It’s probably from all the yelling he did in training that blasted his voice. Kinda like what happened to Krausers. When doing voice lines for Krauser they wanted the actor to sound like someone who blew out their voice box.
I love how in RE2R, when Leon said "hospital," you can hear Nick's Boston accent come out, probably implying that Leon's a Massachusetts native, and by RE4R, Leon no longer has a Boston accent; he is well traveled and lived at this point.
if capcom makes a RE6 remake, i hope they call Nick back. It's gonna be such an emotional ride watching Leon growing as a young adult to a late 20's to fully grown 36 years old man
Don't get your hopes high, Nick is part of a Union and since Capcom of America hates that his chances of returning are low. Seriously just stick with the Japanese dub they actually care about consistency hell they would bring back the entire RE6 voice crew in JP for a possible remake.
When I watched the first 2 trailers of RE4 Remake last year I couldn't believe at first that this was the same VA Nick Apostolides. It's insane how much he's expanded his vocal range. That's true dedication! The second half when he swears like a sailor is hilarious! 😂
Fun fact: Nick Apostolides is the third actor who reprised their role in a mainline Resident Evil game. The only other two were Todd Soley (Ethan from RE7-RE8) and Sally Cahill (Ada from RE2-RE4 Original)
Wouldn't he be the fourth? Alyson Court played Claire all the way up until Revelations 2, and although Code Veronica isn't numbered, it's still considered a mainline entry, not a spinoff.
It depends on the distance between zombies and leon. If the zombie was far away while leon was aiming at them, he would curse in calm manner. However, if it's like a jumpscare which zombie was right at leon's face when he tried to shoot, he would panically scream.
Nick is, to me, tied with Mercier (Resident Evil 4 Classic and Degeneration) as the best voice of this character, to be honest. Not to say that Paul Haddad (Resident Evil 2 Classic) and Matthew Mercer (The other three anime movies and "The Worst Goddamn Main ResE Game We've Ever Done, deal with it, Redditors") are bad, they also do good jobs, but Nick embodies Remake Leon like how a tight glove fits on a hand: Capturing the naïve cop who ends up fighting biological abominations, losing his innocence in the process in REmake2, and the traumatised agent whose experience battling said abominations (and additional trauma from the off-screen Operation Javier) has taken a toll on him in 4. I mean, REmake4 was a game I viewed as unnecessary, but hindsight is hilarious, isn't it?
I mean, the difference sounds great, but people's voices don't really get that deep after they are adults. Leon, in re2 remake was already a grown adult. I don't know how his voice can change even when he has already hit puberty. In fact, even if it happens, it's the complete opposite! After puberty, some people's voices may change, but not everyone's. Men's voices tend to go up in pitch. Women's voices tend to go down.
@@BlazeVentureZone well since dead bodies can’t reanimate into flesh hungry monsters irl either, I choose to believe that’s how it works in the Resident Evil universe
huh, the fact he managed to sound innocent like he was back in re2 remake then reprise his voice to actually feel like he went through those 6 years of hard training as an agent for re4 remake. How tf does this sound like he's trying too hard LOL
Nick absolutely nailed making Leon come off as older and more mature in RE4 remake. It feels natural and realistic to the character.
That’s Nick Apostolides for you
I like the difference, glad to know he reprised his role for this, think his current voice fits the tone of this game very well
Can't wait to hear middle-aged Leon's voice like in RE6 and the movies
Nick doing great job for 2 remake game pg re 😊😊❤
He’s defiantly my favourite Leon by far. You can hear how much he’s improved in both 2 and 4
Dude went through a second puberty!
Bruh 😂
It’s probably from all the yelling he did in training that blasted his voice. Kinda like what happened to Krausers. When doing voice lines for Krauser they wanted the actor to sound like someone who blew out their voice box.
I think he was 21 which is fairly young to still have somewhat of the same teenage voice people have at 17

@bernardorp7 Nick should voice Zero.

leon’s potty mouth at the end is so funny
He sounds like Deadpool almost

Definitely my favourite va for the remake games his work from 2 to 4 is insane
finally someone beside me noticed this
I love that the cursing part raises in intensity, it channels my patience towards life lately

A cool detail is when Leon sees Ashley locked up on the military island his old voice shines through a bit when calling out to her.
listening to leon cursing in multiple tones
yes
ok but the cursing part 😂
2:22 leon sounds like he's raging while playing video games
Head voice vs chest voice
And if he voices Leon again in 6, it's gonna be guts voice.

Roger Craig Smith? He voiced Chris in re 5 and re 6
What about Mia, and Eveline? They were voiced by the same people.
Re2 Leon is pre-T
His voice in Re4 reminds me of Sasha Mitchell.
2:52 Me realizing im out of heals in Elden Ring
Resident evil 2 Leon swears like he’s trying them out for the first time
Wow, I actually thought they recasted with RE4 due to the voice change. That's impressive.
didnt know Leon could curse louder on re2, is it when you are in low healh or when there's more zombies?
