How to replace your N20 engine in 10 minuets with a full service and seal set. #2 piston on this one was broken, bent con rod, cylinder wall had damage. Enjoy !!! --Johnny
Hey there Johnny thanks for the great video. I'm doing the same job on my 2013 328i N20. I'm having problems getting the engine to mate back up with the transmission while trying to put in the new engine. I get it all to line up and I can get the transmission bolts almost all the way in, but something is slightly off because if I try to tighten it all the way down it starts to push the flywheel into the block. Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Thanks
Yes mate...your torque converter is "keyed" you need to rotate it and push into the transmission at the same time you will feel it pop back in... it's a very important step, you could destroy the transmission if you do it wrong and force it...there's a spec that you are supposed to measure with a feeler gauge..I can't remember the specs but as long as the torque converter is home to the transmission properly you should be good....
@@JohnnysSpeedShop Cool thanks for the info! I was able to push the torque converter into the tranny, I felt it go into place twice, but I think when I start to push the engine in it's just popping out or something when the TC starts to mate with the flywheel. When the torque converter is properly in place in the transmission, should it be in there securely and not just pop off easy? Maybe I didn't actually have it in all the way. Thanks
@Steve Martin nagh..it pops off pretty easy... I jacked mine up a touch....double check you don't have an extra dowle somewhere in the bell housing that can cause the same type of issue and is easy to miss..other than that it should drop right in for you.
@@JohnnysSpeedShop great advice to check the dowels. I pulled the engine back out and they were all jacked up and smashed. Not sure why it looked like it was going in straight. Is there any harm in installing it without the dowels? Are the dowels supposed to be place in the bell housing first and not the engine? Thanks
@Steve Martin shouldn't matter what side they are on (engine or trans) in this application they are mainly for alignment but you should be okay just use the bolts to line it up...
Are you asking me if I can do it ? Sorry, I can't I only work on cars at the weekends when I have spare time... I'm slammed at work n at the moment....cheers...J
