How to Eat Century Eggs | Classic Chinese Century Egg Salad Recipe| Liang Ban Pi Dan凉拌皮蛋

  • Hi Everyone! Have you tried century eggs before? They are also called thousand year egg! People in China has been making and eating century eggs for hundreds of years and it is really delicious if you made it right! This recipe only requires a few ingredients and it is a classic century egg salad!     Here is the recipe
    Ingredients: Century Egg 2, Cilantro 1, Cayenne pepper 4 (can substitute with Thai Chili or other kinds of red hot chilies), jalapeño pepper 1, Garlic 2 cloves, cooking oil 2 tbsp, soy sauce 2 tbsp, salt 1/4 tsp, sugar 1tsp, vinegar 1tbsp, chili oil 1tbsp, sesame oil 1tsp
    Peel the century eggs, and cut each in half, then cut into 1/4 slices, place on a plate.
    Cut cilantro, peppers into small pieces. Mince garlic.
    Put minced garlic and chopped peppers in a bowl.
    Heat oil in a pan until almost smoking, pour on top the minced garlic and pepper and it should sizzle. Let it cool.
    Add in soy sauce, salt, sugar, vinegar, chili oil, sesame oil and cilantro in the bowl, mix well. This will be the sauce.
    Add sauce to each century egg with a spoon and then pour the rest of the sauce in the middle part of the plate.
    Serve.

    I think the cayenne pepper is going to be the hardest ingredient for me to find. 😂

      Any hot peppers can work!! Try some fresh Thai chili 🌶️🌶️:)

    I love these and have eaten countless numbers of them while in China. I sure miss some of the real Chinese dishes. Most Chinese in the USA is south China type cooking, all sweet. I prefer Sichuan or Hunan style. I also like hot pot, the spicy side! Can’t stand stinky tofu, I’ve tried it many times.

    Why is it called century egg?
    I was told its green egg left underground that has gone mouldy
