Replace the old pain in the rump fuel can spouts with EZ Pour spout kits. Like most people, I can't stand the new style "safety" spouts. They are the blight of lawnmower owners everywhere. I show you how to retrofit those pain in the rump gas can spouts with an actual normal spout you can get at Tractor Supply Co. The can I fix in this video is for a diesel tractor, but you get the idea.

I show you another kind of EZ Pour gas spout in this new vid: ruclips.net/video/B8xJ2yJLx6o/видео.html

I use valve stems that have a nut on the and take out the valve core for vents fish it in with a coat hanger
@@redbeard123 I bought 20 of the little yellow plastic vents like he shows on the video for $6.95 off of ebay from an american seller. Very easy to install and cheaper.... but I do like your idea.
So far so good. I’ve filled it twice and it’s great getting 13 gallons at one shot ruclips.net/user/postUgkx-vlHjazTv30m_UAq9Ht-fuPo2jBx7tTx . It pumps out by using gravity so the bottom of the tank needs to be above the vessel you're filling. Not a drop spilled filling the generator three times. Let’s see where we’re at after 20 fills.
Two years ago I took this man’s advice.
went TSC and converted about 8 gas and
kerosene jugs, and haven’t looked back.
No more spills, no more wrestling with the safety trigger, no more over flows;
just clean no mess reliable fuel exchange every time.
The spout conversion kits sold at
Tractor Supply are good quality and easy to install.
If your tired of this portion of the
EPA’S encroachment in you life, this is a simple remedy.
DO IT. You will be pleased with yourself.
What I found that works well for a vent is a regular valve stem from a tire, just remove the valve and replace the cap.😊✌
L
I HATE these types of fuel tanks. As I get older it gets harder to press the locking tab just to unscrew the spout. I'm glad you posted this video about the replacement spout because I'm also not a fan of the locking spout.
Check out the vp racing dirt bike gas jug, best can made.
Cut off the locking tab if it bothers you.
Those EPA spouts are worse than useless, they are a hazard to the environment because of how much gas you spill.
How many snowflake nitwits work at the EPA ??
@@kennyc388 Only the one that like Clean Water and air
I'll bet the guy who forced the EPA spouts on us also owns the company that makes them.
Right! I have to keep my feet 3 ft away from where I'm pouring. So I go rogue and toss the nozzle (I still make a mess lol)
The EPA cares about nothing but your money and land. Specifically, taking them.
I agree with you, Brother. The new ones are so difficult to use and I just take the spout off and insert the hand pump I use for pouring diesel fuel in my tractor, and just use a spout to pour fuel in my mowers.
I have spilled more diesel fuel with those nuisance "safety" spouts". I didn't know they came out with a" normal" spout kit. But I'm glad to see they exist and how easy it is to install one in my diesel container. Thanks for the helpful info.
Good for lawnmower can too.
tublesstired I understand where you are comming from. i have a farm tractor but no transfer tank or fuel island to go too. im forced to use fuel cans for now. Its a nightmare dealing with 3-4 cans of diesel and spilling a quarter of each can fighting the safty nozzel. My TSC doesnt have these yet, but im waiting. In the mean time, ill just go onto amazon and buy it. Never have i had to deal with these safty nozzels till i had to get diesel cans..
Your tax dollars at work feeding do goodera at great pay to do all our thinking for us. Less government. You've heard do more with less, right. Well that's one area where every dollar spent stops two dollars of GDP.
Another example of the California influence on the rest of the country. Most of these plastic jugs are manufactured in China and are designed to comply with California standards. The spout vent is supposed to draw up gas fumes escaping the tank into the jug just like a California type gas nozzle at the pump. These "eco-friendly" innovations are the cause for more spills and wasted gas than any other method of transferring fuel. It's a shame that now you have to pay extra to recreate the trusty ol' tin Jerry Jug and goose neck spout
I wish southern California would just secede from the union already so they can be as "special" as they want and the rest of us can watch them implode like another Venezuela.
BTW don't be surprised if they make buying this kits illegal once people start finding out about them.
I spill 10 times ore gas with the safety nozzle than I do with my old nozzle ive had for 30 years.-- Rediculous design on the new cans.
Mr. Baseball
I agree 100%.
Mr. Baseball - how true how true. Can't stand them.
Check out the vp racing dirt bike gas jug, best can made.
