I have a strange feeling that when it comes time to release bombshell that it’s going to split the fan base pretty bad as half of the fans will probably want him to be in a uniform color scheme with the other two insecticons as the other half will want him to be in the more cartoon, accurate, gray color. I personally hope for the former, and then they could do a re-color later on as a studio series 86 bombshell figure.
Your videos are so useful especially when it comes to the transformations....I have given up on the instructions at this point and just watch your video's every time I get a new Transformers figure
I have these original 3 figures, and they are absolutely spot on. I cannot wait to get Shrapnel and Bombshell. That being said......these are NOT the only insecticons. They are the only ones to hit TV due to some kind of copyright at the time. But there is also Barrage, Chop Shop, Ransack, and Venom from G1. I do not know if they even have the ability to make these figures anymore, but it would be so awesome to get them again. The G1 figures are outrageously priced, and very hard to find complete.
As a fan of OG Insecticonsicons I'm really looking forward to obtainingaining this guy guy. I hope they treat Bombshell as well. I find it just a little strange yet oddly satisfying that the transformation on these insecticons is nearly identical to the original figures. They just made them bigger and added some bits, but no instructions necessary, really.
I would also love Insecticons that transformed into robotic insects instead of the vaguely insect-shaped vehicles the G1 Insecticons transform into. That's why I'm hoping the FoC Insecticons will turn up in Studio Series one day.
Honestly, I think this is a bit more successful than kickback. My big problem with kickback was that his thighs don't recede into his legs to just ever so slightly cover up that he's a robot on his back, and his weird weapon really doesn't work well as a thorax cuz it looks too much like an energy effect. That said, I do sort of like both of them anyway. It's weird, but part of me would love like.... I guess it'd kinda be a retread of what we got before, but core class versions so you can make a little army of them. They multiplied in the show, right? I can't remember if that was from the show or just in that one game. It's irrelevant anyway, I've kinda fallen out of collecting, what with the sword of damaclese that is my accumulating college debt looming over my head.
I was gonna hard disagree about the thorax thing but then I remembered I have Ransack not Kickback lol, only problem with Ransack is the yellow on his thighs dont match the yellow of the rest of the figure lol
This Shrapnel looks great overall; the torso is just a little short, but what bothers me much more than that is the back of the torso not being black. This figure isn’t a large deluxe, so there wasn’t a ton of plastic, parts, panels, etc. used. The engineering is far from complex/complicated. So leaving the back of the torso purple seems like a really cheap shortcut. Still, for me he looks just as good as Kickback. The insect mode is exactly what I wanted. Now, for Bombshell, I want it screen accurate, so the torso should be gray. I think there are probably more people in favor of this. And if people don’t care, then why not make it gray for all of those that do care. Anyway, I’m happy this figure is on the way. He’s one of the last 8 figures (that we know are being released) that I’m getting. Then I’ll be retiring from collecting.

Sure, they all turn into animals, but you might as well say the same for the Dinobots. The Insecticons aren't just robots who turn into bugs, they're robots who turn into robot bugs, just like how the Dinobots turn into robot dinosaurs I do also wish they painted the horns chrome though
You need to remember that these are toys made for kids, a kid is gonna see on the back of the box that you can make a giant weapon and not think "that looks stupid" they're gonna think "wow, that is so cool! I can make a big gun!"
Love both them. Bombshell is my favorite Insecticon so I can’t wait for him. Kickback looks great with the ToyHax decals on him. I’ll for sure grab them for Shrapnel too.
If your store still has beast wars you will most likely have to get shrapnel from BBTS as most stores are giving transformers a pass due to dismal beast war sales.

My figure was pre-ordered on Amazon and both Amazon and Hasbro pulse said that it wasn't coming out till I think May 5th. Yesterday I got an email saying your item has shipped and sure enough he's here in hand today! So if anyone is looking for him maybe start looking online today March 24th 2023
Disappointed with the lack of arm covers. He's small for a deluxe and his engineering is super simple. It's a pity they couldn't use some of the parts count to panel off his arms. His weapons also appear to be a waste of budget just like Kickback.

I cant wait for the inevitable chopshop repaint of shrapnel since im collecting the deluxe Insecticons instead of the normal ones since i just find them more interesting

Hi PVP, Thank you for this review. As soon as I saw the Pre-order page for Shrapnel I looked forwards to your review. I have Kickback so have to get Shrapnel, loved the Insecticons back in the day. I accept that it is what it is but I own Kickback and I love him but I do wish he wasn't so square and looked a little more like a grasshopper. It looks like Shrapnel will follow the same pattern. Never mind, all being well I hope to collect all three of them any way.
I want a repaint 3 pack of the E-hobby colored Clones, clones. Give us Zaptrap, Salvo, and Shothole to increase the ranks of our Insecticon Swarm, swarm.
Have you seen the newest episodes of Earthspark? The second part was really dark for being a kids show. But I appreciate Roger Craig Smith as Breakdown and Alfie Allen as Tarantulas.
Stering review, my bro! I hope the Hasbro Design Team will maintain certain consistencies like non-rotating wrists, blast-effect compatibility, waist rotation, multi-Mech-Tech ports, transparent pseudo-cockpit, 3-piece weapons (albeit some no longer being clear 'Energon'), Deluxe-sized, and etc. for the upcoming Bombshell as well. This will lend towards the trio truly feeling like they are part of a single specialised unit of sorts (in spite of each being spread out throughout 3 Legacy sublines). 🤩 Keep the passion burning (and the bugs 'buzzing'! 😂
I'd have to say that out of the box I kinda like Kickback better. However, it looks to me that upgrading Shrapnel will be very easy thanks to all those 5mm ports all over him. Consider that for a more realistic beetle mode akin to the Titans Return figure all you really need is a pair of bug legs to plug into the ports on the backs of his shoulders, and two pairs of bug legs to plug into the ports under his wrists. What I'd like to know is if they will do something like that for a Chop Shop repaint. It would be really nice if he came with more than just an alternate head for Shrapnel, but regardless I'm sure we'll see some upgrade kits for it.
WAIT maybe next time if bombshell is reveald maybe for know people can display shrapnel and kickback with foc planet x hardshell you know if anyone has one

I think shrapnel's bug mode is a case where 100% g1 accuracy isn't always the best for a modern look
