please note that this video was posted prior to liam payne's death. the past few days have been a whirlwind of emotions. we started this podcast as two girls who wanted to share their thoughts on internet and celebrity culture. our goal with this interview was to hear maya’s story and give her a platform to express herself. we stand with maya and support her completely. no victim should ever be afraid to come forward about the abuse they’ve experienced. at the same time, as two fans & two human beings, we are mourning the loss of liam. he was a father, a son, a friend, a brother and someone who brought happiness to so many peoples lives. our hearts go out to his family and the people close to him. we do not live in a world that is black and white- two things that are opposing can exist at the same time. we can grieve liam’s passing and condemn his actions. after a lot of consideration, we believe that to erase this video would be to erase maya’s story. that is a narrative that we will never get behind.
literally watched this last night and heard Maya say how he talks about how he’s gonna die and that she thinks something bad is gonna happen and now just heard the news he is dead. Wow I’m shaking
I mean it kinda makes sense. It looks like hes been under a lot of heat recently and he was on drugs (according to the worker who called 911)… suicide at that moment could have been the option for him (not condoning suicide but like?? You get me??)
@@Echokeres That’s the most plausible story for what could’ve happened but you still have delusional psychos who probably have similar allegations as Liam, defending him and harassing her in the comments even though they weren’t saying anything two days ago when this video was initially posted.
The more I scroll the worse it gets. This entire tragedy has me spiraling. How awful this all sounds- how quick others are to express hate or disgusting rhetoric. There are empathetic comments, too. But. This is all so sad. Just to remind myself and others: If you, yourself, or your loved ones are struggling, please know there is help. You are not alone.
you are a very dramatic person ALL THE TIME yes? You really care so much, maybe get off-line and go have a conversation with someone who seems depressed and alone.
Literally could have said the same thing but the opposite a few days ago. There is no proof of Liam's abuse at all but people were judging him based on what she was promoting and saying. You might not know but these comments are written in a more nuanced way compared to those vile accusation people were making in hers and other's comments. Most here are questioning her. This was one-sided, you can't deny that. We are in no way owed to believe her just because she said it. We are allowed to question her just as people were questioning Liam because of her.
23:30 onwards is such foreshadowing, literally days before Liam passes away.. I can’t even imagine how Maya is feeling right now, but I hope she knows that none of this is her fault.
It is her fault though? Why did she have to publicly expose him? She did it all for attention. They had a toxic relationship and she decided to ruin his life.
When I was suicidal, I frantically called my friend for help. She came over she said if you're going to make suicidal threats to have me come over, that's not cool. When someone talks about suicide with their friends or family, or to you, that means they're thinking about it. That's bad enough. RIP Liam Payne
I think its important to remember that even if someone is feeling depressed or have a mental illness it doesnt take away from their actions and how it affects other people. It could very well be an explanation to the behaviour, but in the end you have a responsibility for your actions.
While that is very true, it works in both directions. Notwithstanding the validity of any experiences a person has being in the company of somebody who is suffering from mental illness, at the same time those struggles belong to that person, and not to any third party to be putting out into a public platform at a sensitive time. One general rule in life is that if you're going to punch, then you always punch up, but you never punch down (figuratively speaking), and if you know someone to be in a bad way mentally, then any rationale person will be aware of the risks associated with pushing people over the boundaries and breaking them. There is a shame for men around the stigma of mental health, that I don't think women are capable of actually understanding. It is why the su***de rate is far higher amongst men because it's conditioned into the brain that one has to be strong enough to deal with it. But the truth of the matter is that the proposed book, according to Maya's own words with regard to multiple people trying to convince her that it wouldn't be wise to publish it at this time, would have likely played a significant contributing factor to what is most likely going to be determined as a sui**de. That is because the book and the gossip around revealing personal secrets weren't just limited to happenings about their own relationship, but it went beyond those boundaries by spilling information that had nothing to do with the relationship - and at that point, it's not a biography it's a gossip rag focused on a third party's private matters. It's overall a sad and unfortunate outcome, but there is truth in that Maya's reputation will hereafter be regarded as sharing some culpability for the death of Payne - because profit was put ahead of compassion and empathy. People genuinely tried to warn her about it, which was the right thing to do even if she does not yet understand why.
I don’t agree. I think since he was a public figure and was an important figure in many girls’ and young womens’ lives, it is in the interest of the general public to understand his abuse of Maya. Some men in positions of power will exploit that power and harm women. I think abuse is never OK, and accountability does not go away just because someone is mentally ill.
But it's also important to understand that desperate and unwell people can act in ways which is driven by genuine pain. He clearly needed help and understanding, she wasn't the right person to provide this.
honestly even with liams extensive media training, it still couldnt really hide the weird vibes he gives off and i think thats why many fans found him unlikeable after 1d because the way he spoke.. it often felt like slips of his true nature. IDK at least i could sense it,
Even during 1d he got a lot of backlash but the slips were way less frequent. He didn't change after 1d broke up although it appears that way he just dropped the media training and doesnt have 4 boys around him to keep him in line now

