Thousands are carrying his style on. I disagree about the music and techniques, we would have gotten there eventually. It's just amazing that all of those things came out of one guy so quickly. Phenomenal
@@CameronCooper Hey Cameron , the sixtuplet spanish fly run is tough to keep up with you .. took me a couple hours if not more. especially when it goes to the 1,2 ,3.. shift . love ur lessons bro!
great video- really shows the genius of evh- how lots of the actual notes and techniques are not complicated and they are composed of simple parts- it's just that they are played so quickly and fluidly that they sound so impressive and tough to understand- way to explain them so basically and simply
Dude, thank you I’ve been trying to work on this stuff for two days straight now I didn’t even sleep last night thanks soooi much for the video of the late great ed vanhalen
Same with me Cameron, the You re no Good solo is so overlooked. Its (slow) groovy tempo makes it one of EVH finest solo . Other 2 songs we rarely talk about are Dirty Movies (same slow funkish tempo) and Take Your Wiskey Home which to me si the ultimate Roth era VH song. There are some gems in Hagar's catalogue too . I wished Eddie would have made a "multiple singer" record like Slash and Tony Iommi did. Not to forget Ygnwie Inspiration record simply outstanding
Omg Cameron I wanted to know that tapping part but just started playing again n couldn't figure it out. Thank you so much. That's a kick he likes a lot.
Great demonstration excellent explanation of what you're doing very you made it very easy to follow what you're doing now it's just a matter of being able to play it great job
You are very kind to show us all this technical stuff Cam. I still don't get it but I've always been slow to pick up on these things (learning difficulties !) But bless you, young Man, for being so generous with your skill, time and patience. Cameron Cooper, 🤗☺️❤️🇬🇧✌️🖖👋
Very good lesson, sounds so impressive. Next week i hope my Yamaha thr30ii will be delivered, can't wait to try this amp out, with this lesson. Thnxs for youre nice lessons and demo's.
I suspect he'll have ran out of ideas. His playing pretty much stopped enhancing in the early 90s methinks. It was just channelled more creatively through different songs to the Roth years.
Cam wins the internet today thanks for this awesome lesson so much appreciated! You are a guitar wizard so much talent thanks for all your hard work and sharing your knowledge. Your an inspiring young man and listening to you play is a absolute pleasure.I think I’ve been subscribed when you only about 3k subscribers Robert Baker had a video years ago talking about some other RUclipsrs we should check out because they were awesome and he mentioned you in that video went to your channel watched one or two videos and immediately subscribed and I had to go back and catch up with the content you had out at the time you deserve everything that’s coming to you all the best man!! Definitely lots of stuff to poke around on and learn, but it ain't easy. As long as I'm making progress I don't care how small it is, because eventually it'll all come together. thank you again Cameron God bless you. Hey I threw in a Sammy lyric and I wasn't even trying.😎
Love the new camera work and the closeups CCoop! I've gotten to the point where this is so clearly laid out, there's no need to ask for tabs on this. Your presentation and explanation is spot on and exactly what many of us need to pull the velvet curtain back from the sauce that EVH brings. You and Jacob Deraps should do a collab!!!
Thank-you kindly, I was born the same time as Eddie, amazed at the similarities in our lives. I'm in Canada, where arthritis is, unlike California! Break a leg brother! Be well
I just picked up guitar after a 10 year layoff. My hands in fingers were like swimming in wet cement. After 30 minutes they started to loosen up. So frustrating. Had really long tough bout with 1st Covid infection that caused serious problems with massive inflammation in my wrist n hands 2 years ago. Trying to fight through it.
Hey brother I'm loving your teachings so clearly laid out Great presentations .I've always love Eddie Van Halens Guitar work . One of my best friends was his Guitar and was saddened to get the news Rip still he's working had a rough spell . He's now working Rd with poison he's cc DeVilles guitar tech and friends . always has story's about his time with Eddie.
Hey Cameron. First off, I want to thank you for what you do! You really help the community out by posting these vids. The lick starting at 8:22 min, you state that the first note on the B string is a down stroke and the notes on E string are up, down, up, then repeating the lick by hitting the B string with a downstroke. For this to happen you have to lift the pick over the B string, then downstroke. Wouldn't make sense to hit the B string on the return with an up stroke? Is the way you showed us the best way or should we play the scale pattern to what works best for us? Just curious because I want to practice this one hard and I want to do it correctly. If your way is the best way to play it more fluidly, then I will concentrate on your technique.
Thanks a lot for the kind words. Try out different approaches and see what works best for you. Could be my approach, it could be yours but ultimately stick with what feels most natural to you.
For the longest time I wondered how EVH made that diving "WOW" kinda sound that Cam does right at the beginning that precedes the two harmonics. Seems like he just flicks the G string with the fretting hand and dives the bar. Maybe there's something more to it? Thanks for the video. Everything about it is awesome!
Either slide up and pull off before diving, or start with the bar depressed and flick the string. In both cases, the string has to be plucked very hard.
Hi friend thanks for those amazing fun lessons. Do you have a video about recording the guitar? Do you mic a cabin or it goes directly to you sound card with amp sim?
How do you do that harmonic dive bomb right at the 50 second mark? Is that a pinch harmonic you are hitting on the second fret of the G string?? Great video. I really appreciate your insights! 🙏
Thank you Cameron. After 2 long years I'm closer to getting my axe. However, it will not be a Charvel, I've gone home to the roots of my infatuation. It will be an Ibanez Jem, hot pink. Can't wait.
Hi from Italy...I m an old 😅😅 guitar player (49y) One question for you... Is it possible to have some private on line lessons from you? You re one of the best RUclips guitar player and teacher.
Hi Davide, it is possible. I back teaching for 3 days this month only. August 13th, 20th and 27th. Please drop me an email or message me on Instagram for prices and terms. Spots are running out quickly but I should be able to get you in 😊🤘🏻
hey Cam I am experimenting using picks .60mm, .71mm, and .73mm is that fine for learning how to play shred guitar. I was told that I needed to use .88mm or higher 1mm but they are not as comfortable I know Eddie Van Halen used .60mm
If I made a 20 Minutes Of Van Halen Licks Part 2, what would you would like to see? 🎸🎵🎶🔥
40 minutes of Valen Halen licks crammed into 20 minutes.
yes for sure
What gauge strings are you using Cam please?
Absolutely Cameron! Cheers man 👍🏻
Love a Warren Demartini session too !
We gotta keep his legacy alive. We won't have any of the techniques and music without him. The best.

Love this. I can't do Eddie BUT Eddie is the G.O.A.T no doubt about it.
Nobody can do Eddie, we just try and enjoy trying.

Perfect timing im actually getting into VH licks too! thanks Cameron!
Awesome. I wish he would've kept coming up with these insane licks in his later playing, but he left us a legacy, for sure.

I think there no one like Eddie when it is about creative trem use. Maybe Vai.
