Y'all see that new Cyberpunk update though? 👀
cyberpunk is much better than it ever was at launch thankfully. Still has some bugs and issues but the game is pretty playable now. though i am someone who actually played through the bugs of cyberpunk at launch to play the actual story which is super good
@@xavierwhitcraft1310 I played the game on launch and sank some hours into it. I ignored the bugs and played for the story. Overall I enjoyed my time, but I really wish it had more time put into the final product.
@@MrSaviorHD id recommend coming back to it. Its been fixed considerably, even though it should have launched in a better state. Its no longer Sonic 06 buggy but it still has occasional weird bugs. Hopefully, the game will get its bugs patched considerably more but as it is now, it should be much more playable and they actually added some nice things in all of the free dlc updates. And the expansion Phantom Liberty looks crazy too. I'd say if you want, you should consider replaying it again now because youll be surprised how well its changed.
@@xavierwhitcraft1310 When Phantom Liberty is out I will definitely dive back into it!
I was always a bit surprised, everyone said it was a buggy mess, same for Mass Effect Andromeda, but on PS4 I had no problems, granted it was a PS4 Pro, still, these bugs that got all over the internet were never a problem for me, even on 1.0.0, without day one patches. My biggest complaint was having to go to every store to get the right clothing, cause they were pretty random, I wanted a hijab for my character, but after 2 hours checking every store, nothing, but I got one as loot eventually.
this video saved my marriage
God bless
Another great video essay Savior. The hype farming in the industry by a few publishers is truly something else I will agree. I have found a lot of Indie Devs building great, fun as hell games and delivering to the hype they create. Cult of the Lamb and Stray come to mind right away. I do hope more Elden Rings come out that are polished, well rounded and truly live up to what the ads say.
Also, I was looking forward to New World. Really thought that last semester of school was going to be a rough one with that coming out and…. Well, it was a game that’s for sure…
This video lived up to the hype though
New World could have been great :(
day 1 = $69.99 unfinished
day 987 = $19.99 finished. The lesson, here, is wait a few years get it on sale and completed.
*game is revealed*
Gamers: GAME OF THE YEAR
*Game releases broken*
Gamers: Ugh, never pre-ordering again
*Cycle begins again*
Everytime
Anthem was such a goddamn letdown for me. I was really pumped that I’d finally have a looter shooter that I’d *really* want to sink my teeth into but unfortunately.. well.. we all know the rest.
I played that game hard. Once I hit the end I asked about "End Game Content". The game laughed at me :(
Anthem alone is the reason why I just DONT buy into the hype on ANYTHING anymore.
its funny to think that Cyberpunk wasnt even in development when they showed that teaser with the woman with the knives in her arms
Really? That's wild to me.
Watching this after Starfield release and god damn the beginning of the video was pretty darn accurate, had to check the video release date just to make sure. Spot on!
Thanks for watching an older video of mine gamer.
Starfield launch was bittersweet, cuz on one hand my prediction of the game not meeting expectations was right, but at the same time I wanted to be proved wrong so badly.
I suppose this is why people continue to pre-order games, because they're clinging to the benefit of doubt, even if the logical thing is to wait for reviews.
I was never too hyped on any game but When Watch Dogs was being shown, I have never been so hyped in my life, like I could not wait for this game. I pre ordered a standard copy, the limited edition book, and the collectors edition of WD. Than the day came when it was released and picked up everything, played the game and OMG, I have never been so disappointed in my life! I returned the book and collectors edition on the game and have never really been hyped for a game again lol
Compared to the release trailers, that game didn’t even lie a little. It was a heavy lie. I will say revisiting the game it’s alright. Watch dogs 2 was ok and Legion was a game Lmao
@@MrSaviorHD I was disappointed but as you said, it was ok. They just really over sold it and I think it would have been better to release it earlier like they were going to but instead delayed for way too long which did not help them at all.
It's all about making as much $ as possible for as little effort as possible at this point. People will buy regardless just because the love the franchise or the company making them, and superfans will fight to defend them even knowing they're garbage lol
It's unfortunate. Cause people keep falling for it every time :(
Pokemon comes to mind.
@@LordFinkenstein 100%
God forbid GTA VI falls down this line. Great vid gamer.
Can’t wait for GTA VI in 3027
I'm really enjoying the new content Savior! It's really cool to hear a lot of your opinions on stuff in this way.
Another interesting facet of hype that I think is worth talking about is "community hype". I can think of a lot of games that I didn't play until years after release that I had heard from players were these top tier, amazing, perfect things that everyone should love and if you don't you must be some kind of gaming heathen... and then I play them and don't find them to be all that great, and I truly believe it's because the audience set my expectations for the game so high. A good example of this for me is Disco Elysium. I heard it was basically the perfect game from everyone, but then I played it and found myself dreading pressing start on the title screen with every return visit because I knew I was in for a let down.