yeah, she has every reason to have a voice, but i still think that it was incredibly inhumane for her to put out the book even after she was informed several times about the fact that he is not doing well. she should have taken it to court instead had the allegations she was making were actually real or that serious. i don't know how she is gonna live the rest of her life knowing that she ultimately played a part in his demise.
I spent about 3 years in my teenage years dedicated to one direction. I think it’s very important to have these conversations about all of it. The parasocial nature of the group and their fans, the curated personalities that are sold as real, and how people who are put on a pedestal and “can do no wrong” tend to do a lot of wrong actually. Thank you Maya for telling us your experience. I think a lot of good will come from this and hopefully will continue to encourage people to not have intense parasocial relationships. They do so much harm on so many levels. Highly enjoyed this episode
We're not all delusional. Some of just still enjoy the 1D music and most of the solos. 'Curated'.🤭 We know they were given roles. You're not revolutionary nor are you above us because you're not a fan anymore. People still like BSBs, Westlife, Five, East 17 etc.

Agreed, I was involved in kpop fandoms for years, which I’d argue take fan service to the next level, and I’m still conflicted about the time I spent obsessed with them.
@@zl2240 It’s very conflicting! On one hand, it was really my lifeline to have a community like that as a teenager. I don’t know what life would have been like for me if I didn’t have that escape. At the same time I genuinely feel as if it has negatively impacted me still to this day, and I feel shame that as a young teenager i was just allowed to do whatever I wanted online basically. I reflect about it a lot and just think about what habits I picked up through fan culture that I’ve had to unlearn (particularly being judge mental, black or white thinking, defending celebrities tooth and nail that I don’t know). It’s a bag of very mixed emotions and I definitely get how it could be that way with K-pop too although I was never in those fandoms
@@shadymotel11 absolutely! I don’t think I picked up that mentality but I’ve seen a lot of it to understand what lengths some people end up going to and I appreciate it took some rewiring. On my end, I isolated a lot, which I don’t think is discussed a lot online because that would break the 4th wall - you spend so much time being obsessed with people online that you create personalities for inside your head, that you could have spent connecting with people in real life which could actually evolve into meaningful relationships. I had one friend that mattered to me from 12-16 and I genuinely think I was behind in terms of social development for YEARS until I went to university. Home life definitely influences this, which was a problem with me, but otherwise I don’t think it’s talked about how isolated you can get, being a fan of people that don’t know you and constantly being online. Some might think different, but I don’t think fandoms can substitute real relationships.

