the dude in the MV is the teacher. And the girl is... well... a school girl. just to give you a hint of what the song is about
All four girls of Atarashii Gakko are pretty skilled gymnasts, and they incorporate a lot of that skills into their performances.
This MV should not mean that all their stuff is very serious (behind the catchiness), a couple of the songs are, but others are happy/goofy. The girls are actually very funny - a lot of their stuff are humorously tongue-n-cheek skits. It's maybe fair to say - they are a performance act, not just a jazz-pop-whatever-mix group ;)
I love Atarashii Gakko! 4 of the craziest, goofiest, funniest girls in existence. All four can sing quite well and, as you can see, dance quite well. They do their own choreo as well as put it together for other groups. They are pretty much very good all a rounders. They put together a series of videos about Japanese culture and school life called Seishun Academy that are pretty good. Funny while informative. Otona Blue Live at Thumva is my personal fav. Hopefully one day someone will translate the Japanet Suzuka (think QVC) videos. I can't understand a word but, I die laughing every time since Suzuka is a nut! I hope you watch more of their stuff. You won't be disappointed. They are mostly a jazz/rock fusion but, mix it up with other stuff often.
I've only recently found out about them, but I'm paying a bit of attention. So I have watched only some videos about them yet, but I think this is so funny one with their irony and humor. "Atarashii Gakko" means "a new school". And their original band name in Japan, is "新しい学校のリーダーズ (atarashii gakko no ri-da-zu)". I guess it is translated into English, "The New School Leaders", "The Leaders in The New School" or "The New Leaders in the schools". I think the song title, "恋ゲバ (Koi Geba)" is also very interesting. The word "Koi (恋)" means "love, romance". But "geba" is a Japanese old slang word. This word is a Japanese post-war leftist term derived from the German word "gewalt". It means originally "violence", but means in Japan's leftist term, "rebellion, alert"(I am not a communist, ha). The man and girl in the video are a teacher and his student. AG has a little longing for a forbidden love, but they (the front girl with glasses, another "Suzuka", yes!) sing with irony "Why don't teachers just tell us what's wrong is surely wrong? But I wanna study hard, I am the girl student!" If it exists, an English translation of the lyrics on the internet, please check it out. The composition is very interesting, as if we are peeping through a surveillance camera, and the cheap scenery of a Japanese urban hotel area (in Japan's big cities there are hotel areas where men and women mainly enjoy meeting). They sing it in an Enka-like rock style (Enka, 演歌、Japanese ballad songs), with a little jazz in the interludes. I, even Japanese, think so too, they are weird!, and great, haha. They sing in a very serious way, but it is not a serious song, comical song, I think.
The other day, I found and read an article about them on the internet. It made me laugh that the another "Suzuka" is an admirer of the avant-garde dance group "Sankai Juku (山海塾)". Thank you from Japan.

I watched their live performances, all of them can sing really well, and god I love this lead singer voice right there. They're very unique, talented, and addictive to watch I must say, and I don't know if their stamina comparable to Babymetal but their gymnast level is crazy
The next from Atarashii Gakkou should be "Mayoeba toutoshi" (ruclips.net/video/4lZIlLun_Ro/видео.html) ...these girls are just crazy funny :) Their life sessions are grewat as well.