The worst thing is that you can not get the old style cans any more. If you find them get them while you can.
@@ThatcherKSA is that same as the quick poor ones for racing? If so those aren't practical for most things
I rarely spilled any gas with the old design, but with the new designs I spill it all the time. Its so bad that I take off the spout and pour right from the can.
I take the spout off and pour my gas through a large funnel. Go slow & no spills.
I do, too, or I use a funnel that I bought for the shop.
Exactly I do the same. It's refreshing to know that there's still people on planet Earth with common sense! Good job buddy!
Fn right
I have never poured more fuel all over myself and my equipment as I do now with the new spouts.
I only accidentally came across your video. Thank You!! I have several such cans and have needed a smart solution. The variety of nonsensical designs for spouts proves that some engineers have too much time on their hands and can be assigned projects for which they have NO field experience. I didn’t think to hunt for a RUclips video for such a minor problem. Well presented, and your concern about drilling plastic is worth the time added imo. I will check out more of your videos.
Finally!!! You have given me the opportunity to chuck the garbage spouts I have been dealing with for years. Just last week, I had to use my bottled gas to add to my jeep. It was such a pain in the ass to press the spout in just the right position to push the outer sleeve back to allow the gas to flow. In addition, there is no vent, so the bottle collapsed with every chug of gas. I have searched for the old style spouts for years. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome find! Also, Thanks for the link to the spout at Amazon. I plan to share this with my buddy who is as annoyed as I am with the new spouts.
Many years ago I started adding a vent by pounding a roofing nail in the right place, the wide head works easy to grip, and if lost it's easy to replace.
good idea
I'm with you man I bought my at rural King same product those so called safety spouts are a joke, thanks for the video!
Thanks. Glad you liked it!
After doing the pilot drill use the final bit in reverse wont grab just go slow.
No, you just take your lighter and warm up the plastic after drilling pilot hole. (I, the jackass known as "All2Skitzd", and the creator of this video, known as "Arnold's Design" assume no liability if anyone tries this on a used gas can, but if you decide to do as such on a used gas can please make video.)
Now you have bits of plastic in your can . They will really screw up your carbs ! DUH
They are big pieces, the fuel filter will keep them out of the carburetor.
I hate the new ones as well, they spill a lot more
Man, there are a lot of folks out there that get pissed off about a simple video showing an improvement on a lame government mandated safety feature that doesn't work well. Good video, friend!
Thanks!
They are the ones that never had to use one...
Oh ya thos new gas cans are horrible ..
There is more to it than that, EPA may not be the blame. I think you can thank a Lawyer for that.
The reason normal people get mad is they can't believe they're actually that many people out there who can't figure out how to use a simple gas can. It's like we've got to dumb down the gas can so the Jerry's kids out there can use them without spilling gas.
seriously how hard can these automatic nozzles be for those special people to operate.
You pick up The Jug press a button, put the nozzle into the tank, the weight of the can will automatically open the nozzl and the gas pours out automatically.
Then when you're done you lift the can out of the tank it automatically stops pouring gas....
wow how hard was that LOL I wouldn't be surprised if half the people complaining about these gas cans can even tie their own shoes.
I didn't know that Tractor Supply had these in a single package like this. I bought a six pack online for around $30 that had every replacement part for both threads as well, but then again I needed that many to refurbish all of my old cans. Good stuff! Thanks for posting.
I love these I have them on every can I own and try to have extras in case one goes bad, the larger size one works the best for filling my heavy equipment, smaller ones for everything else
I use only vintage WW2 Jerry Cans .. I have 5 of them ... simple, durable, and cool! :)
I gave up on the plastic gas cans years ago as they always leaked from the spout when pouring gas into my lawn mower, ATV, etc. I spent a little extra money on a metal Eagle Safety Can and haven't looked back since. No leaks, easy to pour, and self venting.
Andrew Ford I had some of those and they got small holes in botttom from sitting on rocks on my truck. The spouts sometimes have leaks but you can fix them with kits
It's not so much the plastic as it is the rocket science spouts. I have a few older plastic cans that work great.
Awesome finally something just like old ones back in 70's. Thanks for showing us. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice! takes forever to fills me tractor with the "safe" cans, I will do this. one tip, this guys pretty competent with a hand drill, if you kids are worried about blowin' through the other side of the handle, wrap some tape around the bit so as it can only go in 1/4' or so. Peace.