Liam died a few hours ago, according to reports from the Argentine hotel he died at, police were called earlier in the day as a man was being abusive to staff and had smashed his lap top computer. It is not beyond reason to believe that Liam will have seen this video as it has Liam's and Maya's name in the title and was posted just a few days ago. I'm not sure whether Liam posted videos where he said he was the a victim of anyone, even though he clearly was suffering a lot. It's one thing to call lawyers concerning an ex partners unwanted communications but perhaps is another to post videos detailing those concerns publicly. I'm sure Mayo is upset now that there is a real possibility this video was seen by Liam a day or two ago. Perhaps we should all learn to tread more carefully when making public statements about anyone who is very unwell.
This man jumped out of a window because the cops were called on him for drug use in a foreign country (Argentina of all places) where he was in possession of controlled substances and did not want to get caught up legally for that. A rapper did the same thing a couple years ago. Realistically, this man was always going to escape responsibility for what he does one way or another, the timing was just extremely tragic. Maya’s not at fault. If Liam didn’t want Maya to talk about him abusing her, he shouldn’t be an abuser. And regarding him being unwell, he had adequate resources to deal with his problems, but he chose not to. Y’all conveniently forget that this man is 31, and Maya is 23 when it comes to the mental health topic. How do you think this would all affect her?

They were engaged. She’s not some random few-month relationship he had. I think she would know him better than you.
She could have tried to solve their issues the right way. Go the legal way, get a restraining order and solve this in court since she has so many "receipts" but instead she chose to write a book and talk about a disturbed and emotionally fragile person on social media. She 100% contributed to his death. Of course she has the right to speak up, but from videos I've seen of her talk about him she is a straight up bully. She's no better than he was.

As a journalist, I have to point out that an interviewer's job is not to constantly agree with their interviewee but to ask sometimes uncomfortable questions in order to get at the truth. I would have liked to see a little of this here, despite the difficult subject matter.
I agree. The girls seemed quite green in this regards. It was sadly quite shallow at times and more like a girly hangout instead of a podcast probing a difficult and complex matter.
i was looking for a comment like this, i kept thinking how much more profound the podcast could have been with this subject if the questions were better structured
I do agree I feel probably because she is a survivor of abuse. So trying to not in a way blame her, can be tricky but it’s possible to ask more pressing questions.
she was clearly opening up about something genuinely bad she went through. she is well within her right to do that. do NOT start sending her hate now because of what happened to liam. it is extremely sad but his own struggles / mental health issues / possible suicide do not now suddenly exempt him from his own actions or diminish her experience in any way. be sensitive about liam- he was a father and a son- but be kind to maya. this is not her fault.

