This. So much this. I see people, watchtubers mostly, asking WHY would anyone buy a homage? For one, the price vs performance makes no sense for many luxury watches. How much more am I getting for a watch when I pay $10000 vs $100? Unless I had a shit ton of disposal income, why would I want to even risk wearing something that's gonna get banged around? Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I'm also no rich so the fuck do I know.

Great review Dan. The homage watch looks really good and certainly is a credit to the brand. The only thing that would put me off buying it would be the butterfly clasp. , but I'm sure that an alternative could be found. Brilliant comparison review. 👍 not sure about the lugs, an interesting design for sure. Love the dial layout. Well done Longines! I’ve never got on with the Bliger brand name. Not sure about the meaning Urban Dictionary can be misleading sometimes however I’ll be sticking to the sterile dial just to be safe.
I have a Bliger Omega Seamaster homage with sterile dial - I'm very impressed by the build quality and accuracy plus the bezel movement is the best of the 3 homages I own (the bezel font is also replicated from the Seamaster). I see the Hydroconquest has recently gone up in price as a couple of months ago it was £950 RRP... not much in the grand scheme of things but just about equivalent to the price of each of my homage watches lol.
I bought the very same watch with the DG2813 and because I mod it's become my favorite watch to do so. I have +20 sets of hands, over 30 bracelets & straps plus different dials are readily available. That said my watch has issues, the bezels` inner race seems to be slightly too big and it wobbles, works fine but the wrong size. I bashed the crown so hard I immediately checked it fearing the worst and a few weeks later it no longer screwed down, if it's the materials used then I got what I paid for and won't complain, besides the gasket is in the tube so no worries... It is a looker and not surprising very flexible looks wise, I recommend this to beginner modders over Vostoks simply because everything is cheaper.
Thanks for doing this comparison. I was looking at purchasing the Longines. I've ordered a Bliger to see how the watch will feel on the wrist before pulling the trigger and dropping a large one on the original.
I guess this comparison would have been different a couple weeks ago! Nice to see the Longines guest appearance, it seems to have an effortless class...
My Hydroconquest was my first and only kind of luxury watch for 4 years, after I chose to pay it up interest free over 3 years. It was £790 rrp when I got it and the price has leapt up by £50 and £60 per year up to over a grand, for the aluminium bezel model. I was rather tickled when I saw the Bliger homage appear. It's a funny feeling to own a watch that is homaged in this way (I also own homages, too). As for the watch, even ignoring the heritage aspect, I doubt there is any way that the feeling of solidity, fit and finish that I get from the Hydro could be effectively replicated by the £58 watch. The endlink to lug width tolerance must be the tightest that is humanly possible. Every pull of the crown and turn to adjust the date and hands has zero play and does what it's supposed to, to perfection as far as I'm concerned. The bezel action (although the bezel design could be thicker) is glorious. The press-to-close tolerances in the clasp lock system, which many don't like, has been punch-expanded and machined to, practical, perfection too. When this thing is on it is going NOWHERE, believe me. And there's a knack that you can learn to get it off very easily, too (tell your friend: open the safety catch by pinching it, either side, between thumb and forefinger and pulling, then reach under the clasp with your forefinger and push out the middle, milled, 'strut'). The accuracy is amazing, for non-certified. It's still a keeper for me. The resale values aren't great, any more, perhaps because of the greater demand for Oris, Steinhart, Squale and various micro brands but it is a lot of Swiss engineered watch for the money. I would wholeheartedly recommend picking one up 2nd hand for what, now, seems around £500 - £750, if you happen to be in the market for such a thing.
The bliger is tad thick. I'm wondering if you can replace the case back with a less bulging one if anyone interested in a simple mod. That would slim down the overall thickness and make the watch instantly wear better.