It's hilarious that a video aimed at helping people (who expected that on RUclips) gets negative comments from the only person identifying with govt work. Lol
Right you are.

Seven minute video for 2 minutes information... Still a much needed... THANKS
Thanks for your comments :)
I watched this earlier, went out and bought two, installed them easily (but you will get plastic slivers in the can when you drill so be careful) but they are unbelievable. I did have to use my old threaded caps as he mentions. Well worth the cost. I could not get the tether end through the holes so I used some twine I had. Works fine.
Thanks, Great details. One trick to add; when drilling into soft material run the drill in reverse to avoid the "Bite" you spoke to.
vape disappear without being tied down
Or use a stubby step bit...
I saw guy cut about 6" gash in his gasser, then proceeded to pour it in his tank, most of it running all over the car. Unbelievable.
🤣🤣🤣🤠
I bought something like that at Menards and I love it you can also use the same cap that came with the gas can
they made a new safer gas can, it has no holes at all so you cant get gas in it or out of it.....perfectly safe
Now that’s a dumb idea, when government sees this, they will pass a law for it🙃
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I totally agree with the other comments. WHY in the world did they change these spouts in the first place. I too have spilled more gas trying to use these new ones than EVER before. THEY ARE AWFUL.
Thanks again for the vid.
You're welcome.
Nice video. Just got my 5 gal gas tank from Lowes. I know what you mean by the "strut" like springs.... yep, it's def not right. I think I have a solution to all those who haven't thrown or destroyed the original nozzle out just yet. There's a simple solution which is to simply remove the spring. It's so easy that you'll kick yourself for not thinking of it in the 1st place. Once the spring is removed.... the plunger slides in & out easily. After the nozzle is improved, just make sure the slide part is located at the top side, not on the under-side or it will def leak. Ok, you probably want to know how to remove the spring without breaking the damn thing. Simply activate the slider & push the slider in...... while holding the slider so it doesn't close ... remove the O-Ring from the other side that prevents leakage... this releases the slider from the nozzle. Then you're ok to remove the "strut" spring. Put back together along with the O-Ring on the plunger side & you have a working nozzle with a functioning locking stopper.
Thank you for your ideas. Another vent will also increase fuel flow.
Just use a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the guts out of the spout. Drill a small vent hole in the underside of the handle. I use many cans in my lawnmower business.
It is sad, that people have to modify or fix a new fuel can to make it work right, so they do not spill fuel on the ground anymore.
It's a fuel container, not a can.
@@freddyflypogger8941 who gives a damn what it's called!!

Even though you screwed the hole.....you nailed it my friend 👍nice work!👌
I worked for a wind turbine repair team. We had Ford F250 diesels. I bought a yellow diesel 5 gal can and told the drivers NEVER to run the tank dry. Of course they did run the diesel tank so just refilling the tank doesn't recharge the fuel injectors (requiring, if you're lucky, a 5 minute fuel pump cranking while someone held the air bleed valve (like a tire valve) open. Got so often that I'd dock that 5 man team, 1 hour pay unless the driver own up.
I bought the parts on amazon, making it like the old cans was the best thing I did. You can order the vent and the nozzle. I spill a lot of less gas sense I did it
The thumb position vent can be used to throttle the fuel outflow I'll bet.
I was down in Charleston, SC a few years ago, and found a hardware store that had stocked up on the "old style" gas cans right before a hurricane came in, only the hurricane hung a right at the last minute and didn't do much damage ... they had a whole room full of the "old" gas cans ... I bought all of them I could fit into my car and gave 'em to my friends when I got back to upstate New York ...

Wish I'd seen this video last week. Great stuff! Thanks for making this video!
you should remind everyone to flush the can after you drill the vent hole so any plastic that fell inside won't get put into your motor.
Good idea, but one thing I forgot to mention in the video is that these spouts have a fine metal screen at the base, so chips probably won't be issue after all.
Awesome! I actually ordered one of these right after watching your video! Thanks!
kawboy216 that's what a full filter is for
Preston Wheeler ohhhh you mean a fuel filter. That may be true but I'd still prefer to not pump plastic shards through my fuel lines if I can avoid it. To each their own
You should flush
A neighbor was cleaning out her mom’s garage and gave me a bunch of old military Jerry cans that had some surface rust. I coated them with POR15, filled with gas and tossed my stupid EPA cans in the trash. Haven’t spilled a single drop since.