This man chased her with an axe. He threatened suicide literally and only to manipulate girls. Perhaps the manipulation went wrong this time, or he was sincerely suicidal, but it is no one's fault but his own.
What he did is wrong but “only to manipulate girls” is a bit of a stretch. He was diagnosed with multiple mental illness conditions. Bpd for example often exhibits high suicidality and emotional instability. Sometimes they can definitely be manipulative about it but sometimes they’re genuinely convinced in the lies they believe and are suffering from it and really is feeling suicidal as a result. So let’s not jump to conclusions here.
To be honest, I hadn’t heard of her before she started dating LP. She claims he was obsessed with her, yet she had written a book about him and their relationship. They broke up two years ago, and it seems her only claim to fame is their on-and-off relationship. If she truly believes he was abusive, she should pursue legal action instead of airing their private life in public. It's frustrating to see people latch onto the fame of others instead of moving on with their lives. Is there really anything more to her than this? Obviously not!
She did pursue legal action. She ordered a cease and desist letter against him. Also, she is allowed to tell her story of what Liam did to her. He forced her to get an abortion, chased her with an axe, and got with her when she just turned 18 and he was 26. They met when she was 17. Liam was the only one responsible for his actions.
@@camilacamp2000 All of the above is "allegedly" (unless you personally bore witness to all of this). The problem is that yes, she followed all of the correct legal procedures, however this was alongside her blabbing to the media in a gossip-like manner to promote her shitty projects, which again were built around HER version of events and mindless speculation and slander. I URGE anyone who's interested in learning and healing from an abusive relationship to refer to UNBIASED material, such as Ramani Durvasula's books. You will learn nothing from Maya Henry 😂
@@camilacamp2000 Thank you, you have proved my point. She didn't need to tell us on social media that she ordered a cease and desist letter against him. Again she was just trying to stay relevant on the back of LP. If she truly wanted to move on - KEEP IT PRIVATE !!
Hard to say what happened and if this was intentional or not. Both are flawed individuals and we are only hearing one side of the story. And I’m also not saying Liam was innocent but we don’t know and we weren’t there. And now he is no longer here and nothing can be undone. He was clearly going through something. a lot of people failed him. This is tragic
idk I don't like the lack of evidence and the way it's tied to a fictional story and how people are just running with that. One of the women who came forward was what, 24-25 when she was messaging Liam and claimed it was abuse because he would ask for photos? She was fully aware of his relationship status and did not have to continue messaging him. That's not assault, that's just a crappy dynamic and an affair. You're a side piece (Not Maya, I am referring to that Ashley person) like your brain is basically fully developed at that point. All the other ones of fans like 19 when he was 26 are a stretch too. Just feels like a hate train and that Maya is capitalizing on actual issues like the Amber Heard case. Amber at the very least had genuine evidence that a UK court proved to be true. It's giving grifter vibes IMO and it's sad people ate it up without any real process.
it’s best not to comment/take a stance on these issues unless you get the full picture but rn i’m a little more inclined to believe maya considering she published the story without saying it was liam for years. that doesn’t sound like a grift to me. she likely went through SOMETHING, but the extent is not fully known
@@asdfghzxcd oh i was under the impression she published the book like 3 years ago 💀 either way if she was genuinely abused (which we don’t know), her sharing her story and going on interviews isn’t a sign of grifting. this is why so many victims are afraid of coming out against abuse.
Her story sounds exactly like every story I’ve heard from people I know who have experienced domestic violence either through romantic or familial relationships, even my own, and it’s sad to see her get harassed like this because like in many cases, the abuser finds themselves in this current circumstance. She’s not at fault in any way and I hope she can take a peaceful step back away from her work and the public to deal with the trauma of all of this. 💕
I need to understand what she gained by this approach? Why go on podcasts to make untested allegations, why not take it to a courtroom where a jury can verify these claims? This “telling my truth” culture is absolutely bizarre. If it’s the truth and you are already telling internet strangers, why not go tell the police?? Or just file a lawsuit. Or is it just attention seeking?

NO ONE CAN "SAVE" an addict. They have to want it. Addicts do manipulate, i know from having family members who are addicts. I am very sorry about Liam's death. It is tragic. It is not because of this podcast or book or this woman. It was due to his addiction and his choices.
This was recommended to me after watching a news bulletin on Payne’s death. I want to share my support for Maya. She is not responsible for his passing. We can and do exist in a complex timeline. Payne was an aggressive partner to her; she has every right to speak about her experiences with him. No one had any way of knowing he would meet his end so soon after. The world loves to put women on a stake to burn, so my hope is that Maya is mentally and physically safe during this time. I can only imagine the complicated emotions she must be feeling. As for Payne, I’m most saddened that the industry by way of mental health crises and addiction robbed him of his life. Condolences to his family and child.
She needed to turn the comment section off from her tiktok video where she spoke about the abuse. She got so much threats and hate and everyone is now victim blaming her. She didn't want him to die for heaven sake. No one couldn't predict his death. He used so much drugs and alcohol and I don't believe it was a suic!de. This isn't her fault at all. She may be in real danger now.
she made a live stream hours ago with the caption “unbothered”. how vile. what victim is so giggly and excited to write a tell all and spill secrets of their famous ex on tik tok?
She didn’t “want” him to die of course and she is not to blame but she could have also been more sensitive. Yes, he was an unhealthy ex, but his family and friends literally contacted her to postpone publishing the book given his current mental health condition (with the awareness that that might push him off the edge). She herself knew that something bad would happen to him soon. But she still went ahead and chose to publish it now. And for what? Why tiktok and podcast and book where she can’t prove or backup what she’s saying which only leads to insane amount of public hate? She could have handled it privately through a legal process (which he definitely has the means and resources to do). This was very much for her self-advantage and she proceeded knowing the cost of what she would do would result too. So to a certain degree, she is responsible, not for sharing her story, but for the means and circumstances in which she shared knowing that it would lead to his death (which she even acknowledged before his passing).
If she wanted protection and safety, she could’ve done it through legal measures. Sharing about it at a time where he’s extremely suicidal isn’t going to make her more safe.
No im sorry writing a book and creating hate is NOT being an example for dv. Calling authorities and holding your abuser accountable is was more healing and inspiring. She better hope she doesn’t get sued for defamation considering she has now publicly confirmed the book was indeed about him and was aware it might hurt him. This is a mess
Crazy how NONE of us actually dated Liam or knew him in real life and yet call her a liar. She was literally ENGAGED to him in REAL LIFE. Go outside touch grass and stop putting these people on a pedestal just because you're a fan. I believe everyone on earth is capable of potentially being a monster, especially celebrities because of the nature of how the public perceieves them, power and their crazy inflated ego. To blame this woman for his death that she wasn't even present for is lunacy. I dgaf if she was lying, she still had nothing to do with it whether it was an accident or if he threw himself off. RIP to him but also praying for her because the internet is about to rip her apart over a stranger none of us knew but she ACTUALLY experienced.
So take it to the courts. Keep it private. Don't release a book and then do podcasts lol. This woman is an opportunist and loves the sound of her own voice. Liam's death is gonna make her a lot of money. I think she is disgusting.
how is it insane? what do you think will happen when creators publicly humiliate a man who is obviously going through something. these videos drove him to jump out of a window.

