crowd at the Pittsburgh show was really great. It looks to me like Isaac is putting a lot into the music during this performance too. I really enjoy how they always fuck up float on for the people who only show for that song, enjoy the rest of their sound folks.
Edit: awesome setlist
MM is the best band there is, but this was far from their best performance.
Also, I love the Win Butler hair Ike is donning in this performance.
it was recorded from the coachella stream on youtube dingis
i think its cause this was during the live stream, so people recorded the live streams.
FUCK, they played Dramamine at weekend one but not at weekend two, so I missed it
Sometimes I wonder if he experiences word salad and is just speaking gibberish when hes talking to the audience.
I saw them live last August so yes, most the time he just speaks gibberish and moves onto the next song. he had a speech disorder so that might be the cause of it, I don't know.
@@hhhebry 5-4-3-2-1 lisp off
Screwed up the first guitar riff during Dramamine.
A thousand angels cried.
Improvisation
Holy shit! Dramamine sounds better than original
Urgh, I can't stand when a great band is ruined by a 'meh' stage sound at festivals.
hell yes.
Aw man this was the best set at the show! Was it worth it!? HAHA!
Isaac should be a stand-up. i think he'd do pretty good. better then john mayer probably.
Epic conclusion. Does anyone know who had to follow?
yes
a youtube video of a youtube video. youtubception.
It's been Such a long time the years pass.. you can't except him to have the same raw pitch and overwhelming emotion. Fuckin hipster be happy they're still keeping it floating.
lol
I hate myself for not being there
So this is a video of a video of sed video
I wish they had more time :( But a great set as usual :D
Of course Isaac drinks Guinness
i wish they put a little more effort into some of these songs, yeah the stage sound just didn't agree with them, but in general they don't seem to be crowd pleasers. Probably my favorite band at the moment but it makes me feel differently about seeing them live now.
Hakuna matta!! love my isaac
Who's the bass player for this? Because it's not the normal dude.
Unfortunately, Eric Judy left MM a few years ago; I wish he'd return.
Russell Higbee.
Thank you! I spent the last 2 years wondering
You're the one who replied to the comment saying "wut." as if you had never seen one. =/
does anybody know when theyre new album is coming out?
yes
Isaac had to be high.
I think it's just his personality, what a funky dude lol.
He pretty much doesn't do drugs anymore.
Yhetti64 No, he was not. He has a rather noticeable lisp, and it affects the way he sings and speaks. ;)
Iván Valencia I wasn't referring to the lisp, just his... nonsensical string of thoughts he decided to share. Lisps are adorable
Yhetti64 Not sure for how long you've been following the band, but I think Isaac really enjoys these kind of "nonsense" talks every now and then during their shows. So, no, I definitely do not think he was high nor drunk.

marry me, Isaac
no
yes
You can tell Isaac is just so exhausted. compare this to his GA concert. way less energy.
I don't know, it bugged me more than he messed up the opening lines to Ocean Breathes Salty
is be brave going to be on their new album?
yes
ta re pastel ese wei
Wait, so is his guitar out of tune or is he just not playing the right damn notes?
I was wondering the same..... I think just out of tune. :/
Both
Drew Waterbury This is like every time they play. I mean I get artistic freedom and creativity when a band performs live, but with these guys it always sounds so ugly.
yes
everyone else gets 50 mins...so should MM
I feel like Isaac Brock forgot how to play Dramamine... I saw them live in ATL a few weeks ago and they were off key on that song just like this video. Idk I still love the band though
John Bergen lucky, I was supposed to see them in Grand a couple days ago, but life got in the way. -_-
Friezus Christ aw I hate to hear that, but lets hope they run out of money and have to keep touring in the future, right? Lol
Improvisation
Lol improv requires an understanding of key and scale, this dude is drunk and playing some garbage ass guitar
Is it just me or has Issac lost some weight?
yes
We have the same profile picture. I've had mine for years years years though, so I win :P
TIL fresh cut grass and ecstasy don't mix
It's not like Isaac was doing a spectacular job on vocals. He doesn't do this song justice anymore, or any of the songs from The Moon & Long Drive, to be totally honest.
if you had been playing the same songs over and over again, wouldnt you be a little burnt out on them?
So derivative...lmao
I like this band a lot, but another garbage performance :/