I use tire stems on mine. You have to remove the core of course and the hole needs to be bigger but it seats so well it never leaks.
YES!! This is the ticket. I do this with gas and diesel cans that I buy cheap at rummage sales. Perfect. I see now that you can buy a two pack of just the vents from the same manufacturer that makes the replacement spouts. Might be better because the vent cap has a tether. I do keep extra tire valve caps in case I lose one on my gas can vent.
I went to tractor supply and purchase one of these and I like it very well but I have not added the vent but I still have it for a later install.
Thank you so much for the video. My gas cans are the bane of my existence. What a pain to use them! Can’t wait to try this!
I was wondering if I was the only person that found all these new nozzles terrible. I've just been unscrewing the whole thing and pouring from the large opening, LOL
That's why people love Trump. You want more ridiculous EPA shit keep voting for a clueless liberal asshole.
They're a POS just like the Obama loving gubment restrictions.
ha ha me too have to use a funnel
Pick up one of those siphon hoses with the ball bearing in one end. Stick that end down in you fuel can, shake it a bit and watch the fuel flow. BTW, for the short bus riders out there, make sure the other end is in the item you are adding the fuel to. LOL! Mine empties a 5 gallon can in about 3 minutes or less. NO SPILLAGE AT ALL!
Yep, I pour right from can to a trans funnel. Works great!
Give this man a thousand dollars.

I got 2 of these from tractor supply and they work great. No more spilling overpriced gasoline!

Thanks so much for this video!
Thanks and you're welcome.

Yea when they first came out I stuck the nozzle in my weed eater and when I pushed in that friggin thing on the nozzle some air had built up and gas blew every where.
Yes! In my first two uses of the newer EPA approved spouts I contaminated more soil with spilled diesel than in all my previous diesel-pouring years.
@@bingosunnoon9341 Probably should. I was relying on the instructions. Found it much easier just to screw the entire top mechanism off and pour it through a funnel. You would think one could be designed that wouldn’t require getting a tutor to use it properly. At first I thought it was just me until I saw so many similar similar comments.Appreciate your suggestion, anyway.
The kit I bought online looks just like that one. The instructions that came with said to use a 1/2" step drill bit or a paddle drill bit. I used a paddle and it worked great. The fit was really tight, I used a hammer to get it in there but I still had to use a gasket sealer to make it air/gas tight.
Arnold, this video made my day brother! Made me laugh a lot as I felt the exact same way as how you expressed it in the video. Great job and keep up the good videos.
Thanks for the awesome comment!
Arnold's Design Thank you. Stepping up the drill bits in plastic was something I learned today.
It keeps the hole round, which is important so the vent doesn't leak. A spade drill or step drill works even better. Thanks for your comments :)
I should have known that someone would have a retro kit for these safety nozzles.
The one that designed the retro fit nozzle that is simple and works is a real designer probably an old fart that owns a farm or lawn mowing business?
I always take the spout off and use a funnel.
Me, too
THANK YOU!!!!! I have 6 of those cans that I have to fill every couple of weeks... NOT A SINGLE ONE works.... all of them have broken.... this will help alot!
Someone please explain to me:
a) What the heck the EPA was smoking when they came up with this mandate.
b) How are those new nozzles any 'better' than old ones? Like....what purpose do they serve? I spill more fuel because of those infernal new nozzles than I ever did using the regular cans and I literally see no benefit what-so-ever to them.
Kcducttaper1 tell me about. I was spilling shit everywhere all over me and the lawnmower. I gave up on trying to fill it
They followed California's guidelines. Need I say more?
Spill proof? No, spill PRONE.
This is how they justify having a job.
You guys aren't even close. Your moron university trained tax paid government goody goody's--
Mandate gas water heaters be sealed then flame proof the inlet combustion air screen.
As soon as you light the thing the screens start to clog with dust. The next 4 years (normal conditions) less oxygen is supplied
each day until the 40,000 BTU flame is 50% less efficient and 50% more carbon monoxide.
And get this, the reason was because some dick spilled gasoline on his basement floor and blew himself and the house up.