I asked chatgpt Here’s a breakdown of Maya Henry’s statements about her book Looking Forward and her shifting narratives, which might help clarify inconsistencies: 1. Initial Encouragement to Write a Book (Early 2023) Claim: Maya initially said that her ex-fiancé (widely speculated to be Liam Payne) encouraged her to write a book about her experiences. In interviews, she mentioned that her ex was supportive of her creative endeavors, including writing. She also framed the book as largely fictional, but based on her personal journey, describing it as a project to raise awareness about emotional challenges and the complexities of relationships. Inconsistency: Maya’s early tone suggested that her ex-fiancé was a positive influence on her creativity, which contradicts her later accusations of abuse and manipulation. If Liam had been emotionally supportive, it is odd that she later described the relationship as entirely toxic. 2. Themes of the Book and Allegations (Mid-2023) Claim: When promoting the book further, Maya described the fictional plot, mentioning that the main character Mallory, a model, enters a relationship with Oliver, a famous musician. This relationship eventually becomes emotionally damaging, with Oliver struggling with addiction, self-destructive tendencies, and manipulative behavior. Though she kept reiterating that the book was fictional, she admitted that it was inspired by her own experiences. Inconsistency: While Maya continued to insist the book was fiction, many details matched her real-life relationship with Liam, including Oliver’s background as a former boy band member and his struggles with substance abuse, which mirrored the publicized aspects of Liam’s personal life. 3. Public Allegations Against Liam Payne (Late 2023 - Early 2024) Claim: As media outlets picked up on the parallels between the book and Maya’s relationship with Liam, Maya became more vocal about her personal experiences. She openly accused Liam of emotional abuse and manipulation, stating that he sent distressing messages to her and her family during their breakup. She further implied that much of the abuse detailed in Looking Forward was not entirely fictional and reflected her reality. Inconsistency: Her shift from describing the book as inspired by life to framing it as a semi-autobiographical expose raises questions. If her relationship with Liam had been supportive enough for him to encourage her to write, why would she later claim he was manipulative and harmful? The timeline of her statements changes from one of creative collaboration to one of personal torment. 4. Promotion of Empowerment and Healing (2024) Claim: Maya has emphasized in several interviews that the primary purpose of her book is to empower women and to give a voice to those who have suffered in emotionally abusive relationships. She claimed the book is a tool for healing, for herself and for others. Inconsistency: While the message of empowerment is positive, it conflicts with the earlier narrative of Liam’s encouragement. If the relationship had truly been as damaging as later implied, the supportive elements she initially described seem out of place. 5. Public Reaction and Perception As Maya’s narrative has evolved, the public has become divided. Some believe she is sharing her genuine experiences with an emotionally abusive relationship, while others point to the contradictions in her statements, questioning the authenticity of her claims. These contradictions are especially evident when comparing her earlier and later portrayals of Liam. Summary of Inconsistencies: 1. Supportive Partner: Early on, Maya said Liam was supportive of her writing a book, but later described him as an abuser. It seems contradictory for an abusive partner to encourage such a creative endeavor. 2. Fiction vs. Reality: Maya maintained that the book was fictional, but as time went on, she implied it was based on real-life experiences. This shift blurs the line between fact and fiction, making it harder to determine how much of the book reflects her reality. 3. Empowerment Narrative: Maya’s portrayal of the book as a healing tool clashes with the initial idea of her being in a supportive relationship while writing it. These contradictions are why many people have found her claims confusing or unconvincing. Whether Maya’s accusations are true or embellished is difficult to verify, as much of her story relies on her perspective without external evidence to substantiate or disprove her allegations. If you'd like, I can look further into specific interviews or moments to help resolve any of these contradictions.

