    All the talk about him asking for the level of secrecy is not factual. He only asked the conversations be kept private, not that a meeting took place.

      Good point. We don't know that Ohtani is at all miffed by someone saying they had a meeting with him. I respect his need for secrecy in the negotiations. That makes sense to me.

    Think about the plethora players we could get with the money we spend on Ohtani.

    Ohtani isn’t forcing anyone to do anything. Talk all you want. You just might ruin your chances.

    @ttksmith5458 9 месяцев назад +15

    You're absolutely right, it's not nuclear secrets but if he can't trust you with a small insignificant request then what makes you think he can trust you at all. Remember he's not about the money, he could have waited a year and got a huge payday but decided to play for the Angels for peanuts compared to what he would have gotten if he waited. He eats and breathes baseball. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to the Angels who've been very quiet or the Giants, Cubs and Braves.

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 9 месяцев назад

      I'd be less surprised by the Braves coming out with him. The Cubs? They reportedly have already "moved on" from the Ohtani sweepstakes as if they feel they're unlikely to win. But really, they're in a cold, windy place, the stadium has no dome, and the city doesn't strike me as Shohei's kind of scene. And they are not big competitors for the postseason.

    • @ttksmith5458
      @ttksmith5458 9 месяцев назад

      @surfwriter8461 I agree about the Cubs as far as not being competitive in the post season but I deem Ohtani would prefer a dome or cooler weather. He does not perform well in the sweltering heat when he pitches. He develops cramps and gets tired easily in the middle to late innings due to pitching, hitting and especially running the bases.

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 9 месяцев назад

      @@ttksmith5458 What sweltering heat are you talking about? He's done very well in southern California and seems happy with the climes. I've seen almost every game in which he's pitched, and he's done well in the Angels home stadium overall, if you bother to examine his record. Compare that with places where it's extremely humid or cold and rainy. Remember the fiasco when he started in Boston when it was raining off and on, and he had to be scratched after rain delay. You think he digs that kind of condition?

    • @ttksmith5458
      @ttksmith5458 9 месяцев назад

      @@surfwriter8461 Sweltering heat above 100 deg F like the Yankee game. Cooler, like 50-90 deg F or ambient conditions without the rain.

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 9 месяцев назад

      @@ttksmith5458 It's rarely over 85 degrees in Angel Stadium. You're focusing on rare conditions, not typical ones. I'll take 85 and low humidity over 50 degrees and windy or rainy anytime. Are you in charge of controlling the weather in NY, Chicago, Boston or other cities with inclement weather in the fall? Maybe work on getting our political leaders to combat climate change while you're at it.

    Have you considered that this secrecy is actually more intriguing than everyone giving details of their negotiation? You go on a rant about "the best dude ever" being savaged because he admitted they had met with Ohtani. I didn't even hear Roberts' comment in your audio play. Nothing. So did he really say, literally, nothing? Come on. This ragging about secrecy is more obnoxious than the actual secrecy.

    Hey, Jimbo, deal with some facts: No one calls San Francisco "Frisco" except the dullards who occupy the east coast and nether regions of the country. And it's NOT warm there, pal. It's nice at times, but often cold and windy, even in the summer. The stadium there has no dome, right? Not Shohei's conditions. And finally, the team is not a winner at this stage. So tell us again, why would Shohei like that team? Maybe because the local scene and media are more low-key. That's about it.

      Laughable that you know so little. Listen to the MLB network's most recent discussion of this with Tom Verducci explaining how much Ohtani must like the exceptional training facilities the Blue Jays have and the nature of their domed stadium that reminds him so much of the stadium he called home with the Fighters. (Ohtani reportedly flew to Florida to tour through the Jays' training facility.) What I think makes the Jays less formidable is that they're in a very tough division where they finished a distant third this year, with the Yankees and Red Sox behind them. Hardly a sure bet to be strong in playoffs.
