Waiting two hours for a villager to chop down a particular tree is the sort of patience I must applaud. (politely claps)
That matches my play style in singleplayer. Often I task myself with stupid objectives and delay the victory of an almost won scenario for ages and just enjoy myself...
The price of being morally good! Worth it
@@JoschMajor I do this too! Except the exact opposite way from T-West - I must WIPE the map clean of all my enemies, regardless of what the scenario objectives are. Like in Barbarossa 1, I just won't take the 4th relic and win by conquest. :D

El Cid: "No problem sire, already done, he's right here."
King Sancho: "Oh, and don't forget to kill my champions and get on a horse!"
El Cid: " ... Do I have to?"
I actually clapped my hand on my forehead and yelled "nooo" when you zoomed out after saying "if only that tree wasn't there"
How fuckin fast I clicked on this notification, thank you, TWest, you succesfully lead Spain into a pacific nation, now comes the age of Spanish Inquisition, hopefully they will continue on in peace.

I SWEAR TO GOD I managed to leave the tournament with mounted El Cid in the legacy version when I was a kid and had no clue why it let me out without failing. I could also not read English very well at that time. But later I headed to the city and got banished. If the trigger also worked like that in the old version, then it makes complete sense that it may have happened by accident.
That's actually amazing. I remember the time I figured out how to get the entire Hun army in the first mission. My English was very bad at that time and didn't really understand all the triggers, but at least that was easy to replicate. I never thought about trying this with El Cid.
It happened to me once years ago and I could never reproduce it. But once I understood how the game checked the triggers and saw it was only a narrow area, it made sense.
Well, with speed of 1.32 tiles/s, if you happen to cross the boundary perpendicularly, there is a 1 - 1/1.32 = 24% chance you get through even if you don't try to time it

@@antinerd55 It's something I just threw together quickly for this video. I only did it for this one scenario. I don't know of a full mod for the original voice acting, but there's probably one out there if you look for it.
I just copied the mp3 files from the HD Edition, converted them to wav, and then to the WEM format DE uses by following this guide: ruclips.net/video/39Oeb4GvxEc/видео.html

@@antinerd55 there is a guy named button bash on youtube you can find many mods on his channel of aoe 2. i love his mods personally, he has made old unit icon mod, old audio track mod, old voice acting mod, and even old cataphract reskin mod.

the original game didn't have hero protection vs monk conversion. but does he have a functional copy of age of kings and something to play it on.
@@zebfirehd9102 He actually tried that in the original video of the Genghis Khan campaign. To sum it up in order to get monks in that scenario, you have to kill some cavalry archers to get your starting base and villagers.
funny how even in DE they still keep the old fashioned way to prevent the AI garrisoning king sancho lol
The crazy king running back and forth is such a classic part of this scenario 11.
Out of curiosity, how do they do it?
@@mohitmishra2713 Whenever an AI player has a King, it tries to garrison the King in a Castle. The scenario has a trigger with a Task Object effect that repeatedly keeps moving the King back to the tournament grounds.

No wonder King Sancho got killed in the next scenario, if he still insists on the tournament to find a champion to bring back his brother even with him standing next to him his eyes cant be sufficient to notice a murder

I‘d be very intrigued to see the Pacifist ways of newer campaigns as well as I‘m currently on my slow and steady playthrough of all of them. Unfortunately I‘m a barbarian just killing units left and right to reach my goals. I’m telling myself it needs to be done but deep down I know I may be wrong.

This is awesome. I wasn't expecting any updates for this, great to see when randomly revisiting the old playlist. The Among The Hidden mention makes me a little sad, though. It seems like he privated all his videos at some point and now they're all unavailable, which sucks. I really enjoyed those. Hopefully nothing bad happened.

I'll have to play around with what exactly the condition is, and whether being garrisoned counts. On the way back though I didn't even have to time it. You garrison from about 1 tile away. I'm not sure if El Cid even touches the area when he hops in.

Awesome stuff, man. It's a shame most of the newer campaigns require you to kill something in one form or another, but I think Sundjata and possibly Francisco should be doable for a pacifist run.

Cid: I am waiting for someone to chop this tree, so I can sneak out to that tower, then I will climb the tower and jump from the top, leave this tournament quietly. I knew some religious friend and they will help me steal from King Sancho's fief. I will train them and give them suiside bombs to kidnap King Sancho's brother. After all this I will come back and pretend nothing happens and force all my opponent to kill themselves to win the tournament, so my blade can stay dry.

I remember that one historical mission "Dos Pilas" where you have to defend against the enemy but eventually failed. I resisted the whole time defending the gate figured that is the trigger for surrendering. And take out the enemy city since they're not producing anything, other than spawning endless group to my town.
Now event fires of without destroying the gate. They figured people willing to play more than two hours plus, just to circumvent the intended objective 😂