She should have a little respect for Liam and for their relationship even it had ended. To bring out your relationship problems , for Liam, as a public figure, could make him feel ashamed and ruins his good reputation. Did you think about how he feels about it? Apart from that , he has a child, and he can see this interview in the future and can make him as well feel bad. What was in your relationship with him should be solved within you and him, or you could write a message even to his family to help him out, not coming on TV and speak about him like that. By saying all these things shows that you did not love Liam and you did not have respect for him at all. You did not think about his feelings and you did not see that he really wanted help, not trying to manipulate you! The way you speak, shows as well that you did not have empathy at all for him and you tried just to make him feel bad! I am so sorry for Liam ‘s tragic final!

It’s sad that Liam Payne is gone but it’s also not her fault for sharing what happened to her. I don’t think we can just label Liam Payne as a bad person. No one’s all good or bad. He was a nuanced person suffering with addiction, and it’s sad how negatively the fame and wealth affected him.
If she had taken him to court and won...then by all means speak out in public. Otherwise, support needs to be accessd in private. It's not about denying a person support, the concern is about shaming another person publicly without providing evidence.
except she didnt just share her story, she wrote a fiction novel about poor Liam. a fiction by definition means a story with lots of exaggeration and free creativity and lots of add-on, so in reality we will never know what parts of the book were true and factual and what parts weren't! the poor guy's freind warned Maya and her mom that he has become suicidal because of the book, and she goes on to publish it. besides, Maya also intervened in Liam's personal life like trying to sabotage his relationship with his co-workers like Zayn and Louis. so she went beyond a victim sharing a truthful story.
15:40 honestly now this still happens 🥲 i stan kpop groups and theres sooo many cases still coming out of members literally doing criminal things (sexual abuse, etc) its crazy and so messed up. i dont know how these men even have the backbone to be on stage and not only fool their fans, but backstab their members too (whose careers are heavily affected by the sh*t they do)
I find it so weird how he died slightly after she revealed Zayn was the one Liam had the altercation with, he passed. Zayn has 50 million followers, so they must have really gone after Liam. I think fame was a drug for Liam, he was chasing it at whatever cost. Dead or alive his behaviour was not acceptable but he still deserves to rest in peace.
All she does is yapping, no evidence, no proof just yapping. How do we know what she is saying is all truth and no lie? Even an accused in not guilty until proven otherwise, and here everyone blamed Liam and trolled him w/o anything being proven, just cause SHE SAID THIS (Everyone just want to gossip). If she was facing so much why didn't she seek legal aid? how can she think that making tik toks, videos and writing a book (which is a monetary source btw) will help her in any way? I smell attention seeking behaviour. I'm all for 'believe her' and supporting women but she just goes online and do drama. An actual victim might not make tik toks and go to podcasts. She knew exactly what she was doing, not wanting help just clout. So sad that her chasing clout might have added to Liam's already bad mental health issues. So so sorry Liam, may his soul rest in peace 🕊️❤
please note that this video was posted prior to liam payne's death. the past few days have been a whirlwind of emotions. we started this podcast as two girls who wanted to share their thoughts on internet and celebrity culture. our goal with this interview was to hear maya’s story and give her a platform to express herself. we stand with maya and support her completely. no victim should ever be afraid to come forward about the abuse they’ve experienced. at the same time, as two fans & two human beings, we are mourning the loss of liam. he was a father, a son, a friend, a brother and someone who brought happiness to so many peoples lives. our hearts go out to his family and the people close to him. we do not live in a world that is black and white- two things that are opposing can exist at the same time. we can grieve liam’s passing and condemn his actions. after a lot of consideration, we believe that to erase this video would be to erase maya’s story. that is a narrative that we will never get behind.