The government decided (because they are here to help) it was the water heater's open flame that was at fault.
Actual humans understand that god sometimes needs to fix a mistake.
u2mister1, sounds like one of my drunken rants, natural selection, don't try and curb it or it rears it's head 10 fold ;)
Thanks for the great video. Gubment really screwed up fuel cans. Thank goodness for the EZ-Pour spout kit. .
Glad to see I'm not the only one to discover EZ Pour. I did this to all my gas cans.
Great minds think alike.
I just keep moving my old flexible nozzle back and to forth to my fuel containers as needed. Thanks for the tip.
You're welcome. I'm glad it helps.
And all of this time Ive been tearing the spring loaded crap off in attempt to make it into a normal spout, It never occurred to me that someone made a spout that could fix what the government screwed up. lol
I'm glad it helped.
If you have an air compressor it works great to blow a bunch of air through the can after drilling. Helps get any bits of plastic out of there.
I'm thinking you could blow air into the spout while drilling to blow the shards back out rather than into the can. I've done a couple without this idea. It is a very quick process.
I just bought the blue kerosene cans, instead. They came with the old flex tube and vent system and were cheaper than the gas and diesel cans.
I did this to all my fuel cans a few years ago. It makes fueling and filling faster. My guess why it was a dumb idea was to not allow vapors to escape, BIG DEAL!!!
As I understand it, the spouts were changed to prevent people from pouring gasoline onto campfires. Some idiots managed to get burned badly and the govt thought it could fix stupid.
"It's just stupid" - Arnold's Design 2017
EXACTLY!! I throw these new fangled spouts away and just use my funnel. Great video!
Thanks!
Looks like a trip to my local Tractor Supply is in order...
Use a half inch paddle bit with cutting points on outside edges. Cuts the middle and edges out at the same time. And for gas cans that have had gas in them, your drill motor is an ignition source. Rinse the can out with water then fill with water before you drill. Then drain the water out of the can. This gives you also a feel for the new vent too. Leave the can upside down for a few hours.
Uhh, I'll take my gas without water contamination thank you. Just simply take an air compressor and blow air through the empty tank, that will get rid of the flammable gas fumes without risking water being left in the can, which you're definitely not going to want to mix with gas.
Bought new gas cans for hurricane season last year. I HATE the spouts. Designed to keep gas in the can, NOT for pouring. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing, Those new style spouts are a pain in the ass.
You're welcome. Glad it helped.
Those damn safety sprouts are like Puzzles I can't figure them out and, I also spilt more gas with those than I have with the normal spouts
Because spilling more gas is good for the environment. Thank you, regulation.
So glad they sell this and for your video. Those new gas spouts make me use a funnel and pour from the can with the nozzle removed. I hate those new safety nozzles!
I've told my wife if I ever get killed while using one of these "safe" gas containers to sue the hell out of the company. These things are no where near as safe as the old gas cans!
I think a class action lawsuit needs to be opened up against these gas spillers. Somebody call the EPA
Don't like the new gas can design either, thanks for the info, great video.
Great Video ! I just spilled about a quart of gas trying to use the new "Safety Spout" I did not know about the Easy pour spouts THANK YOU ! Bob in Michigan
I'm glad it helped!
Yes, I hate “these things” too!
How “someone” could screw up old-school, spouts, that worked so well, is beyond me. Probably the EPA is responsible!
Thx for the video - I know, I’m not alone!!
Good vid. I already added the vent cap to all my fuel cans but the spring loaded spouts are a real pain in the ass. I'll swing by Tractor Supply sometime this winter and pick up a dozen of those new flexible spouts with screw on caps. Thanks.
I've a plastic rigid spout on my 25yr old plastic 2.5 gal gas can. I love it I've had numerous flexible ones like yours and mine always split between the ridges. The ridged one is tapered and the last 1/3 at the end is at a 25 degree angle. I've never found another one like it.
I've another one like the first one you showed and I took it apart and made a few modifications to it so you don't have to press down when filling the gas tanks.
I usually cut that stupid lock off, makes it a lot easier to use.
And some people want the government to be in charge of their medical care...
I hardly think this is a reasonable comparison. Ever hear of Medicare?