As far as games I was disappointed by... I know you just praised it, but Elden Ring for me. It wasn't *bad* don't get me wrong. But for me it felt like From really focused it's efforts in the wrong places. It's a real quantity over quality affair in my eyes and the result was me walking away from the game with no real lasting impressions - something I don't usually feel in FromSoft titles.
Its interesting that you felt that way about Elden Ring. Also I hard agree with you on Disco Elysium. I think we talked about that on my stream. That game seems dope but currently its not for me to play, rather I would watch someone play that game.
Brilliantly done! I think the absolute greatest disappointment of my entire existence is Mirror's Edge Catalyst, because EA wants me to personally suffer.
But also because I love starting fights on the internet, I loved both KH3 and Marvel's Avengers and that is a hill I will die on without hesitation
You’re brave for that last statement.
@@MrSaviorHD I like to live dangerously
The only pizza faux pas that I will get behind is the unconventional but underrated technique of using 100% authentic 100% farm raised grains of wheat to make the dough. There, I said it. I commend your bravery Senor Salvador Alta Definición
So brave
I know how we fix this. stop pre ordering games. wait until launch and then spend your money. or even double down and wait for a sale. if it's like elden ring then sure go buy it soon as possible. but if the reviews start coming out messy like saints row. just wait.
show the companies with our money that we don't like the greed. it sucks for the devs. it sucks for us. because at this point bitchin and saying this sucks isn't working. companies just seem to be doubling down. so we double down back.
Very true, that’s something I wish I could re-edit in this video. To stop pre-ordering. The big problem with that is the majority of gamers won’t stop. So it’s a small percentage that dips and it doesn’t really seem to effect their mindset. Also with the recent events that happened with stay at home working really effected all forms of entertainment quality.
tbh im really worried that the new Skate game won't live up to Skate 3, i really want it to, i spent hours on Skate 3 with friends
I am also worried about this. Once the game comes closer to release I'll probably make a video on it. Love those games.
amazing video! Loved the concept and 100% agree. Over hyping a game makes it easier to see through the ruse and you just know it's going to be garbage lmaoo
Glad you enjoyed!
I'm glad this kind of thing doesn't happen across the board with Nintendo games. Sure there are a lot of disappointments, but for BOTW for example, they showed an amazing experience and then went above and beyond with the delivery. Let's just hope that record stays true with Tears of the Kingdom.
GOD I pray that it will be as good or if anything better.
I've almost entirely stopped watching trailers, reading articles, listening to or watching dev streams.
I simply wait for a game to come out, play something else, and then watch game playthrough videos before making the judgement of whether i want to buy it or not.
Our wallets have the power to demand quality from these developers.
I'm so glad more content creators are actually pointing out that it's not devs fault, but corporate business man or management, many times it's both, but also the excessive hype from many people, especially on franchises, both together can fully kill a game entirely and reviving it requires a lot of work and a string of luck, look at Cyberpunk 2077, it's only now recovering on the blows that killed it, what we need is more higher ups that understand how a videogame is made and that if a customer isn't happy with it, it flops harder and harder, more companies showcasing what the games are actually like without the need to over hype it.
1000% I really hope that one day Cyberpunk will be better, and who knows, maybe the new expansion may fix things.
@@MrSaviorHD it did fix almost everything and it's a more stable game now, plus with a few simple mods it becomes an amazing experience, honestly worth getting back to the game right now and with the next update, more stuff will be fixed and introduced.
Resident Evil 3 Remake marked the last time I would ever preorder a game again.
Like I enjoyed 2 remake, but what even happened with 3? 😔
@@MrSaviorHD 3 isn't a bad game per se, but with how much Capcom asked for it, it severely under delivered. The original 3 had a bad rep for being the shortest of the original trilogy, but the gameplay was peak of classic RE. 3 Remake pretty much exacerbated 3's best and worst qualities in that while game is super fun to play, it's significantly shorter than the even the original 3. A lot was cut from it, and the fact that Resistance took resources from 3's development and ended up being garbage made the sting so much worse. The 3 remake we got would've been better served as a DLC for 2 Remake at no more than $30.
@@Blackpapalink I agree with the DLC addition. Would have made me felt better about paying for it with the amount of content it provided.
Amazing video dude! One game I was really excited for but then got it and was like meh. Was pokemon sun and moon, while some what a good game it did not live up too the hype at all.
I was also hyped for that game. Once I got it in my hands I realized that the game took a different approach. Nothing wrong with what they did, just at the time I wasn't into it.
I would say why the hype is gone becouse many titles we were brought up with had faded away. You have unrecognised games that mesh as the same thing as what we all know and seen. Play one game and see anther that look alike. It's like car company's you eventually start seeing a similarity too each other. EE games are surprising becouse say like metal gear solid and other old title games. They have gone or continued on without giving much thought into them. Capcom has giving something and worked really well.
