It's the only smartwatch that has this and many people like it, especially the tactile feel it gives. It's what makes the classic the classic. They also made a non classic version.
Spinny bezel FTW! I'm NOT buying a new one without a spinny bezel despite all their tempting trade in offers. A spinning crown is too hard to use while running on a trail.
I don't have a Galaxy Watch yet...but if I do, what I'd _really_ like from the bezel is to be able to use it "properly" - like a normal rotating bezel on a traditional analogue watch - when it's simply displaying the time, then have it activate as a scrolling tool once a menu is accessed via a button-push. That's what I'd hope for. But I have my suspicions that it's not possible...
I don't agree with you about this being laggy. I've just switched from the classic to the Ultra, and you can control the speed with the speed you rotate the bezel. It certainly doesn't lag or jump-well, mine certainly doesn't! Mine is so fast that I wish there was a speed adjustment on it! It will be back on the Ultra 2 due to the many complaints about it being gone on our Ultras. I miss it myself, but I'm getting used to the better under-screen sensor on the Ultra. At least it works better. Still, I don't prefer it over the bezel. I have the new rotating bezels coming for the Ultra just to give it a bit of a classic look back.
I totally disagree, and as you so eminently display at 3:20 shows why the rotating bezel is a great solution. It's far more ergonomic than a rotating crown, too. in addition you can access it from various sides without blocking the screen. Can it be improved? Sure. Your reasoning is "since it isn't perfect it should be abandoned..." Gee, what logic. In the wearable hardware landscape it's what sets Samsung apart. That said, since the Watch 5 Pro came without a bezel it may be that the 7 Ultra will do so as well, but then it's not particularly ultra, to me, just a continuation of the Pro.
I have been questioning it too and you've made me ponder. Especially on the large watch 6 classic, you need to stretch across a much larger radius to get a wide scroll and it's a physical strain. A small wheel actually would get you more data with less of a physical stretch. I find myself straining a lot and that's the main problem, and I am a large man with big hands. Maybe the next watch I would prefer a smaller bezelless or one with a wheel. It was integral for years as the watch was smaller, now it's huge. It's time to lift those blinds and see something new. Thanks for the thought provoking content. 🖐
I deff get where your comming from but man, I love the bezel and the clicks. But I have a feeling we are going to get the best of both worlds with the Ultra. Its got both the Bezel and the Crown and so far every leak has mentioned that the crown is going to be very cusomizable, I be willing to bet that an option will be to use the crown to scroll. Be funny if they make it an option but then the crown doesnt move smooth either !!!! 😱
rotating crown is a pain I have the 5 pro which has a "cup" design that allows your finger to stay on the edge of the crystal. I don't use the rotation a lot... but I like the cup design because it also protects the crystal from flat impacts.. I've even seen inserts to put in different pattern/graduation ton customize it.
2 mistakes they made with the Ultra was 1st not revisiting what we have all been wanting back for years a new Gear Home S version! And if they were new to Tinkercad playing with schapes dropping a circle in a should have atleast including the roating bezel! The watch is nice i have eventually went and got one in prime day sale's but it wasn't a watch that struck me it was not a nice looking design when it was announced it's took a while to grow on me that's for sure! But comparing the weight here to my watch 6 classic there is no difference which im very very surprised at! The classic feels more top heavy on the wrist but i think it has made a massive difference flatting off this bottom sensor on the ultra, it doesn't leave a divit in your arm now ehare the muscle memory would shape to the back of the sensor! But now i feel the ultra slides round alot more top way's it never wants to sit in a correct trial and error though the ultra 3 will probably be the next big move in fixing some design flaws they'll run with it to make their money for first couple of years!
Nice review, good attention to detail well done. I would like to know the name of the watch face on your watch 6 classic and the watch band they are nice you can share the links thanks..
I have the 5pro and had the 3 before and I hate the digital bezel. Looks less classy and I find it harde to jump on the main screen left or right. I am really sad that the ultra only has a digital bezel... If it had a physical one I'd upgrade instantly. But like this for me not worth the upgrade. Just having massive Samsung Pay issues on the 5pro, the app resetting itself constantly on the watch forcing me to re-register the cards every other day... Also importing cards from the wallet does not work now untill you added one manually in the Wear App. Then the others get imported... Very weird behaviour...
You're insane, the bezel is awesome!
The rotating bezel on the 6 classic is the whole reason I purchased a Samsung watch. It's awesome! Hope the 7 has one to!!!
The 7 Classic and Ultra both get the rotating bezel. Ultra gets a 3rd button, rotating crown as well. :)
I am not convinced the Ultra has a rotating crown or a rotating bezel 🤔.
@@rbroberts61 sadly this aged horrifically
@@rbroberts61 there isn't going to be 7 classic unfortunately, as much as I want that to be true :(
@@rbroberts61wrong! Ultra def doesn’t

The rotating bezel on my watch 6 was the main reason to buy a Samsung smartwatch

Go to developer options and put everything on 0.5 to rotating bezel works amazing when you do that
When I do this on my watch 7 it resets to factory every time I power off and back on.
no bezel no buy
Always had classic galaxy. Bought a 5pro. Hate it. Need the bezel. Looking forward to the watch 7.
Nope, guess it's now a watch 8.

I think the bezel helps protect the screen

I do say in there that I like it but if they are to keep it Samsung should look into improving it. It is definitely unique in the market.
You could fix the scrolling speed By going to developer options and turning down amination speed to .5 and it's nice and smooth if you do that
I will check that out. Something I do on my phone but have not done it on my watch before.
If only the software knew when it was vertical or horizontal navigation and scrolled/clicked appropriately.
Great vid, you have a good point here!

The bezel seems to work better on the pro than it does on the 5/6. Love to customize that inner bezel, I have done several videos in those products.
100% agree, especially on the bezel scrolling feeling laggy

bro it sounds like u got a you problem. especial when i drive the rotating bezel was extremely useful. i love it and i want samsung to continue!
What band are you wearing in this video... ?. I believe it is pretty cool and looks great on the galaxy watch 6 classic
amzn.to/3y4zbVb they have been pretty great bands.

Yes that one is a great one. It is the Balozzi Ascent - play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.watchfacestudio.ballozi.ascent.watchface
Oops sorry forgot the watch band. amzn.to/3JTRoHs

I am shocked the Ultra only has a digital bezel.
A rotational speed control adjustment would make sense, so I'm pretty sure we'll never see it.
Love your videos mate, you should do a video showing your set up, watch face, apps etc
Thank you very much. You rock !
Make sense reasons but just get the Regular no rotating bezel.
True but then you don't get any kind of physical way to scroll. Just the two buttons.
I prefer the bezel personally, because i use it for exercising, and the crown is too small for me to manoeuvre