I agree these spouts aren't designed to fill up mowers, tractors , etc. It takes two hands and a good aim. But, I discovered the one I have is convenient to put gas in the car. With the old design, I would have to use a funnel, but with these I just turn it upside down and press it into the fill tube , it doesn't open until it's inserted, and it hasn't spilled a drop. For anything else, it's a pain.
I could invent a new spout and if I had enough money to bribe my representative they would mandate it.
First, the EPA can kiss it. Second, thanks for posting this. I'm gonna go buy their stocks now. Third, why on earth do you have over 3000 dislikes on this video?? Are they EPA employees or what? (rolls eyes)
I wonder about the dislikes also. Very handy info!
Try using a step drill they will make a clean concentric hole and will not grab like a regular drill, they are very reasonable and are perfect for shallow holes and sheet metal. Harbor Freight has them for very little money they also have a 3 piece set that will go from about 1/8 inch to 1.0".
Good information about the replacement cap. A WARNING!! I wouldn't use an electric drill--even a cordless one, when drilling a hole in a fuel can. Diesel is relatively non-explosive, but if it's a gas can, the arc from the drill's brushes can ignite fuel vapors and cause the can to explode.
You did a great job with this. Thanks for the information.
It’s about time someone countered the stupidity of safety gas cans. You have no idea how much gas I’ve spilt just fighting with gas can safety spouts.
I still have a few old style plastic gas cans and the old style spouts, and looking for more at garage and yard sales. If the EPA thinks the new valved spouts are such a good idea maybe the EPA can take their new style spouts and use them for an enema. They're so full of stupid ideas they could use a good flushing. The EPA has outlived their usefulness so now they're going after any little thing to justify their existence.
Amen!!
I have spilled more gas in the last year with these stupid vented spouts then I have in 45 years previous.
So think about this if everyone is spilling fuel, isn't that more pollution than some vapors escaping into the atmosphere with the old spouts or am I just the brain dead idiot the government thinks I am ?
I use the vented spout as a fucking cap, and simply use a funnel. They are bullshit!
Likewise. I have never spilled more fuel since the “safety cans” started ruining my life.
Good idea- I've been using old cans and new cans without the new self-launching nozzles that should never have been built.Thx for the video.
You're welcome. Thanks for you comments.
I'm curious about the vent location. Do you find that when you pour (particularly when the can is full) fuel wants to spill out the vent? Seems a little further back would be a little more strategic. Anyway, I, just like everybody else, despise those worthless "spill free" garbage quality dispensers. Actually, I think they are designed to spill and piss you off! A government product for sure.
I haven't had any issues with vent spillage at all. Further back is always a good idea on a horizontal handle, but on an angled handle like this one, further back also means further down, so you have to be careful of the fuel level when filling the can. I'd say place the vent as far back as you can but make sure it is still above the top of the can.
Good enough for me! Thanks for the reply. BTW the very end of your sewer pipe plastic weld mod video cracked me up. Branch falling after the dog disrupting your train of thought.....hilarious!
Thanks. I'm including more of that in future videos.
Shiloh2rtn the air being sucked in as the fuel flows out so fuel doesn't spill out the vent.
Yeah that hole he made was in perfect spot, if you spill out that hole then you got the can too full or you are putting the fuel in wild style, probably spilling it anyways
Good video. But heads up for the new style Blitz brand cans. Neither cap in the ez pour kit threads on properly and the original cap had the spout molded to it. So impossible to use the original cap. I've never had so much trouble with gas cans until this new design came out. They basically turned something that was easy to use, safe, and effective into a dangerous, complicated, nightmare that can't be fixed in some cases.
Thanks for the heads up. I will look for one of the new styles and see if there is a work-around. I have a feeling ez-pour will make a new kit that adopts these new threads.
I hope so. The cap that came with the can actually cracked, so I have the ez pour spout screwed on as tight as I can get it without the treads skipping. It's not sealed so I get evaporation and spillage every time I use it. I find the best way to solve the problem is to throw the entire can/spout into the garbage immediate after you buy it, LOL.
there are no new blitz cans ....blitz closed its doors rather than comply with the government edict.
I bought the same one at tractor supply. Way better than the dangerous ones that come with the can. Just wish the neck was more flexible.

I also hate the new ones they all ways seem to leak when pouring
I cut most of the spout off with a hacksaw and threaded in a 1/2" male pipe thread X 5/8" male flare brass fitting. Then put 5/8" copper tube on after I flared the one end.
