You are an excellent teacher. Thank you for breaking down these movements, I work at them daily, with your help. so powerful. Love your studio by the way. Much Aloha, Christine
This is the best demonstration I have seen on youtube. Here in Australia I spent a summer with a Aboriginal Tribe up in North Queensland. Before I left I was allowed to see one of their sacred dances connecting them to the Dreamtime. What I saw started as very symbolic of animals and then it became intense like the OA movements. Since then I have always had a deep sense of respect for the power of dance.
Thank you so much for taking the time to teach us the movements. I meditate often and I find these movements to be very meditative. I do these movements daily because I find joy and peace in doing these movements.
I felt there was something special in these movements when I first watched the show! I recently re-watched part 1 to refresh my memory before watching part 2, and the "cafeteria" episode where they do it all together in unison literally made me cry, it was so beautiful! I'm so excited I found your tutorials and grateful to you for taking the time out to piece them together to teach us. Do you think you'll be doing another flash mob any time soon?
You are such a light for me right now! thank you so much, i'm totally into this movements and dance and The OA, this is just beautiful, I've never learn so fast ♥ this is very powerfull!
just finished the show, couldn't wait to learn the movements, luckily i found your tutorial after seeing so many others and thanks for sharing and breaking down the movements to a dance muggle like me. thanks a lot!!!!
Thanks for saving me a gym membership. I'm covered in sweat, and I feel amazing! I've wanted to learn the movements ever since the oa came out, I just couldn't quite get it. Thanks so much!
So I think all of these are pretty much spot on but what I noticed with the fifth movement is that your two fingers have to be together at first and then they spread apart as you slide it down your face and take some paces forward
Great tutorial! And I like the part about intention (I send it out, too). I have learned the movements also and plan on making a dramatic video of myself in Ireland this summer. :) I appreciate that you acknowledged the right/left mistake in the annotations on your first video. I hope those learning pick up on the correct way to do it. Also I think stepping forward on the fifth movement is correct. I have been posting tutorials on a Facebook group called Beyond the OA, and I have a playlist on my channel of all the best ones on RUclips. Definitely adding yours. OH! And thanks for including the swivel part of Renata's (fourth) movement. So many tutorials DO NOT add that because you can't see it in the iconic series finale, so the instructors don't bother to look for it (you can see it at the beginning of episode 6). Cheers... looking forward to seeing the flash mob. I knew this was coming.
I will definitely post it! A friend will be helping me, so hopefully it will look somewhat professional in a majestic setting. I have been quite seriously learning the movements for over a month and I do them daily as a spiritual exercise. When is your flash mob?!!
The day before the Equinox... excellent! I'm upstate in New Paltz (near Poughkeepsie). Where and when exactly will it occur, and how many people do you expect? Is it part of a specific group?
Sharon Runly Nichols yes! Come be part of it! The link with details is in the description box... anyone can join as long as you can make at least one of the rehearsals listed... check it out!
You are a beautiful teacher, and thanks to you , I have learned the movements. Wishing, I could come back to NYC for the flash mob on 3/19! Sending you all love.
Love the video and the dance is spot on but maybe teach the breathing patterns and sounds and in the show the dance is of various signatures and tempos so maybe how to do it just like the show. Other than that it was great!!!
The tutorial was really helpful, much easy to understand. But it's interesting to watch the episodes together - there are some details which are different in all the movements, mainly in the second and third.
Oh, sure! My intention was helping you to improve it, absolutely! I got some differences in the 4th movement: - the left hand (in the waist) = the wrist points up, and fingers down (like a pregnant woman holding her back). It's just the same direction of the right hand >>> in 2:45 of episode 6 - in the next movement (still in the sequence of the 6th episode, same scene), the hands like claws point to the feet (which are together, side by side, not separated) - and the last step: when they are being like "stabbed", the two jumps are backwards (not forward) Sorry if I sounded gross the first time :( , I'm just saying what I realized... Your tutorial is great, I loved it. We're trying to open a gate to another dimension, let's try to make it perfectly! (:P hahahah)
Ah yes thanks! I'm actually going to be meeting with one of the original choreographers this week, so will be able to perfect it even more! Definitely important to nail it when opening new dimensions :)
This is wonderful. I keep being told that in movement 4 when they actually show her doing it in the beginning of episode 6 there is a part that everyone seems to be missing but I can’t seem to find what everyone is talking about.
DomesticallyNerdy you are right and I filmed this tutorial before learning that. If you check out the flashmob Video we did, you’ll get a glimpse of EVERYTHING in its entirety
it's a little diffrnts from the movements but still nice the only thing that was really different was the heart part I feel like in the og they kinda like flooped and the 5th movement but still it's hard to catch
There is several mistakes in al 5 mouvement from you... what I did is use you for the rough and quickly check the movie to correct before I mémorise too much
I think this is great but in your first video you really took the time to explain the first half of the first movement and after that you are rushing. That's a bit sad. Am trying to learn the movements but I just had to go back every time. Only during the first half of the first movement I didn't have to do it because you explained calmly and repeated.
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you for breaking down these movements, I work at them daily, with your help. so powerful. Love your studio by the way. Much Aloha, Christine
Christine Pagano thank you!! So glad it was helpful

Romina Bello Schreiber you're welcome! :)
The tutorial was really helpful, much easy to understand. But it's interesting to watch the episodes together - there are some details which are different in all the movements, mainly in the second and third.
Gabriel Félix I know my tutorial isn't perfect... if there are specific things I missed, let me know!

I think it's the little balloon face part at the end. Right?
Oa is real?
Such a clear tutorial, thank you so much for helping me learn these empowering movements.

Neophyte 0=0
You're so very welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful :)
0=0 is probationer 1=10 is Neophyte :P :P :P
the 4th movement starts with their hands under their chin before doing the circle in motion as seen in episode 6.
yup, there were a few errors that I realized after publishing this version
@@JessGrippo i would love to see an updated version if youre thinking of making a new one.
That’s quite impressive that you caught that. Clearly, a true master of the movements.
Thank you so much, it´s marvellous. And by the way you´re so beautiful!
Luis Trueba Garcia thank you!
thank you !!!
it's a little diffrnts from the movements but still nice the only thing that was really different was the heart part I feel like in the og they kinda like flooped and the 5th movement but still it's hard to catch
abby dulac yup.. after posting this I learned more of the authentic movements and might be posting an updated video soon :)
Why?
There is several mistakes in al 5 mouvement from you... what I did is use you for the rough and quickly check the movie to correct before I mémorise too much
(You missed the bubble head move in the 4th mouvement )
Your tutoriel is great, but i don't understand why no one who dancing The OA dance do the final step forward !
Mint Ly which step??
On the final movement there is a step forward when you have the Y in front of your eyes.
Yup I realized after the fact there is a step...
5:38
Homer?