As someone who is severely depressed right now I 100% agree with you on this.
People genuinely tried to warn her about it, which was the right thing to do even if she does not yet understand why.
exactly. everybody has mental health. other people's mental health matter too
I don’t agree.

@@p3xo years? Her book was published THIS YEAR? On May 14, 2024? Yes, that is screaming grifter to me.
Best comment, 100% agree this happens all the time
I need to understand what she gained by this approach? Why go on podcasts to make untested allegations, why not take it to a courtroom where a jury can verify these claims? This “telling my truth” culture is absolutely bizarre. If it’s the truth and you are already telling internet strangers, why not go tell the police?? Or just file a lawsuit. Or is it just attention seeking?
@@jakestroll6518 Why? What would she get out of taking him to court for being a drug addict (which we ALL already knew before she came along) and an abusive boyfriend? he's no more ... What a tragic death! RIP.
Rest now in peace Liam
He’s in hell. How can he rest in peace?!?!

Crazy how NONE of us actually dated Liam or knew him in real life and yet call her a liar. She was literally ENGAGED to him in REAL LIFE. This weird as fuck parasocial relationship y'all have with celebrities is part of the reason why the world is so fucked up. Here’s a breakdown of Maya Henry’s statements about her book Looking Forward and her shifting narratives, which might help clarify inconsistencies:
1. Initial Encouragement to Write a Book (Early 2023)
Claim: Maya initially said that her ex-fiancé (widely speculated to be Liam Payne) encouraged her to write a book about her experiences.
2. Themes of the Book and Allegations (Mid-2023)
Claim: When promoting the book further, Maya described the fictional plot, mentioning that the main character Mallory, a model, enters a relationship with Oliver, a famous musician.
3. Public Allegations Against Liam Payne (Late 2023 - Early 2024)
Claim: As media outlets picked up on the parallels between the book and Maya’s relationship with Liam, Maya became more vocal about her personal experiences.
4. Promotion of Empowerment and Healing (2024)
Claim: Maya has emphasized in several interviews that the primary purpose of her book is to empower women and to give a voice to those who have suffered in emotionally abusive relationships. She claimed the book is a tool for healing, for herself and for others.
Inconsistency: While the message of empowerment is positive, it conflicts with the earlier narrative of Liam’s encouragement. If the relationship had truly been as damaging as later implied, the supportive elements she initially described seem out of place.
5. Public Reaction and Perception
As Maya’s narrative has evolved, the public has become divided. Some believe she is sharing her genuine experiences with an emotionally abusive relationship, while others point to the contradictions in her statements, questioning the authenticity of her claims. These contradictions are especially evident when comparing her earlier and later portrayals of Liam.
Summary of Inconsistencies:

She wouldn’t like it if someone wrote a book about her , let that sink in.

If she had taken him to court and won...then by all means speak out in public. Otherwise, support needs to be accessd in private. It's not about denying a person support, the concern is about shaming another person publicly without providing evidence.