Thats a pretty good comparison. Never thought about it like that!
I don’t really pay attention to mainstream hype honestly?
I just kinda make my own hype, there are a couple of Devs that get me excited every time, FromSoft and RGG studios for example, and they have not let me down yet.
Fair enough. That’s the way to go.
last game I was hyped for was pokemon arceus and I gotta say, they delivered for the most part. but graphically felt incredibly underwhelming. wondering if I've tailored my expectations and have just been brainwashed to accept mid-level games
Thats something I''ve thought about as well. Just allowing myself to get used to mid level experiences and saying that games are like that now.
For me Pokemon is a HUGE one, Pokemon is one of the biggest franchises to ever exist but they don’t give the games enough time to be made and they don’t listen to the fans. Arceus made me happy to be a Pokémon fan but again it fell short of expectations. (With all this said I will still buy every Pokémon game on release)
I will still also buy all the Pokémon games. One of them HAS to be good right??
BRO THE CYBERPUNK FOOTAGE LMFAO
Its beautiful, what do you mean???
I was hyped for Aliens Colonial Marines :(
I'm so sorry.
Love the Video I like it a lot more than the last one. Also a game i can not wait to get my hands on is slime rancher 2 which was just release early access and looks amazing. All in all 9/10 video
Slime Rancher 2 should be a good improvement from the last. Excited to see it evolve over the early access.
100% Agree that HYPE is nothing but pure vanity. It is getting excited in VAIN, especially after the disaster known as ANTHEM being the worst example filled with false-advertisement. Gaming nowadays is not as fun as it used to be. You hit it with "every company is doing the same thing."
In fact another youtuber I watch (BlackB0nd) made a video of the subject saying that he has never been more BORED with gaming.
Ya currently I've been finding myself getting bored with gaming as well. Glad you enjoyed the video gamer.
Is it weird that I'm usually happier with the hype? Not about the overpromised things companies do these days, I mean seeing an ad somewhere of a franchise that you know will probably be about the same quality as the last one and that's enough? Every time I saw a new 2D megaman being announced for the gba and ds got me hyped pretty hard, and when they came out I just enjoyed them.
Compare that to me now. I have no faith in major companies focusing on genres that I don't really care for where they overpromise features that I don't really find interesting in the first place and that they can't deliver. No hype to be had here. I have to go dig through the internet to find a morsel of hype from an indie dev who's been grinding away for 5-10 years. When that drops, that indie dev is unlikely going to be releasing anything new any time soon because it'll take them another 5 years to match what they did prior due to lack of manpower.
Hype just seems to be synonymous with the word hope, and really the alternative is unfortunately to have a hopeless outlook over the upcoming releases. I don't think it's the fault of the hopeful rather than marketing teams who will say anything to have us buy a game that might not even be finished.
"Hype just seems to be synonymous with the word hope" that really stuck with me. Wonderful comment. Thanks for watching this video. Its been a while since it released, but I'm happy that its kinda aged alright for the most part.
@@MrSaviorHD Oh I discovered you off Asmongold watching your video essay on No Man's Sky which was so good that I just had to check you out. Many of the topics you choose deserve discussion as they describe the era of gaming we are in and really it feels like there's no light at the end of this tunnel. It was enough for me to want to throw my two cents into the ether, I appreciate that you took the time to read it.
@@TlbHibiki Of course gamer! I actually read all of my comments, for better or worse. I appreciate you taking the time to visit my older content. Means a lot.

Thanks gamer.
I love Stardew Valley too 👻
rip Anthem, you had the best flight character movement I've played in a game and now it will never be utilized in the way it deserved
rip my Interceptor
I miss that movement so much :(
@@MrSaviorHD might revisit for an hour just to fly in a world that feels like a knock off, lifeless Pandora from Avatar
Become a pessimist, expect nothing, actually, expect the disk to shoot out and whack you in the genitals, expect your PSU to melt through the case and then what the case is on, expect a secret microtransaction when you level your character, expect an always online singleplayer system, if it's shit, you were right, and you can feel good about it, be smug, lord it over your peers, but if it's good, then you're pleasantly surprised, and you get to acquire a good game, and play it to completion.
It’s always nice when you get the good ones and actually sit there and complete it entirely . I have way too many games that I haven’t beaten.
@@MrSaviorHD Same.
FUCKING THANK YOU!!! Hype is SATAN! Though I gotta be honest, I actually like Saint's Row, it didn't seem that hyped up. Also, HOLD UP!!! People wanted grounded Saint's Row? Why? Where? Who? When? How?
When I took a look around the reddit for saints row it seems that this new one really split the community in a divide. The new game isnt all that bad. Just the story and world felt lacking for me compared to others in the series. On top of that the quality control was lacking. Seems like a fine game when its on sale.
@@MrSaviorHD
I just don't understand why a series that found its voice in weirdness would want to be grounded, that's all.
