Few points about centre of mass :
1. Centre of mass is the point which represents effective of contribution by all the particle locations distributed within the body for motion.
2. For homogeneous bodies, it coincides with geometrical centre of the body due to uniform distribution.
3. For non homogeneous bodies, it departs from the geometrical centre based on distribution intensity & lies in the region of intense distribution of mass.
4. Centre of mass need not to be lies only on or within a body, it may be outside of the body.
5. When body splits into multiple sub-bodies, its centre of mass remains unaffected provided that it remains accelerated.
6. Centre of mass is used to represent the motion parameters of vector interest like displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, torque, etc but not necessary of scalar interest like energy, power, etc.

Though the overall value comes out to be less than 1, it is not a(-)ve value . obviously greater than zero. For the COM to lie inside the circular mass, the value must be a negative one ( since it is in neg x coordinate). So COM lies inside square.. Hope this clarifies u🤗
